  1. The fact is that it's an embarrassment that he is in his fifth year of coaching a D1 team and it happens, of course, to be with little 'ol UNT...If we want to get serious about sports, we need to make statements and keeping him this year just shows we are ok with extending another year of mediocrity.
  2. Would be nice to get updates on how ticket sales are doing.
  3. Hope you don't......plenty other green shirts you can wear.
  4. Well, don't see how UNT fans can buy this for the actual game...we need to all wear green, not black. Hope whoever buys this shirt doesn't wear it at the game, we want a green wave, not a black and green wave of fans.
  5. Black?!? Wow...Someone needs to e-mail the AD about this...
  6. In this instance, yes, it is stupidity to bitch about us playing against Army at the HOD bowl.
  7. anyone have an idea of what happened?
  8. You're passionate about defending your "logic" most of the time. I think most of us get it and not saying it's a bad thing. However, life is not always about having to defend your position at all costs. In this instance, for example, it's useless to defend and argue about this coaching hire comparison. Yes, Littrell was a riskier hire than Fritz would've been. However, risk sometimes in life pays the greatest returns in life. We're all hoping that the risk was well worth the reward with Littrell, and if so, this one could end up being a much better hire than Fritz. There's also a good chance that won't ever be the case, so it's just pointless to waste time arguing about the same point over and over again, especially over something that has already been decided on...#fireRV.
  9. I have not seen this posted yet but I might have missed it. If you haven't already, take a look at the Baltimore Raven's "Wired" episode featuring our own Zach Orr. This is encouraging and I hope he continues to impress and becomes a solid starter linebacker for many years to come. We were lucky to have him in Denton. 10. Vito forgot to mention Jamize Olawale in the list of current North Texas NFL players that started as undrafted free agents.
  11. I thought Jarvis Christian and Texas College were scrimmages. It's basically like beating a DIII team in football. The other two teams we beat have a 3-20 combined record. How much more suffering until Benford is gone? We have enough of that with RV sticking around.
  12. Is that your way of saying you think the paragraph is too long and contains varying topics? No such thing as an actual formal rule on "run-on" paragraphs. Longer paragraphs with varying topics within a paragraph were actually common in the past and now the consensus in English is progressively toward breaking them up. This is largely a question about what best serves the communication between writer and reader. But thanks for the valuable input. Didn't know that my my post was being held to the same standard on gmg.com than that of an official press release representing the university.
  13. I am not sure what you mean by "perfectly" but I agree that it should read fluidly and concisely. Anything representing the university should be dealt with professionalism and competence but we already know the Athletic Department is vastly lacking in that department.
  14. News announcements like these about hires that contain biographical information don't require high-level written prose--they're purely informational. Stylistically, perhaps the writer could have put a tiny bit more effort in transitions. It's also true that there are some grammatical "mistakes" regarding syntax, namely comma splices and a run-on sentence or two. I put quotation marks on "mistakes" because while these are rule violations within contemporary consensus, sentence-structure rules like these evolve over time and are never fixed. Grammar is an evolving and rather arbitrary linguistic structure, and we shouldn't be so uptight about these syntactic rule violations unless they completely distort the original intended meaning of the sentence. Not sure what else you found but I did not read it in much depth. Also, I think this Athletic Department has proven to be lacking a bit in efficiency and competence. Thus, these type of issues are probably the least of the AD's concerns. We could probably stack up the list of embarrassments this AD surrounds itself around all day.
  15. I think we should be trying to reach the 300k range for OC/DC and I hope it's actually feasible since there is another school in CUSA that pays their OC a little over 300k, maybe even more than one. Haven't done the in-depth research.
  16. Haha, I can read. I am not asking you directly, it was more of a rhetorical question and addressing your own comment saying we'll be ahead in C-USA, which might not be the case.
  17. Where is MTSU?? I saw they pay their coach $1 million...we might still surpass that but it'll be close.
  18. Does anyone know or have a source of what the OC will be paid? Western Kentucky was paying their DC 305k...so I see us stepping up to that range at the very least.
  19. He made that much as a WR's coach...man has this CFB arms race gotten out of control. But good we're trying to keep up. Thanks, rich supporters.
  20. I'm actually going. Not because I support Benford or the AD but because I want to see a game with the new jumbotron scoreboard and have time tomorrow. I have a feeling my girlfriend and I will have plenty of space to move around.
  21. If RV messes up this FB coaching hire...I simply could not understand anyone's logic on supporting the man. Regarding Benford....it's also pretty darn evident the man has no clue what he is doing.
  22. Ok, seriously, I am NOT that much of a masochist and dumb person to continue to support this program in any way, shape or form (means also following it) if RV messes this up and is still leading UNT athletics. I would expect those of you with a sense of dignity and intellect to also abandom this regime RV heads and hit them in their pockets until there is no other option but to fire the dictator who considers us "minute few". We were one of the first (if not the first?) schools to fire our head coach and now looks like we'll be one of the last ones to hire one, if not the last.
  23. Anybody think this team gets over 10 wins this season? I would be surprised if they do. Let's keep in mind the two early wins of the season should NOT count. Seems like both BB and FB coaches will be fired in the same season...thanks, RV.
