1st UNT bowl and 1st bowl in general!

Wow. But…what can "we" do? I'm talking about real substantive action, not just "spreading the word." We need to improve our numbers and fast.

Haha…funny. And I'll keep laughing on January 1st when I see ~ 25-30k mean green fans cheering on their football team.

They've been sold out already? You'd think the Cotton Bowl would have plenty of parking space?

So UNT will bring considerably less fans to its bowl game in Dallas than it did in its late-season homecoming game. You don't really think logically sometimes, I can tell.

I really hope we get close to 40k…seems it'll be difficult though. Having 1/3 of the stadium filled won't look too good…having half or very close to half of it filled, looks better. We never filled our 31k stadium, so I'm not too sure we'll get close to 40k or more…hope the AD does more to promote this game. We certainly do have the numbers, just have to convince the normally non-fan, UNT alum, to attend this time.

The only reason I'd keep RV is if he WASN'T the sole person responsible for these terrible hires and some other issues with the department, such as marketing. Now, if it's all indeed let up to him, the he needs to go along with Benford. We need better leadership if that's the case.

We are very, very, very badly coached team. What is RV freaking thinking by still having Benford as the HC? Hope our new President doesn't put up with this nonsense.

RV needs to prove he knows how/who to hire. He hasn't done that consistently. I'm thinking an AD change if this keeps happening and he doesn't immediately acknowledge his own mistakes, i.e. Benford.

Anyone know if there will be an episode for the HOD bowl?

I going to say that no rational person would continue to back up Benford at this point. I stand by my word. Andrew doesn't sound like a rational person. I hope our AD is starting to realize this and puts his ego on the side and acknowledges he made another bad hire with this one and proceeds to move on and fix this problem.

Forgot you already played your bowl game. Sorry, but we have a real bowl game to worry about. Next year we'll talk about us beating you on the road but right now nobody around here cares about that game anymore.

So, for those who don't buy their tickets through UNT (which will be many), how will the bowl determine how many UNT fans are in the stadium? Do they try to measure this?

Who cares what they say. Nobody really pays attention to those worthless ranks. What's far more important is that this bowl has a pretty good pay out of $ +1million. That's better than several other bowls. That is what really matters. We're in a good bowl, now let's just make sure we win it and sustain success in the future.

So is the west side typically the home side but they switched it up for this game? Because what the HOD folks told me is that UNT is definitely the home team.

Thanks. I'm still a student (graduate), so getting the resources to make this trip happen has been quite a challenge. But yeah, never experienced a season like this since my first year at UNT was back in 2005 when we started losing. So as a big fan, I think I would eventually strongly regret not making this temporary sacrifice in order to experience something this awesome and exciting and unique. Oh, by the way, you were right--I'm a guy.

Would FAU perhaps get a bid to Hawaii? I know we're going to HOD, just curious to know who ends up in Hawaii. So, as soon as it's official, I'll book my ticket back to Dallas all the way from Europe. Yup, that's how important this will be and, well, I have family in Dallas as well, so that's obviously a plus for me personally. Really excited!

DT = Dual Threat. Did you see that nice run he made?!? And that pass to D. Smith?!? Speechless. All kidding aside, I wish him nothing but the best and thank him for helping lead this team...but first let's hope he steps up in our bowl game!

You are underestimating the huge role President Rawlins had in hiring coach Mac. I wouldn't be giving RV all the credit for that hire.

Sorry, I hope living in a continent across the Atlantic is good enough reason for missing out and NBAB (not being a b*itch).

I feel that if RV doesn't pull the plug early enough, our new President will have to pull the plug on RV as well. And no, I don't think he is a "bad" AD, and love his passion, but when it comes to very important hiring decisions, he hasn't shown top competence in addressing those in a timely manner when they evidently go wrong. Hope he realizes that now and addresses this situation very soon.

Those who still continue to back Benford...are just like those who continued to back Dodge. I hope our soon-to-be new President fires RV if he doesn't address this situation soon. Honestly, I love RV's passion and have no doubt he works his tail off...but let's be realistic, he doesn't have the best track record when it comes to hiring quality head coaches. What happened to hiring a head coach with previous proven experience? That really bothers me...the fact that he didn't stick to his word on that.
