  1. I thought the show was pretty solid. Like ColoradoEagle said, there are a few things that could have been edited slightly better but overall seemed like a good documentary-style show. They profiled the controversy behind DT being our starter and a little bit about our program's history and the then a whole segment on our 100th year anniversary. The last segment showing our first game was good, just thought they could have ended it with something more...it kind of ended a little abruptly. McCarney can really pump the team up and I liked they showed those locker room scenes. I hope we continue this beyond this season!
  2. This one could either way. We all know that. But, I feel that the mean green will continue to put the MEAN in the GREEN and steal the win on the road. UNT 24 Ohio 21
  3. I'm most definitely glad UNT did not waste its money on someone like you. Too bad it even went as far as offering you a scholarship.
  4. Wow, people saying our entrance is fine? There is A LOT that we and the AD can do to make the football game experience more exciting. No, it's not fine.
  5. DoggyStyle, nobody cares about your fictitious "electric" games. First off, your renovated stadium doesn't hold 50k, its capacity is 45k tops. Second, there is no real "hype" the way I am discussing in this thread. We don't have it yet either, but we are talking about getting there and the number of people doesn't matter to create an energetic environment. Your post is irrelevant and quite sad that you have to bend the truth to act so superior to us. Must be fun to live in fantasy land. Nobody here "fears the frog," haha. Anyway, I shouldn't be feeding the troll, woops.
  6. Certainly. These things stick with fans, especially students and motivate them to continue going to games, even if the team isn't wining national championships. We really should be pushing more for this as fans.
  7. I don't know but it was back to normal at one point during the Idaho game because the cheerleading squad finally knew how to instruct the chant. However, the NT chant, like seen in our last game is easy to fix, but raising the bar in terms of excitement and tradition during games is what we're struggling with--the whole point of this thread.
  8. Yeah, I didn't like the timing nor what the song did for excitement (seven nation army song). However, I would rather go with a song like 300 Violin Orchestra as an entrance song. Perhaps the down with the sickness song can be played between quarters during first or second half, but also like the song I posted above -- the zombie nation remix. On top of all that we could still keep the Hey Baby, there's time for it all throughout the game.
  9. I like it! Not sure about the helmet though as it doesn't show what it has on the sides. But I like this as it has a modern look but also brings back old school elments.
  10. How about this remix for zombie nation for a song between the 3rd and 4th quarter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFsgMGMvWcM The first 55 seconds to a minute could be good to get fans pumped and jump around and dance to. The regular zombie nation tune is overused, but this brings uniqueness and it's more upbeat so that fans can move and jump around to. Little john could perhaps be muted after the beginning -- I'm more into the melody and tempo of the song. The idea of having the big screen instructing fans to go crazy as the song starts could really get a tradition like this going. Any other ideas?
  11. This. And reason why the AD should get behind this and provide some "instruction" for fans to follow along with the right tunes that create that "hyped" environment. I also feel strong about not being able to see the team before their entrance.
  12. I think out of those for the team's entrance my favorite is 300 Violin Orchestra. Our students certainly get loud and jump/dance to that tune right before the team enters.
  13. We get your point about being loud, irrespective of any added "celebratory" promotion. However, why can't we have both? What's fancy about playing a song that really gets you jumping and hyped and about an entrance that really gets the juices flowing and the players aren't actually already on the field and visible before their entrance?
  14. Right, but I really do feel it helps tremendously if there is something for fans to look forward to. Look at the links I provided and tell me you wouldn't want "a song" being played to create more excitement? The loudness on downs is something that can be easily corrected but to create something with some tradition behind, it'll take some help from the AD. That's what I'm pushing for.
  15. Pageantry...hmmm. Anyway, going back to the topic of the thread, this is quite an important topic of discussion to generate a more robust fanbase with our students who'll then become alumni wanted badly to continue going to games. I was being serious about generating an attempt to actually make this happen in the future. The more you pressure who's in control, the more chance you have of making it happen. And these things are often overlooked by the AD even though they're very important as most students and even many alumni will testify. Moreover, these things aren't costly or hard to implement, whatsoever. I'd like to see if some of you have any good ideas so we can then proceed and pitch these to the AD.
  16. I agree with you on how the entrance and I think we top that off with some fireworks. Regarding the song between the 3rd and 4th quarter, I think we need to establish a tradition and stick to one song that makes students jump or dance in a hyped environment -- meaning it has to be a song that generates that hype like the "jump around" song does. I am still thinking of possible songs for this.
