Would you prefer Texas State, UTSA, Both or Neither?
Voice of Reason replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Neither. Houston and UTEP would be better rivalries by a long shot. Houston would give us a recruiting inroad in Southeast Texas and Louisiana and UTEP has the alumni in the metroplex. -
Either the coaches are getting soft or the team is really getting it. 5 Star performances are the norm on the Winter work out score cards. I am soo ready for Spring Football!

Wishing for Spring Football to Hurry Up
Voice of Reason replied to Voice of Reason's topic in Mean Green Football
I really don't think that Boutwell's position is up for grabs but again, I don't think that anyone should be comfortable. In watching the Winter workouts progress on Facebook, I would say that Boutwell is taking care of business and ABBE is certainly improving his status. -
Glad it is them and not me... that's at 6:15 am

Wishing for Spring Football to Hurry Up
Voice of Reason replied to Voice of Reason's topic in Mean Green Football
Dude, You just want to be tight end, linebacker. You can take a hit and still catch a pass? How do you know you can take a hit if you never played in High School? It ain't peewee football they are playing out there. They are freaking huge and they "break" people. AND they WILL break you! -
So that at least we can start speculating about positions and if we can watch Spring Practices instead of this Alliance/Merger stuff. Last year we were speculating about O-Line and D-Line. This year..... DBs and RBs ????????????? Ozzie/McNulty? The debate Part II. Can someone step into AK's shoes? WHO is going to be THE running back? WR's? Will they be a factor this year? Will ABBE, Cantly, Alexander or Sir Calvin Wallace take Boutwell's spot on D-Line? Will the Feldt brothers impact returning starters on the O-Line

Will UNT's New Baseball Stadium Look Similar To This
Voice of Reason replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree. Baylor Ball Park is pretty nice. The Aggies have redone Olson Field with brick work to replace the old concrete look. http://www.baylor.edu/athletics/facilities/index.php?id=43033 Arkie State and Troy are top of the line in the SunBelt. -
A&M picks up Sam Houston on Schedule
Voice of Reason replied to Voice of Reason's topic in Mean Green Football
I was looking at a return game in the future and that will not happen... And yes SH is good. But they are not LSU. Those are the quality FCS schools that you do need to play if you have to play one. -
You hit that on the head. Alabama drew 91,000 to play UNT and drew 101,000 to play Georgia Southern. It wasn't the competition that put butts in the seats.

A&M picks up Sam Houston on Schedule
Voice of Reason replied to Voice of Reason's topic in Mean Green Football
Would have been a better FCS choice than TSU on our schedule. Would have been better if ATM would have shown up on the Mean Green schedule. -
A&M has signed Sam Houston for the Nov 17th slot in their schedule.

Example of Daily Workout Report for Winter Workouts
Voice of Reason replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
Delgado beat Trice in the Sprint Challenge yesterday. Also if you note that picture of the winter warriors is from last year. Bain is no longer on the team, those are UnderArmor jerseys and Byrd changed his number to 24 this season. -
Example of Daily Workout Report for Winter Workouts
Voice of Reason replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
I posted it on here about two weeks ago. The strength coach even posted on the FB page that you could message him on his personal FB page and he would provide the scoring system. -
Winter offseason Workout Competition Update
Voice of Reason replied to Voice of Reason's topic in Mean Green Football
There is a Facebook page with all their daily performance ratings/weekly stats and team competition scores, North Texas Football Performance Forgot about Cantly - He needs to be up there too. -
Through 3 weeks of competition there is a trend that should surprise everyone. From my understanding, the high point for the week gets 10 bonus points. That would be McNaulty, Summerfield and Osborn. But here is the nice surprise. 6 of the top 12 are starting D-Line and O-Linemen (Boutwell, ABBE and McCoy and Y'Barboe, Fortenberry and Feeley) The red shirt freshman O-lineman Micah Thompson is 15th. Need to get Lemon, Johnson, Bellazin and Obi up there too

Dylan McDorman signs with North Texas
Voice of Reason replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I would say that any freshman has a large challenge in front of them when it comes to returning the D-line. Boutwell played nearly every defensive down and Abbe and Cantly were no slouches. McCoy and Obi return at the ends. There is also Bellzine and Alexander. Not so much concern as there was last year going into spring. -
Brent Osborn is the high point of the week for Winter Workout Competition. The Tip of the Spear.

It will take a lot to move Prior and Miller out of their positions.

Anyone consider that they may have medical reasons to grayshirt? Need of surgery or rehabbing from surgery?

Can they both lose and the NFL award the trophy to the Packers?

UNT Football Off Season Competition
Voice of Reason replied to Voice of Reason's topic in Mean Green Football
McNaulty was top performer this week. I am impressed with the number of DL in the Top 10 performers with ABBE, Boutwell and McCoy.
