Technically we had a bye week last week.... so coach Mac appears prominently in this weeks "Bye week buddies" on EDSBS http://www.everydayshouldbesaturday.com/2012/10/18/3519394/bye-week-buddies-week-7

I also think 3-2 is very visible for the rest: MTSUs loss of Benny Cunningham is huge. Without that i would be think this is 50-50 on the road. But we have not yet had real bad luck on injuries this season (thinking of an DT/Chancellor/Orr injury makes me cringe). But Cunningham beat Georgia tech basically by hmself, and without him they are a very pedestrian team, that I think we ought to beat. USA has to be win. and A state at apogee also has a good chance of being a W. And if we really should botch one of these 3 I think we may be dogs, but dogs with a fair shot at ULM and W-Kentucky.

Sooo are we still against coach Mac's rush heavy offense?
outoftown replied to D-ry's topic in Mean Green Football
I think it depends.... I understand us running the ball a boatload early and when we are even or ahead late, and when the situation makes sense. That said, 3 runs up the middle 2 yards from our own endzone? The only reason we call that smart, is because it worked out this time. To me it was a gamble with the same risk as passing, and lower reward. But like I said, having a lot of running to generally keep the defense off the field is not generally a bad thing. -
I agree, Atterbury deserves at least a mention.... was very good punting and very important in this game
-
I voted for Delgado, who bailed us out on several and longs particularly that 3rd and 8 in the 4th.... but Jimmerson is verrrrry deserving too. Personally I thought Canales callled a good game, but not that outstanding that it deserves MVP.... ...after all the offense also totally failed to work during the first 2 quarters, and I am still not convinced it was a good idea to run it up the middle 3 times backed in within our 2 yard line

about 3 weeks ago I said that coach Riddle was in my mind 1 bad game away from getting fired. Now this sure was the best game by special teams we had this season. Looking at how bad it had been, this is quite a turnaround. We actually won the ST battle I think. They shanked a PAT and had a muffed Punt. Ok then they also had those punts super close to our goal line. But at least we did not give a big one up and made all our (adimittedly close) FGs, and had pretty darn good punts ourself. This improved performance was absolutely critical in this game. Congrats to the team

MTSU loses RB Benny Cunningham for the year
outoftown replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
That is a major break for our game against them. He was a total stud. Beat Georgia tech basicly by himself. He was to their offense what Dunbar was to ours last year. That game looks very winnable to me right now -
And now for some good news...Lance Dunbar

remember that OU game we lost during the Dodge era
outoftown replied to outoftown's topic in Mean Green Football
well they did in the first half... in the second half they are not terrible...only bad -
if after that 79-10 game you considered going over to the evil empire and becoming a burnt orange fan in order not to go down like that ever again.... ...If you are reading this: You made the right choice ...you sure have to be happy to still be a NT fan. At least if you are watching OU-UT right now. UT looks absolutely terrible, worse than we ever have under Coach Mac. UT fans leaving the stadium before halftime

Dr. Seuss is stirring the pot for a change. I would say that a lot of people watch ESPN 2 when it is the only game on TV on at the time. Particularly the kind of person who is a potential High school recruit.

I am not so down on this team. I think things are bound to come together: ULL 17 UNT 22
-
well that is the problem: most on this board did not predict a 5-7 season but at least a 6-6 or more often even a 7-5 Personally I think this team is on the right way. Mac and his staff seem to be really good at teaching the basics of the game to the players. Game call wise I am not so sure, but keep getting better at the basics and conservative game calling will be less meaningfull at some point. Right now we are really inconsistent: it just has not happened that both sides of the ball had a good game at the same time. It is bound to happen sometime. Also I feel a lot better about that ULL game than some here, certainly better than I would have 2 years ago. I do believe we have a realistic shot at keeping that win here.

Well I have to say it is frustrating when we do things like letting time expire with a minute and 3 timeouts left in half 1 when we are behind. Looking at what Berry did, it just has a different feel to it game call wise. We are not taking chances at al, which would be ok, if we were ahead and usually had the better team, but we are not there yet. Also we are predictable. And that is not just a question of the talent we do or don't have. on the positive side: we had decent games by the offense and decent games by the defense, both sides are improving particularly the defense -even though it is hard to believe after this game. We have yet to see a game when both sides of the ball have a good day. It is bound to happen some time. That said, a bowl game has just gotten a lot less probable

Wanna see the NT vs. UH game but can't make it to Houston?

Because if you look at FAU, that don't make you wish to be in a conference with them. Also let us look a few years what GA state does in the sun belt, before inviting them. And finally: I am just not a lover of 16 team conferences. 14is more than enough in my book. at 16 you pretty much never see the other division in football.

UNT 24 Houston 21 Olen wins it on a 35 yard FG as time expires. No don't say that was not specific enough -
And I thought they might put SMU on the waiting list this week I think we are safe for at least another week right now. on another note: ...and we thought the schedulde was kind to us when we missed out on playing FIU
