Still disappointed nobody has asked him why on earth did he keep Fine playing in the fourth quarter.

Clearly you don't understand what type of parity exists in CUSA.

Remember when our players called out people leaving early?
bleedgreen4ever replied to Caw Caw's topic in Mean Green Football
I honestly don't understand how this happens. I truly hope the program is truly on the upswing to where we want to be but performances this horrendous make it hard to see when, if ever, we'll have a truly consistent team. Guess wait another couple of years...just gets old as a mean green fan. -
Jalen Guyton Added to Biletnikoff Award Watchlist

I wonder the exact same thing! I get excited when watching him play but get to smile and at times laugh plenty when watching his interviews--guy is naturally funny! -
Official FAU Game Score Prediction Thread
bleedgreen4ever replied to MeanGreenTexan's topic in Mean Green Football
This is another tough game to predict. Could go either way. But I won't doubt our team enough to predict a loss and I hope they are focused enough this week. Boca Chica 28 Mean Green 35 -
There are ZERO guaranteed wins. Some might be less challenging than others but none of them are guaranteed, especially with our hard-working but still inconsistent and maturing team.

I didn't get much of why we are hated rivals all of the sudden with UTSA. First time I read their board and man...there are some special folks over there. I guess I have a better understanding now. I don't really know why fan bases start attacking the other school's academics...it's sport talk and should stay at that.
-
Right...I think talking points like this would start to make at least some students think twice about UNT football as a just a "loser program" and start paying more attention and feeling more pride eventually for their school. The easy conclusion everyone falls back on is "until we win consistently"...and I think there's much more to it and that's a lazy argument. There are losing programs in FBS that still bring in solid crowds solely because people have school pride coming from tradition beyond the "Ls" and "W's" and have fun while they're at it, ie tailgating, etc.
-
When they answer that it's because "we suck", do you try to educate them briefly on why we can be an exciting team to watch and that we have a good chance at heading to another bowl game this season? To start changing any cultural perceptions, education comes first. Most of those students say that yet they know nothing about our current program.

Yeah, UAB is somewhat hard to gauge still but I still at this moment wouldn't put them on the level of LAT and UTSA, clearly. However, I think if they clean up a few things, they'll be up there sooner than later because they have the talent. We are somewhat on the same boat, so it all comes down to how fast can we show more consistency to contend with the top end of the division. Only time will tell. I'm certainly not discounting this win, just pointing out visible areas we need to improve on.

I clearly do care because I'm saying I am favoring us to win those two games from what I've seen so far, not talking about Vegas or any of that. Of course anything can happen and we could end up losing against UTEP and Rice and beating LAT and UTSA but that's less likely to happen based on current performances. So far Seth's teams (last year and so far this year) show strong potential but then have strong inconsistencies from game to game so who knows what will happen--we could end up conference champs. But if things were to remain unchanged, I'd only see us beating UTEP and Rice with some level of "comfort" but of course things change as the season progresses...I think that's well known.

I'm not disappointed like the person who posted but I do agree that this game has alarmingly exposed many worrisome deficiencies in this team and coaching staff. I was mostly surprised by how poorly the secondary played and how UAB out-coached our coaches in the second half. Our halftime adjustments aren't working and we have to keep maturing as a program if we even want to get to a bowl game. Moreover, UTSA is clearly at a higher level than UAB so far from what they've shown compared to UAB so I don't think anybody would be disappointed in a close W against them. We will be underdogs in that game, whereas we were favored in this game.

Baylor just went toe-to-toe with a playoff contender, Oklahoma. Of course they're having an off year but UTSA is still a solid team. UTSA and LA Tech still appear to be the realistic contenders to win the west. I'd love for us to be up there but we haven't shown any consistency as a program (players and coaches) for us to be in the conversation. I just hope we can manage to get to 6 wins and go bowling. The only remaining games I see us clearly favored to win are UTEP and to lesser extent Rice. Then FAU and Old Dominion will come down to how much we improve. Southern Miss i just don't think we'll improve enough by when we play them (hope I'm wrong) and then we have Army that has a strong team again and I wouldn't want to go into that game needing W to get to 6.

Our coaching staff is young and it shows. Need to be smarter and make better second half adjustments. Defense overall needs to improve greatly.
-
Very disappointed in the Defense.

Finally something positive out of ST

La Tech is not the best team in our conference. I don't think they're even a top 3 team this year (overall not talking about the West division). But I agree that CUSA is very weak as a conference.

Houston area thoughts and prayer
bleedgreen4ever replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
Here in Houston visiting family and we are stuck but safe inside with power and water. Unfortunately that is not the case for several others in surrounding areas. Thanks to all who are sending positive thoughts this way. -
I had a feeling I was missing something. Guess we should throw in golf as well while we're at it. Nonetheless, I think having the basketball arena there would make the village something special despite not technically having all sports over there.
-
I think a state-of-the-art basketball arena next to apogee would be terrific...fully moving athletics across 35. As long as parking is accounted for and isn't an issue, this would help continue to "complete" the athletic village into something quite special.

Ranking of the Value of C-USA Programs
bleedgreen4ever replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
What a joke this ranking is. Unt is top 5 in value in CUSA and once we increase attendance Apogee attendance and win consistently we'll be by far at the very top. In this conference we have more than potential. Our true potential should be one of the top G5 programs hoping to get into a P5, like Houston. -
Breaking! Bob stoops is retiring.
bleedgreen4ever replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
Despite speculation on here, Seth isn't leaving Denton anytime soon. Not to OU, not to any other P5 for at least another two seasons. -
Is it time to drop "North Texas" and become UNT?
bleedgreen4ever replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I like the idea of Denton University. DU or University of Denton, UD. Directional problem gone and who knows, maybe we'll get more support from the Denton community.
