  1. So, you are saying this WASN'T UNTs charitable visit to play a game with the inmates?
  2. Well, I would assume the staff at the very least knows which ones of these are worth going after, and which ones just couldn't cut it.
  3. I guess this is to see what kind of NIL deals are out there for him, seing as there probably isn't too much if going the NFL route. If you can get to 50-80k at college level, you essentially are a pro. Maybe there is a place willing to pony that up for him. Wish him the best as long as he isn't playing NT.
  4. Someone explain to me why only now. He was neither the DC at his position and ISU isn't even having a bowl game. And I doubt they had much turnover. So wht wait until after NSD
  5. I don't get the logic behind this. Why should NT have to wait for another school to get their class done. When other schools hire NTs coaches they don't wait for NSD to be over, they do it before, because it is important. Also, it might play well with the coaches you leave behind. but i doubt it plays well with the players who committed to playing with you and then you leave immediately.
  6. I kind of feel for IWU. The coaching staff got raided the second year in a row, and folks take some of the players and recruits to boot. Not that NT would be treated better, but still. They took a good number of correct decisions to build up, and now are left having to do almost all of it again from square one.
  7. Could the threads from last year be unpinned? I get confused (partially because i was looking for this years signing day thread).
  8. As the portal has taken speed and is sifting through the levels, I think that more and more of what used to be FBS level quality HS recruits end up at an FCS or even DII in their first stop. If they make it to all conference there, it is going to be more meaningful than it was 5 years ago. Getting those guys will get harder too though, as fewer HS recruits are taken across the entire FBS level. If I was an FCS coach however, now would probably be the time to go heavier on high school kids than ever before. There is just more talent available than there used to be. You won't keep them, but you wouldn't keep transfers either and you also don't get first or second pick there anyway.
  9. That is a BIG win for Rice. Not sure its enough though.
  10. I like the catch-all title of "assistant coach" there, without any description of position. Can put that in and go out look for any need you have. That said, I doubt the 10 day rule is as much of a problem as folks make it out to be.
  11. Yes. And other than Navy, they were all faster than NT at replacing their coach and preparing for the next season and are all ahead at staff building. And since navy promoted from within, I assume that even navy has more coaches on board for next season than NT.
  12. That is obviously true, and Sonny Dykes at SMU realized this pretty much before everyone else, while SL kind of refused to see it the first two years and paid the prize. However, to play the devils advocate: Those players that you transfer in, they have to develop somewhere first. if all G5s do it like this, then there will not be enough players around for everyone. Sure some of what used to be FBS talent will go to FCS first, but it is unlikely to be enough and P5s are unlikely to be the places that look to develop all those high school players either. The amount of players used in FBS will not actually get reduced however and there will be much less available first time transfers eventually as the years where schools take in less HS players start to add up. This just kind of gets papered over right now (and the portal made worse because of it), because there are sooo many players with extra eligbility because of the COVID year. That year of extra eligibility may have been fair to the players that played 2020, but it was completely unfair to the guys who are coming in in 2023. In any case, at some point the pendulum may swing the other way, as the available talent out of high school gets better and better because sooo many schools bypass it to fill up on the portal. Still, in the future going the high school route will indeed be super risky for G5s who will not have the NIL game to keep them from transferring to a P5.
  13. I am a bit worried that not a single name has been given so far. i get that he may not have the full staff ready yet, but not a single guy who wants to jump in with him right away and who can start recruiting with him?
  14. That is nprobably game over. Perry from 3 makes it while drawing the 5th foul from Cross. That oughta do it.
  15. I get it. But this is not an easy one to ref. Both teams extremely phyiscal and scrappy while also (particularly UMass) being a bit loose with the ball on offense. Makes for a lot of tricky situations
  16. Jones fouled out. In comes Stone who also already has 4. NT up 8 with 5 min to go.
  17. Cross picks up his fourth with 7:20 to go. NT also has some of its bigger guys in trouble, but Cross with 4 or fouling out is definitely a BIG deal for what UMass wants to do.
  18. exactly. And with the amount of fouls going around, I can see him having to come back in, so its good to see he was calm and collected in his first outing
  19. Can I say that Sissoko was in there for 2 minutes only, but I thought he did well and I wouldn't mind seeing him for 2-5 more minutes
  20. UMass starting to get less disciplined and NT is taking advantage so far.
  21. The hustle is there. But shooting 22% so far. Open looks may not be a ton, but definitely more than would necessitate as low as 22% shooting.
  22. Perry down. Hit the back of the head hard.
  23. 1-10 from 3 right now. Shooting even semi ok would be the lead now.
  24. Starting to get looks. just not making them.
