I really don't think SMU is better than us this season. Rice...we'll see.

Not sure if this has been posted already, but what a good start for the Men's CC team! North Texas men's cross country team finished first at the Bear Twilight Invitational this Friday. The Mean Green had six top 20 performances on the men's side. Junior Alejandro Valencia finished third with a time of 18:38.9. The women placed fifth out of eight teams. "The first meet of the season shows where the men and women stand after a summer of training," said Coach Slekis. "Overall how the Mean Green competed gave a positive insight going into the 2013-14 season." Next up for North Texas cross country is the Gerald Richey Invitational Saturday Sept. 14, in Arlington Texas. Men's Team Score North Texas: 37 Texas: 48 Baylor: 70 Texas A&M: 109 Houston: 114 TCU: 156 Texas State: 171 Women's Team Score Baylor: 25 SMU: 30 Texas: 84 Texas A&M: 142 North Texas: 156 Houston: 175 Texas State: 176 TCU: 216 http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/c-xc/recaps/083113aaa.html

DT looked great. And I am excited about the future with Williams leading the team next year (most likely). McNulty didn't seem too comfortable and we didn't see BB at all. Hopefully DT stays healthy and DW continues to get some playing time throughout in order to be ready to lead the team next season. Excited about the season!

So, last night I remember my dream where I was extremely disappointed since we had horrendous attendance for tomorrow's game — probably 5k max. I know, it was a dream, but I think the reason was Labor Day weekend. I previously predicted 27k to attend but didn't account for the long weekend, so I am not expecting much over 20k this time. Hopefully I am dead wrong and we sell out and completely vandalize those vandals we're playing.

Tulsa Bowling Green starts in 10 ESPNU
bleedgreen4ever replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
It didn't look as if Tulsa was really all that into the game. They are most likely better than that. However, I think the West is pretty open this season and there aren't any obvious favorites at this point. -
Don't have a tailgating spot, but to get there early and meet some people along the way.

GoMeanGreen.com Reputation Standings 8.26.13

I am 100% behind you. To add, to me it seems a bit silly to have a college-level forum with a "reputation" point-based system and counter-productive for the reasons you mentioned. -
UNT fans are about to see a whole lot more on TV
bleedgreen4ever replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
It might help for him to have someone help proofread his blog entries, but I am positive that is too expensive and he is a pretty busy guy. Anyone who writes several blogs per day on top of other priorities will have typos or some careless mistakes by default. -
A lot of you seem to be ignoring the importance that depth has on a team. This will be the difference this year. We may not have superstars all over replacing last year's starters, but we sure do have more depth. It means we will have fresher legs stepping in throughout the game, which in any team sport makes a big difference.

All I know is that he is already going to UNT but not sure why he isn't yet included in the roster.

UNT 41 Idaho 17 UNT is a better team than any of the teams in the past 8 years. This one won't be close. Attendance...first season opener at home in so many years. Great underclassmen attendance; lots of freshmen/sophmore excitement. I predict 27k at minimun and with a large percentage staying after the first half. This will help with attendance for the second home game as well.

Never been to a women's soccer game. Who's going to this one? Thinking about it. Would be nice to see a competitive and talented UNT team play.

Question for those predicting less than 6 wins
bleedgreen4ever replied to MeanGreenHoops's topic in Mean Green Football
I understand that based on the past, fans are very skeptical about this team winning games. However, to me it's pretty evident that this team is not like our past teams. Why? The mere fact that we have more depth and competition in most positions. Add to that the big amount of motivation and passion permeating throughout the team and I think that's enough reason to believe we will reach at least six wins this season. It's very doable in my eyes and much more realistic than in the past. -
Is the mock game today also closed to the public?

Shaquel Jackson talks about commitment to UNT
bleedgreen4ever replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Was there ever an update on his decision? Haven't found much on him since. -
Yeah, some fans may be, which will always happen. But, the coaches and players are not and I can guarantee you that. I am sure they'll enjoy the game after a tough battle I am sure your revamped team is ready but they still know it is a must-win situation and will play accordingly.

Yeah but we all know pre-season ratings mean squat. We still have to win without a doubt, but just mentioning the obvious about worthless ratings.
-
There is plenty of evidence to show how talent and maturity in some cases outweigh "D1 experience." I honestly don't care who starts, as long as the guy who is best skilled to help us win does. I'm sure the coaches are throwing his name around for a reason.
-
Hey, if he's the best QB, then it's a no-brainer. At this point, the coaches have to do whatever it takes to put us in a position to win. Is there a way to watch a replay of the press conference?
-
The uniforms are fine, throwback and the normal ones for the rest of the season. All I care about is that we win. Honestly, that's all I care about at this point.

Jeffrey Wilson's recruitment by UNT
bleedgreen4ever replied to jtm0097's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
We should easily be able to beat out those two Sunbelt teams. I would think he's waiting for those other potential offers to come in before making a decision. -
“I decommitted from ArkansasState,” he reported to Scout.com via text message in late July. “It was a tough decision, but I realized I made an anxious decision of committing before I went up there. In the end though, [you've] got to do what’s best for you. I just didn’t feel like I could be there for four years.” But he definitely feels he can be at Baylor for four years and is now considered a solid commit. I could not envision living in Waco, TX for 4 years. But good for him. We should still be able to get some important commits and have a solid recruiting class. Would have still been a nice get, for sure.
-
Seems like he may be waiting for a "big" offer, but so far it's looking promising. Would be a good get for UNT. Hopefully the early relationship with the coaching staff convinces him to commit, regardless of other commitments he may get. Also mentions he may wait until the end of the season, so a winning season would really help recruiting-wise for athletes like him who need that extra time.
