$30.4 Million 2014 UNT Athletic Budget (Proposed)
outoftown replied to DeepGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Hmm can somebody explain to me the difference in football between 2011 budget (5.48 mio) to 2012 and now (12 mio). honest question. Is this money in the stadium or is this money in the coaches or in recruiting? -
It was nice to see you guys every once in a while, but not essential for my enjoyment of the show. So if the feed is audio only that is quite ok with me. Now if you get yourselves replaced by some knowledgeable beautiful young UNT coeds...

I second that... ok not the wife thing, don't got a wife, but those other things he said

Assuming this is indeed the case: I really do wonder if this is the right way to go for the coaching staff. I don't belive that teams at C-USA level can afford to expect that the players will adapt to the system primarily instead of the coaching staff at least partially adapting to the weaknesses and strenghts of their players with the highest potential. If you got the my-way-or-the-high-way attitude you better have a lot of players with the same high potential. I don't belive we do, particularly at the QB spot.

Who wants to go bowling to these locations?
outoftown replied to golfingomez's topic in Mean Green Football
well I get the unhappyness with too many bowls in general but if the system is what it is (with the power 5 trying to push the group of 5 out of bowls), then you better be in a conference that has enough bowl tie ins. You don't want to be the La Tech or MTSU of last year -
Who wants to go bowling to these locations?
outoftown replied to golfingomez's topic in Mean Green Football
wait... do i get that right? CUSA has 8 bowls now? wouff that is a loaaad and pretty much makes sure you go if you do make it to eligibility. You might be shipped of out of the country or to some other far away island, but you will go bowling if you win 6. -
New Orleans Bowl extends its deals with C-USA and the Sun Belt
outoftown replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
The AAC does look to be in some bowl trouble. That makes C-USA only more appealing- 6 replies

UNT with the 8th most experienced team in FBS
outoftown replied to outoftown's topic in Mean Green Football
It just really does mean that the future is now. Which means it is not gonna be easier for NT next year than this year unless some superstar QB emerges, which usually is the one position that can negate experience differences in other parts of the team. But a look at this just tells me that i really need to circle tha La tech and USM game as games we got to have this year, while it reminds me not to underestimate UTSA as much as some on this board seem to do. I still think we should beat UTSA, but they too will have made strides since last season, where if nothing else, they did manage to beat up on the FBS lowlights they got to play. -
thanx for the analysis

according to phil steele UNT brings back the 8th most experienced team in FBS this year. here the experience rankings of all of our opponents Idaho (120) Ohio (39) Ball State (77) Georgia (61) Tulane (47) MTSU (31) La Tech (126) Southern Miss (101) Rice (2) UTEP (104) UTSA (3) Tulsa (84) Interestingly we are also playing 2 teams with even more experience (Rice and by default, UTSA) but some other teams we play bring very little experience on top of new coaches, namely southern miss (101st), Idaho (120th), UTEP (104th) and La-tech which combines a new coach with the least experience among players in all the country. That ought to put them at some serious disadvantage. also interesting: the breakdown of the two deeps into class members p.s. common disclaimer: sorry if this has been discussed and I just did not see it.

I'd love to plus one this

Idaho Football Coach Paul Petrino QB - Chad Chalich Video
outoftown replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
are we confident playing each other? I expect a win in this game, but I will be relieved if we get it no matter how close, not gonna be clamoring for it to be 37 to 7 -
Do we? I hope it is the case, but color me skeptic until there are at least 3 people not on the team or on staff that have seen this with their own eyes

I hope you are right, but the last seasons don't make me all that optimistic about the short leash part. I too belive that there is good evidence that QBs can improve in their senior year (and again when they get to the NFL), but I agree that Canales still owes us the proof that he gets a QB to take a real step in his development. Our sample size may be very small, but that is part of the buisness he works in.

I am not for firing Mac but the fact that he gives us pretty much 0 independent information is something that I as a scientist find both heavily suspicious and frustrating. I was tought not to take people at their word (no matter who they are) without steady evidence. Someone saying trust me is not good enough in my world. Under these circumstances someone needs to keep an absolutely clean sheet with the truth and/or good outcomes. so If I read the following and it is about all the independent (since I don't know whithers940, I can't say whether it is really independent) information i got, it makes me very suspicious: If only a fraction of this is true then I got some serious Beef with Mac as a coach, because it means he always knew who it was going to be no matter what happened in practice. If this open competition thing was all coach speak then that is not ok. That is a problem. If results should not be good at the end of the season i will not be able to believe him if he says it will get better, because he has proven to BS the fans. This whole action has cost him some credit with fans he might be needing at the end of the season.

I had Cyrill Lemon last year, and I was not disappointed, thus adopting him this year again. One more of that sort of lemon please!

Hmm not sure. should I feel stupid now for having considered that there may have been something to the coach speak, when probably it was clear all along that DT would be the starter?
-
How much overhype and overinterpretation may I put into this picture? Is this ordered according to where th QBs are on the depth chart (from left to right?) (DW, AM, DT, BB, JG)

3 La Tech Players granted 6th year of eligibility
outoftown replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
3 guys. ouff. I guess they had good cases, most previews had accounted for these guys being there... but I sure hope that NT also gets that kind of a big break with the NCAA sometime -

Now don't get me wrong... while I may or may not agree on your political opinions I think it is cool you talk about them. ... but isn't there a specific forum for that kind of stuff on GMG?
