Respectfully, screw that! We are North Texas! This is a gigantic state and the North Texas region is very large, very rich in talent and history. We’ve struggled with winning which is why we have all these kinds of arguments, but I’m very proud to be a North Texas grad and that’s coming from a Central Texas boy. The “directional” label never felt as much as it applies here since 1. It’s not two directions like “Southwest” etc and 2. Because of the respect the region garnishes across the state and beyond. Not having grown up in the Metroplex and no longer living there now, I don’t view it as a negative at all and no one in Centex ever seems to scoff at it either. EDIT: I’d also add that SWT hasn’t done a damn thing as Texas State other than cheesy up their graphics and branding. Respect their baseball, but they’re still floundering despite their new makeup.

East Carolina is going to be tough next year
tmjerm replied to Tom McKrackin's topic in Mean Green Football
They play a bit dirty sometimes but they fly around like crazy and have good athletes. Being a UH guy, I’ve seen em plenty and they always have the capability of beating anyone at anytime but they can also lose to anyone at anytime. I can’t wait to pass them up cause we can totally do that. Nothing against them, just seems like we can pee on that fire hydrant if we can get our S together and Eric has me believin. -
Mazin Richards - Thank you for representing UNT with class!!
tmjerm replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
“P5 talent” is great and everything but when you have a REAL talent who has gratitude to be here, plays his butt off, and actually ACTS on his gratitude by treating people like this, you know you have a winner. Love that guy and if we had a team full of Mazin type guys we’ll be winning 10+ games all the time. -
That’s the kind of individual ownership we need! Good job! I’m in.

Transfer TE expected to visit Hogs
tmjerm replied to meangreenfaninno's topic in Mean Green Football
It’s hard to imagine Eric encouraged him to leave despite the scheme. He’s a great asset. Either way, I hope he doesn’t wind up at Arkansas. He’d get to live the SEC life, sure. But they’re not gonna do anything great there and I want him to go somewhere to win. -
How about a “not returning” coach garage sale

Haha what a buzzard! -
Great locker room guy, has probably matured past the dramatic eye black and goofy nUTSAck style sideline jump arounds. Wish him all the best truly. Some weirdly obsessed on this board gave him way too much credit for a blow out loss bowl game he made a few throws in and that’s not his fault.

Gagree. I’d also love to see our fanbase show up with a great crowd to the Spring game to show support for all of this. Tailgates and party times.

BREAKING NEWS: North Texas Hires Chris Gilbert
tmjerm replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
Being a SOC guy I wonder if he may bring Keith Smith back into the fold @TheReal_jayD? Realize he’s on the other side of the ball but if defensive scheme lines up assuming that’s already in the works..- 86 replies

Shouldn’t we hire at least a couple of old coaches?
tmjerm replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Look for that on defense would be my guess. And maybe OL. Patrick being the old guy on the staff for now is hilarious and also sobering since I’m pretty much his age. -
Some Positive Thoughts as NSD Approaches
tmjerm replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
Couldn’t be looking forward to 9/2/23 more. Gonna be a great day and a packed house. We had a great chance to win that game in Berkeley, Rico got hurt and sadly lost all his momentum and who knows what that win could’ve done for Seth and that team the rest of that year but fate has us here now and it’s time to beat the Golden Bears in Denton. -

Dude! How has this been such an ongoing issue? For all the discipline and toughness and great defense, you’d think making your free throws goes hand in hand with the style. So weird. Love Grant and his guys anyway, but dang!

Apologies. Was posting same time that was being posted. Not sure which coach you’re referencing, but sure sometimes it doesn’t work out of course.
-
Haha dayum you’re flying off the top ropes! The charges were dropped for one thing. Plus that’s one in a zillion type crazy situation. Plus Eric is doing the vetting now so we will see if that’s any different (not that I blame Seth a ton for stepping into that situation).
-
Right. Nervous posters can set their Dodge trauma to the side for position coaches, it’s not the same thing. Major recruiting advantage with their networks plus, high energy guys who are very connected to how these young guys are wired.

UNT’s hard work over the past years is paying off
tmjerm replied to Dannymacfan's topic in Mean Green Football
We’ve needed this kind of guy so bad for awhile. It’ll help with acknowledging traditions and broaden our richness and uniqueness. We haven’t had a coach celebrate those kinds of things in a long long time. And neither Dan nor Seth really pushed the SMU rivalry very hard so for Eric to rip it wide open like that is so great. I don’t want him to run his mouth too much, but treating it the way the actual fans do too is so refreshing. I look for Eric to celebrate what makes us “us” so much more than we’ve seen in the past. -
I really do believe we are in such great shape. TBH it’s hard to see 6+ wins on the schedule next year knowing the little we know so far, but 1. I do expect to be pleasantly surprised and 2. A longer term view shows amazing talent and potential with the folks involved at MGV right now. Super proud to be an Eagle right now.
