Forming a Texas Conference in my humble opinion, could be wildly successful. It is such a good idea that it probably will never take a sip of reality.

According to Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports, the AAC is attempting to take all eight remaining members of the Big 12. On the surface, I have held a positive view of these developments but, in the small sampling that I've observed it seems to me there is generally an almost negative view of all this. Dr. Smatresk is a very effective and creative leader. If he continues sharing his vision and is successful in bringing the other presidents on board, our conference will be completely renovated in every way in a very short period of time. I'm excited about his tenure and have high expectations.

When I was a classroom teacher, Hines was my student for 3 years. I bragged to him about knowing Joe Greene in college and hoped someday that he would play for the Steelers. My wife who also taught him was influential in his choosing UGA. Hines has long wanted to coach at the college level. He will pour his heart and soul in this.
