It feels almost as if we were leaving for C-USA after this sason
-
down 1 4 :38 left this might go down to the wire
-
tied and starting to see some foul trouble
-
crazy how NOTHING worked the first 10 minutes and EVERYTHING the second 10
-
crazy... a 4 point play and we are tied! just two different parts of this half
-
finally starting to get things going. less than 10 points down now several successful trips in a row.
-
Not starting good... at all 2-14 shooting score 11-27 for ULL Ull shooting lights out, NT can't shoot at all super frustrating to watch nothing works at all
-
America 12... ... and i thought everyone had understood from recent history, that putting a number into your conference name was not a particularly smart thing to do from a branding perspective... those numbers just don't seem to stay the same

If I were the belt I would offer NMSU a transitory membership in football only from say 2014 to 2019... not sure NMSU could refuse. It would at least give them time to look for a new home.

AP: Big East football keeps $100m in split
outoftown replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Still 100 mio for the football schools... that almost doubles their income. It is just that the new memebers won't be getting their hands on the lions share. But for Connecticut south florida and Cincy there is at least a bit of money to get over the divorces. I still think Tulane should reconsider leaving. I also am less and less sure that this noname conference really is more attractive to tulsa than the current C-USA is -
looking at other schools spring training it seems to me NT has a week less than most other schools. why is that? http://www.usatoday.com/story/gameon/2013/02/15/fbs-college-football-2013-spring-football-dates/1922431/

I guess this should be used as a reminder to people how closely some of the players read this board...so be carefull with what you write guys.

Guess I am alone responsible for switzerland being in the top 10 -
This... although it is close. But until we loose 3 members i don't consider C-USA as having an opening. 12 is enough

UNT Hall of Famer Fred McCain has died
outoftown replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
RIP Fred McCain -
Tennis and soccer are clearly the most consistent programs at NT right now. Those teams seem to threaten for the NCAAs every year and are bound to advance further in the tourney sometime in the next few years. Great job ladies

Postseason success would forgive disappointing season
outoftown replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Let me put it like this: my expectations at the beginning of the season were to win the regular season and challenge for a 11 or 12 seed, with a first round game going down to the buzzer. Now if NT wins the belt tourney they will be a play-in 16 and when they get to the (real) first round there will be no chance whatsoever Shit season was disappointing however it goes from here -
Mostly I was just wondering if someone could come up with a realistic scenario of how this could actually benefit us, cause i am kind of tired of looking at this whole realignment thing without hope of things getting better. Maybe if the big east looses say 4 members and only 4-6 geographically scattered programs remain C-USA can pick up someone worthwile.... but I admit it does not seem particularly probable
-
So they say North Carolina might move to the B1G http://www.landgrantholyland.com/2013/2/19/4005512/report-north-carolina-has-big-ten-offer-virginia Now if this actually happens(and that is a big IF -even if SBnation claims the guy knows what he talks about- but hey it is offseason and there is nothing better to discuss), might we come out of this unharmed? Could it spell the end of the big east and be to our benefit? Would it just mean C-USA will get more picked apart and loose much of its appeal?
-
NO! I have nothing against considering the hilltoppers if we loose a few members, but right now the conference has already put itself in a corner by adding too quickly once. I still think C-USA would be in a better position if old dominion and particularly Charlotte had not been added in a forseeably futile effort to hold ECU.

UNT paying pretty large guarantee for Idaho
outoftown replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
Of course they are, so would I. Being involuntarily independent this is a smart move designed to get you some attention and the money necessary to compensate the lack of a conference. Also: it gives you the money to pay lesser schools to come to your place (as we do with Idaho) which is the only way to get at least 5 home games every season for a team like Idaho. And as some people always mention on this board when it comes to bodybag games: players want these chances at the big schools, even if they are the heaviest of underdogs. -
UNT paying pretty large guarantee for Idaho

Personally I prefer the story that going into the first home game UNDEFEATED will be what sells. But in any way: we agree it's up to promotions -
UNT paying pretty large guarantee for Idaho
outoftown replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
I admit I was hoping we had paid more in the 300-350k range... but Idaho probably had a lot of people asking for them to drop by and could thus choose I am sure it was a sellers market. Having said that we do pay a premiuim because they are FBS which makes the thing more legit (even if some FCS teams are probably better than them). I am sure Idaho collects a lot of money this season for all those non-conference games they could sell as an independent. It makes it almost seem as if the surest way to finance your program is beeing really bad in FBS and selling your away games at a premium , while being just somewhat bad is financially troublesome
