ESPN s analysts are not that bullish on the Sun Belt: If I counted correctly they project 2 / 3 teams in Bowls... I do get the feeling though that they are not really doing their homework well and are underestimating.

Well with all the ineligbile teams this season, it is hard to see teams getting left out if they do get eligible. At some point bowls might not have another option but to take a eam from the belt, even if there are no tie ins. That said, the sun belt would have to get 6 eligible, and even with the good play this OOC season, I got a hard time seing that. 5 Seems possible though. FIU for example has a hill to climb to get eligible

You think that will work? Maybe for LSUs or Bamas, but say for Houston, SMU, Ole Miss etc, even if they schedule tough non-conf, do they really have a shot at the 4-team playoff? Don't think those kinds of programs get much incentive to schedule up.

While their competition was bad so far I still think they might quite possibly get to 9-3... after all they still have some teams on their schedule that... well....are not impossible to beat, even for a team that is not very legit: Rice, Tstate san Marcos, Idaho and McNeese state. These teams are a combined 3-10 vs FBS competition and 3-2 vs FCS (and it would look worse without MCNeese in the group). luckily there are some NCAA provisions from getting bowl eligible with that kind of schedule

In a way this game is a bit of the opposite of the one against troy, where we actually played better than the oposition in many ways, but couldn't get the W, while this time we did not really play better than the opponent, but managed to get the W.

After he was taken out last week for not getting two above 40yarders in, he came back strong this week, and it was very important. Should be a real confidence booster, for him and for Macs trust in his special teams. This clearly was our best special teams effort of the season so far (Ok that doesn't take much)

So i was looking at the bowl projections this week. Of course I know I should not do this. it is week 4 and all and way to early etc. Well I did it anyway. http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/bowls/predictions http://espn.go.com/college-football/bowls/projections I could not quite help being surprised at how differently people see certain things: The guy on CBS sports sees 5 Sun Belt teams in Bowls (but only 4 C-USA), while one guy on ESPN sees only the minimum of 2 (but 6 C-USA)! When it comes to surprising consistency: everybody still seems convinced that 1-3 Arkansas will go bowling after a grueling SEC season, I admitt that one puzzes me. Personally I think that 6-6 teams are improbable to not be chose this season, seing all the ineligible teams out there. What is ya'lls take. If we scrable to a 6-6 will we get in (and yes I believe it is still a realistic possibility that we make that)?

At least you are consistent, and optimists are sure a thing this program needs right now. I still think a 5-7 or 6-6 season is realistic (my but is on the record at 5-7 before the first game, but I actually through 4 games saw a team more talented than I had thought). But Chico, DT and Mac need to have a come to Jesus meeting and figure things out and Coach riddle is maximally one bad special teams game away from getting fired. That said, looking just at the stats we should have won the game and have what it takes in place to win most of the games left on the schedule if we show up only halfway at QB. And Jimmerson is still special, the Defense actually had it's best effort of the year, got really only burned once.

Totally agree I was almost going crazy during that one. And whatever some of you want to say that clearly is not on DT, that is on the coaches. Now it is hard to tell for me whether the subs problem is on McCarney or Canales, but the called play I blame on Canales. To be fair though he had called a good game the week before.

I remember him saying we would open home next year too.....But I am not so sure this is in his hands, and I just cant immagine why the athletic department would not tell us if they had actually already secured a home opponent. Now as foorball schedules are usually made long before the games happen, this makes me somewhat unsure as to whether this will actually happen.

I have to say that the sun belt preforms admirably right now... but mid to long term it has another disadvantage, that really limits the ceiling. Wright waters goodbye gift was a tv contract that basically locked the sunbelt into getting some coverage but no money for football until like 2022 (did not look that up, might only be 2019). I believe that will haunt the belt for some time to come. And I think I remember darkly that our AD said something of the money difference between the conferences being 700 000$. Please don''t fry me if I got the numbers wrong. But that would be quite a bit at our level (It pretty much means you don't have to play one of those inopportune opportunity games).

sorry did not put in the quote meant the first poster... Well if you say that it is humanly thinkable, then no, not too much green coolaid.... if you imply that 10-2 is probable, then I fear it is. A 8-4 season would be a great success in my book. 6-6 I would already take and not bitch about it
