I have a couple of good friends that graduated from Marshall and one that played center for them and was an All-American Honorable Mention. He was a graduate assistant coach for Marshall when the tragedy occurred but was not on the flight because he had to take the teacher certification test the next day. He was in several scenes of the film. So I have for years had a little soft spot...although there's nothing I would like more than to beat them in the Championship game.

As a general habit, I tend to cheer for a team if we also play that team. Of course if both teams are on our schedule I have other equally goofy reasons to pick the team to support .

Good news indeed...it's the first time I have been made aware of that association. In other news: I had a math teacher in high school who was from Germany. When "The Star Spangled Banner" was played he would say in a loud and stearn voice, "Rice," even if everyone was already standing. Maybe our coaching staff and players will not overlook next week's opponent. I hope.
