  1. I’m not saying I disagree but guys have to get experience to learn. Tylor and Hamlet both just almost felt immediately automatic. Sometimes it takes some L’s to get it straight. He’s a brave player and we need that kind of leadership. I will say though. Aaron Scott seems to be to be just the most experienced and solid shot maker other than Rubin that we have and I’d love to see him get more opportunities it’s just that Edwards is a ball handler and so quick so it’s just gonna make more sense for it to be him to be the leader that we have gotten used to in the type of guys we’ve had. And I know that he can handle it. This is just a tough league and we can do better but we have solid guys and need to get healthier and we need to mature a little.
  2. That sucks. I hope it doesn’t kill the fanbase like these things usually do. Dig deep and have grit! We are still a great, tough team! Man, UAB is a tough opponent. Big time respect. The second half change in officiating was frustrating but we made enough mistakes to just accept that we lost. We went cold and we also got softer on defense which i know we can blame on refs but you can play legal defense well. I’m pissed but we are still good, don’t let it stop this momentum!
  3. It’s been that way forever. I don’t understand that bullshit. I’m donating like 8 floor mops TOMORROW!.
  4. We need Zach Simmons right now
  5. I do think I heard a sniff right as they were coming back out of break
  6. Hahaha I can’t disagree with that take at all.
  7. On the Crean thing, I’ve actually loved his commentary. He’s been pretty fair and yea he sounds more like he’s coaching than broadcasting but it’s kind of nice. Really good observer and he (for the most part) clearly knows a lot about our guys and their tendencies which is a compliment. Fun fact I’m sure plenty already know but he’s married to the Harbaugh brothers’ sister.
  8. I’ve noticed in the American that they really allow plenty of pressure physicality early and tighten up late.
  9. Wow this is a crazy thread. Todd will be inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. He accomplished a lot. Don’t act like he wasn’t starting out in places like Cameron TX. Incredible HS coach. NT just didn’t work out but man, let it go. If you wanna know what kinda mettle he has just look at the way Riley played so hard for us. They aren’t just pretty boys. They do the work and they’ve earned respect.
  10. I heard them say that, but don’t you feel like we miss too many?
  11. I haven’t looked at the stats relative to other schools over the course of the last six or seven years, but missing free throws has been such a shocking frustration for an otherwise comepletely discipline team. My expectations from the strip always seem too high I guess but we would really do well to build a better culture around FTs. I do know we’ve been solid at times but we can be better.
  12. THATS WHY THEY CALL IT THE SUPER PIT! More of that. Hope our fans keep showing out (even through the adversity of losses). This is a good basketball league and we will face some losses Im sure. These dudes still deserve that kinda crowd every night. So tough! Let’s be tough for em too! Proud to be an Eagle!
  13. I don’t disagree with you at all bc I think those guys all make each other better but Sissoko really does have to improve if we are going to accomplish whatever it is we want to accomplish this year. Which to me is at minimum a tournament bid. That may not be fair with Ross in a new role and replacing key players, but I think we are at the point where it’s ok as a fanbase to begin to expect that. If Ross and these dudes with another NIT I know that’s still logically beyond acceptable given how hard it is to get into the tournament or win enough straight games for an NIT. I guess the point to me though is that as a program, we are so healthy and consistent. We may not have every piece that makes us feel like we are going to get as far as we want to this yr but we just keep this culture and style and we will absolutely be ok. These are fun times and I hope we all get to enjoy them bc it just feels so damn good to be proud of how these Eagles fight. I trust them to do what they need to but for the first time in my 20 years of Eagledom, I finally have sensed a culture that reflects me and my values and the values of the school they represent. My pops played football at Houston in the 70s and they were just like us, middle class, looked down upon…but their attitude was F you, we are gonna shock the world. And they did. If we embrace our GRIT (which we do really have despite all the inclusionism culture on campus which in and of itself is a good thing, just another conversation) but seriously, if we embraced our culture of a bunch of middle class kids who stand on the shoulders of our poorer ancestors who got us here and we are here to earn this mf’n opportunity, THAT is our super power. Our super power is F YOU! We will outwork your ass! And I honestly trust our current staff(s) to do that.
