****OFFICIAL ECU vs UNT IN-GAME DISCUSSION***
dmaxel replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm down for letting Morris go. I would've been unsure if the offense was at least consistent despite the bad defense, but even that isn't the case. -
Major recruiting class jump from ‘23 to ‘24
dmaxel replied to GoGreenBeans's topic in Mean Green Football
Is that true? If so, sounds like it would be easy to bring a lawsuit against BYU (and the NCAA) for circumventing Title IX. Because no one can seriously pretend that women profit from this whole NIL scheme as much as men do. -
These are the times for 2024, not tomorrow.

Only 12 days? Well then I guess I can stop checking for updates every day and just hope that kickoff is in the evening. Thanks for filling me in -- looks like this was common knowledge I missed out on.
-
Does anyone know when we might be able to expect kickoff times to be announced for the TBD games in October? I'd like to go to the one against Temple but it does actually make a difference for me if kickoff is (for example) in the early afternoon or in the evening. Thanks!

North Texas adds Flower Mound DE Devin Strange as a Walk On
dmaxel replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
Not to discredit the young man, but something seems a little off... He gets an offer from Michigan, but then walks on at UNT? If he was regarded enough to get an offer from them, why aren't we offering him as well instead of having him walk on? -
How many drinks in are y'all?

UConn about to bolt. Who gets golden ticket?
dmaxel replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
That would require a ton of advertising from both UNT and SMU, and I don't think SMU would want to put any effort into that. All I can say is that if Wren is able to convince the AAC and SMU it's a good idea, he deserves a lifetime contract. -

This, plus it would free up a non-conference slot in our schedule for a new series. It would be benefits galore for us, but the AAC would only have little gain from adding us, and SMU would likely try to block anyways. -
Huge Addition to Mean Green Football: Nick Harvey
dmaxel replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
Not just a "lowly" 4-star recruit either (I think those start around .90 ratings...). He had a .97!! -
FYI, his older brother has already committed to UT.

Seth Littrell "Stay at UNT" Gif or Vid ONLY Thread
dmaxel replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
How the heck is this already a thing?? Oh, also: -
I haven't had the pleasure of getting to know Ashton outside of the BTG episodes, but I have a friend who once had him in a class and she had nothing but great things to say about him. Your time at UNT has been much appreciated by all of us, Ashton.

Coaches think Littrell is the toughest
dmaxel replied to Philip Ferguson's topic in Mean Green Football
Not going to lie, I imagine Littrell vs. Orgeron would be pretty entertaining. -
This is a picture of a potential render (not final design) of what a renovated Willis would look like. All links to where I got this picture from no longer seem to work, but hey I at least still had the picture.

I believe that the NCAA limits the amount of practices that a team may conduct between their last regular-season game and their bowl game. The only advantage we'd get by having a later bowl game is more rest in between practices.
-
We would have the best UNT showing to the SERVPRO bowl and the bowl in Shreveport, in that order. Anywhere else, the showing would be laughable.

Improved billboards + on the field performance = stronger brand
dmaxel replied to meangreenlax's topic in Mean Green Football
Hover over that acronym with your mouse and the site will tell you. 😉 -
Surely there's got to be other CUSA teams who have had this many struggles with the refs? So far I feel like it's just fallen on deaf ears and CUSA doesn't give two craps on doing something about it.

And that was offsides!!!!

They blew the play dead before the ball was picked up!!!

Pro tip: if you use Gmail for your email, you can create multiple email addresses based off of your existing one and all mail sent to it will still go to your regular inbox. Example: your normal address is gmg@gmail.com. You can tell Sling/Fubo your address is gmg+sling@gmail.com, and you'll still get the emails sent to it (important since a lot require you to verify the address). Need another address for a new trial? Maybe use gmg+fubo@gmail.com next. Just add a "+whatever_here" before the @.

BeIN is part of the $5 Sports extra. That is independent of the Orange and Blue packages, which contain ESPN and Fox Sports respectively (the combo package that has both is $40).

This isn't a problem unique to UNT. It's a problem you see all across DFW -- no matter the team, most people are fair-weather fans. To those same fans, our game against USM was "just another game" and didn't have anything special enough about it that the casual fan would notice in the 2 seconds they take to consider going to the game. Was it a well-known or highly-ranked team? The average fan doesn't care much about USM, and they're not highly-ranked. Did this game have a special label, such as "homecoming" or "xxxx championship"? Nope, not that either. All they know is that its a game they're not drawn to, and it's (supposedly) going to rain. That's all they need to make a decision.

Praise for Mason Fine (and how far we've come)
dmaxel replied to meangreen2016's topic in Mean Green Football
Shanbour should start since he's definitely the one who knows the system way better than Bean/Martin/etc (no dig on them, but they're all still too new). I have no problem with the others coming in at some point during the game, thanks to the new rule that allows them to be in 4 games without sacrificing the redshirt. We used one game for some of them, and I don't think we'll desire their services in close games. Why not against UTEP if we have a cushion?