  17. After talking with some students after the Idaho game, I realized I wasn't the only one craving for more hype during our games. Every student I talked to agreed that they really would like the environment to be more hyped. As you know, our students can get loud, but we need some help from the organizers to take our games to the next level that most well-established programs have in terms of hype. One thing that I don't like very much is our team's official entrance. For one, you can easily see the team enter the field before they are announced, which creates confusion to some that begin cheering thinking they already entered. Why can't the team stay "inside" the tunnel while we have something that helps them be less visible that they can penetrate through when they're announced? I feel seeing them before they're announced takes away the "hype" that so many fans and students love. Moreover, the level of hype is pathetic for our entrances and I think it is getting worse each year. Students don't even get as excited with the intro video as they are viewing the team already on the field. A good example of a great entrance is Virginia Tech's "Enter Sandman" by Metallica entrance. Look at VT's hype before the entrance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIgKJSANc1A Moreover, I think we should create another tradition that can generate more hype during the second half. Perhaps it could give a reason for some to stay longer. Wisconsin has a tradition between the 3rd and 4th quarter where their students go crazy jumping with the song "Jump Around" by House of Pain is introduced (I know many of you probably are aware of this). Wisconsin's Jump Around: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tODlPxhbGF8 Some may say it's much easier for those teams because their stadiums are full with excited fans in attendance. I personally don't feel that we need our stadium to be sold out in order to attempt these traditions that generate more hype and excitement, especially for our younger fans who really crave this type of environment in a game. I feel that if we start doing things like this, word will spread of how exciting games are and more people will attend games, guaranteed. Top that with winning and we can get that hyped with a sold out crowd on a consistent basis in the future. What do you think it would take to convince the AD to introduce traditions like these that make the games more memorable? We NEED to give more reasons for students and other casual fans to attend games on top of winning. Win AND create these environments and we'll have much less debates over how to increase attendance in the future. Your thoughts on how we can get this done or introduce these concepts to the AD?
  18. Yeah, well, as a former music major at UNT, I can confidently say that I do not go to the games to watch the marching band play. It's a nice bonus, if you will, but I go to watch football. Once we start growing this program and changing negative perceptions, more people will be excited to go watch some mean green football. Everything in life is about perception and that's what we need to fight to change so things start going our way. It'll always be an added benefit to have such a great band, but let's pull for the football team being the main attraction that everyone is excited to see.
  19. I know you're mostly nothing more than a troll on this board, but sometimes I can't contain myself when you say things without any facts. Out-recruited us??? Really? You have absolutely no facts to back that baseless claim, but then again, you're nothing but a troll, nothing but a troll...
  20. I liked the uniforms but we could try those with different helmets. The only thing about the uniform would be having the players' names on the back. I prefer to easily see who's playing and it makes it hard without their names shown.
  21. This is not a realistic conversation because it won't happen, but for the sake or clarification, IF we do win, Georgia couldn't possibly be 0-4 because we're their third game. Moreover, they play South Carolina before us and they always play them very tough, so I'm not sure they'll lose against them or if they do, it'll be a very close game and respectable loss and would still be ranked in the top 16 going into our game.
  22. That's not being realistic. If you look at what other teams from non-AQ conferences have done to be ranked recently, you'll find it realistic that beating a team like Georgia and going 4-0 would most likely get us ranked. Unless Georgia gets routed by South Carolina. ULM got several votes after barely beating a horrendous Arkansas team without proving anything beforehand as it was their first game. After Arkansas got routed by Alabama and ULM lost their second game, they STILL got votes. But then again, nothing ever seems to go our way and in that scenario who knows what would happen but it would certainly be enough to crack the top 25 in "realistic" terms. Anyway, like I said, this conversation is pointless because non of that will happen. Maybe one day we will be ranked after consistently winning games and bowls, but a key victory against a powerful opponent goes a loooong way in college football.
  23. Are you freaking kidding me? 4-0 with a win over a top SEC team and that *might* get as A vote? You clearly don't know how this all works. If we accomplish that, we'll be ranked. Period. However, that won't happen, so it's not worth even discussing. Actually, if we go 3-0 and play Georgia close, then we will mostly still get votes. And, unfortunately, that is pretty unlikely, however not completely unrealistic.
  24. Of course he can't troll when his beloved TCU team does so poorly and we're on top. He probably ran out of trolling lines to write on this one. GMG!
  25. Do you know why the coach left or was he fired? I agree with you and hope that the sport won't start to be overlooked. We have some talent on both sides (M&W) and would hate to undermine a successful program just to start a new one (which we could perfectly do without cutting resources from another existing sport).
