Always a positive to have more mean green fan friends!
-
Haha. I don't know about depressing.
-
Sounds good! How would I contact you?
-
Oh ok, thanks. Good to know!
-
Well, a friend of mine gave his ticket and he's a student. I'm not sure I can use that ticket, so I may have to buy one once I get there. I don't hold season tickets. Where exactly is sect. 210?
-
True. I'm just one of those people that feels strange if I go alone. But, I definitely don't want to watch a baseball game in lieu of my mean green!
-
Turns out all my friends have bailed out on the UNT game and decided today not to go. I already have a ticket (I'm an alumni) and still want to go. However, I've never been to a game alone. Has anyone experienced this in the past?
-
Well, I guess they didn't make much of a priority since the surrounding areas are filled with palm trees and the atlantic ocean. I believe the way SMU's stadium is set up makes it much easier to cover up. FAU clearly took the approach of going all out on the interior and didn't mind much about the outside. Honestly, I don't know how nice our own stadium looks from the outside from some angles. At times it can look a bit odd, so I don't know how much we actually went for looks on the outside (due to I35).
-
I'm not sure. I stick to my premise that FAU decided to allocate more of their money on expensive aesthetics on the inside and ran out of money to do much on the outside. Plus, it's harder to cover up an erector set and wouldn't justify the cost. I believe that NT and Rick were going for the "big-time" stadium look and feel, and that's certainly what it gives. To get that, you have to make the entire stadium look consistent and nice, but not necessarily "pretty" and fancy.
-
How so? Fouts Field isn't entirely covered up...I'm sure it had to do with continuity, not I-35. And I wouldn't know, couldn't go to the Tulsa game :/
-
I am happy for them too. In fact, I don't think anyone is "unhappy" for them. And they did mainly go for aesthetics and comfort on the inside...probably ran out of money to make it look pretty on the outside, and it's pretty hard to make an erector set stadium look pretty on the outside.

It does seem that it will be a loud stadium the way it's set up

ECU and UCF to Big East Tomorrow
bleedgreen4ever replied to GreenGuy123's topic in Mean Green Football
As long as SMU is in CUSA, we won't be in that conference. It would make no sense for them to add us. We'd have a greater chance of going to the MWC. -
SMU's stadium cost about $20 million less than ours. However, there really is no comparison. I think SMU's stadium cost was good, but ours was more of a bargain.
-
What is your deal? Nobody is trying to put FAU's stadium down. Not that I could read on here. People are just making honest comparisons to both stadiums. I think it is rather clear why most fans think Apogee is more of a "big-time" stadium, whereas FAU went for aesthetics mainly.
-
As a stadium, I agree, not even close. Aesthetically...I have to say that FAU's stadium is nice "looking." Now, I'd rather have a stadium that is built to last and to establish itself as a major collegiate stadium than one that is built mainly through aesthetically-pleasing parameters. I'm just amazed at how much of a bargain our stadium was for the price.

We hired the right people (those who constructed the Cowboys stadium).

ECU and UCF to Big East Tomorrow

The Big East has already made it clear they are interested and now are resorting to acting on offers rather soon. They most likely WILL get an invitation (UCF and ECU) from the Big East. They at least hold a chance for them to try to maintain their AQ status as opposed to completely dissolving as a football conference (the other alternative). -
I don't think anyone is really saying anything negative about FAU's new stadium. There is nothing wrong about making comparisons and thinking that our stadium is a more important stadium. A concrete stadium will always be taken more seriously than an erector set stadium, just saying. Aside from comparisons, I'm super happy FAU has a really nice new stadium that fits well with the demographic and region. Btw, we spent about 10 million dollars more and our stadium was a big-time bargain...there is a reason why it's a more important stadium. I wish all Sunbelt teams get new or upgraded stadiums, as it would only help the conference as a whole.
-
Nice ending. We can definitely beat both of these teams, especially as we play them at Apogee.
-
seat backs can easily be put. Apogee stadium as a whole is way more important. Just think concrete vs steel...come on, not to mention all the other amazing features it has. What you are talking about are just added aesthetics that can be easily added in the future.
-
In the video you can tell that it's somewhat visible from high up. Still, pretty cool it's that close. As a stadium though, it doesn't really come that close to ours in my opinion. Ours was really a bargain for the price.

I'd rather see us in the MWC than CUSA -
Steel vs. Concrete. Our suite boxes are way bigger. Apogee is way better all around. However, I'm not denying that FAU's stadium is nice, especially with it's view to the Atlantic Ocean. Other than that, as a stadium, no comparison with Apogee.

However guys, let's not forget about the MWC. They lost TCU and therefore lost the DFW market. I don't think SMU is all that interest in going to the MWC. We could be a very viable potential target for them.