  14. Exactly. For nearly 8 years now these fellas have shown us that they’re mentally tough enough to deal. We aren’t as fragile as we’ve been conditioned to feel over the decades. These dudes can handle. Tonight sucked and I honestly had the same initial fear when I saw the graphic of the next slate of games we have. But the culture of this program truly does have fortitude and until they prove otherwise they’ve got the benefit of the doubt. Hope we get our 2 guys back to play probably the most winnable sports game we’ve felt we’ve had against SMU in quite awhile (which to be honest is I think at least one of the largest reasons around any commenters’ stress)…and I hope we do. But these dudes in this program have never done anything other than just come back and back and back and back. It’s not an easy league. Shit happens. Get back to work and go kill it. We will be ok I bet.
  15. They’ve proven themselves over the past two seasons to be a solid team but I think they’ve been a little overhyped and opportunistic. They have several skins on the wall and I’m not saying they’re not a great team. I just don’t think that they and us are all that far apart if we have an opportunity. So glad to be in the AAC now where what happened past year doesn’t feel quite as dire. No guarantees and this year’s squad is still proving themselves but I like our guys even against the Owls.
  16. Since when has Brett's work been syndicated to include the Killeen Daily Herald? As a Bell County boy I love to see it!
  17. I hope the Huskies win if only for a dying breath of the PAC 12 (whom I never much cared for but they’re important to the older days). Tonight is a bit of a CFB funeral and it’s sad.
  18. We lived in the Shops at Legacy right after we got married in 2011-13 and when it was FCS weekend the entire place was absolutely flooded with fans. Usually NDSU people and they know how to party. I’m happy for the Jackrabbits bc the Bison dynasty got old after awhile. Love me some Grizz too.
  19. I agree with your point but we were 9-4 in 2013. Close (and avoidable) losses to Ohio and Tulane that year kept us from a 10 or 11 win season. Should’ve beat UTSA too so that could’ve easily been a 12 win season with the only loss to Georgia who we actually hung with until late.
  20. Crazy what an upgrade in TV exposure we have this year. ESPN2 tonight. So glad to not be stuck on ESPN+ for every game.
  21. Completely agree. And I'm not one to defend Kason as his bouncing around on the sideline antics and eyeblack facepaint annoyed me quite a bit and so many on here were clamoring for his opportunity after a small sample size in a blowout bowl game loss. That said, it was clear he was a great kid with enough talent to start somewhere and he was also a great teammate and loved NT. His case is way different than these kids who are bouncing around to 3+ schools.
  22. In what way was he bitter?
  23. Seth is a helluva coach. Some of y’all are still salty and it’s gross. Under achieved here in the long run, sure. But he was always pure class and absolutely elevated the program. We eventually plateaued and needed a change, but I’m grateful for what he did here. Multiple things can be true at one time and I wish our fanbase had enough class to make him feel appreciated.
  24. Btw we must remind ourselves that the teams playing in these bowl games aren’t the same teams that played the regular season, thanks to the portal. That includes my comment above too. Bowl picks have gotten a lot harder. Recently it used to be more about whose coach got fired but now it’s who still has their roster. Crazy lineups and all that. Still love it but gee dang!
  25. It’s crazy to think we should’ve beat Memphis and yet they’re 9-3 working on fending off a Big 12 team for a 10th win. We are so close if the defense can just improve even a little bit- there’s plenty of room to grow. Of course, next year’s team will look a lot different but the offensive scheme clearly works. The FIU, Navy and Memphis games all sting still. This team was very capable of 8 wins. Had chances against UTSA and Tulane as well so I’m not going to loop those in but those were both one score losses so you could argue the point that they had 10 legitimate win opportunities. Super frustrating season but I believe the future is bright.
