Unt ring
mattmartin817 replied to mattmartin817's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I'm pretty sure you can. You just have to make sure and find out the due date for orders. Should have info on the Jostens website. -
Unt ring

It is quintessentially NT indeed. I love mine as well and I wear It every day, I ordered with the stone and they didn't put it on there, and now im thinking about getting the stone put on. -
FOR IT!

Do you have a class ring? Did you put the green stone in the star on yours? Is this the more traditional unt ring or is it more traditional without the stone?

I like it. Lone star will be my go to for the second half. Luckily my disapproving girlfriend will be out of the house. -
Just curious about what you folks are going to be imbibing for the game tonight. I'm rocking out the magic hat Oktoberfest, and a few Abita ambers. May have to get more at halftime to drown my sorrows. Go mean green.

Did that one guy make fun of Texans for "hating mexicans"? A person from Alabama said that? Because if there is any state that has an amazing record of tolerance it's Alabama right? That being said, here's to a goodish game on saturday where we see some improvements and no injuries. GMG.

Maybe we should hold those emails off for another season or two. I would rather not see newy or whoever is doing the coverage make some smug remark about how we lost... Again. In two years when we are better and they aren't reporting on us, well, then we go to the station and throw bricks through their windows.

Love the bird feed thing!

One game and we are already looking to next season? If you thought that we were going to come out and set the world on fire, you don't know college football... At all. Did I want us to come out and punch fiu in the mouth, hell to the yayuh, did I think we could, maybe, am I surprised we didn't, not so much, did I just ask myself to many questions, probably. We just need to cool out. It was our first game with a new coaching staff and a young team. We had some first game jitters that buried us early. We are going to be fine, this season will be rough, but not as bad as the last 4 or 5. These guys will get better as the season goes along, but we have to have reasonable expectations which is maybe a 5 win season, but playing schools close. Schools with new coaches will struggle, it happens, just watch how much a big time program like Texas will probably struggle with a new oc and dc, it happens. I know that game was terrible, and it WAS depressing, make no mistake about it, but it's a little early to be writing the season, this team, and McCarney off. We have a lot to be excited about with this new era in mean green football, McCarney will make this program a contender again, it might just take a season or two. So keep the faith, besides, things can only go up from this point. Also Chanellor is a total beast.

I've had no luck finding anything. I will cast a larger net this week and try to call more bars to see if I can't find one that can show next weeks game. Will update if I find something.

I talked to someone at legends today, they said they were still trying to work on it with the cable company. Not sure if that means that their internet provider can connect to espn3 or what. At any rate the guy said that he would let me know sometime tomorrow morning. I told him I have an alumni group that wants to meet and watch the game, Didn't tell him that group may only consist of one or two of us haha! If there's no place that can televise the FIU and Houston game would anyone want to meet for the Bama game? it's on FSN so it would be a lot easier to find a place showing the game.
-
awesome! i literally live next door to that place! I'll go ask them tomorrow. I have another place in mind I'm going to ask, I'll post what I find out.
-
Sounds like a lot of work! Haha! I'll see what I can do though.
-
Any Alums living in Austin know of any bars that might be hooking up espn3 to a projector to show the game on Thursday? Would be great to watch the game with a few friendly faces and have some coldies while we watch our mean green beat up on fiu.

Yyz, I basically agree with everything you are saying. Especially about not knowing how this turned from a perry for prez thread to a new deal debate. I will say however that I think the new deal played a fairly significant role in getting us out of the depression.. Did it do as much as what took place during the war time effort, not at all. But it did put a lot of people back to work, which is not exactly bad for the economy, and more people working means more people spending paying taxes etc etc. And those thousands of temporary jobs helped create one of the things that made America great, it's infrastructure, which is of course crumbling now. Without doing these major projects and the government spending a little money to make a little money, the depression would have been much more catastrophic. Although these jobs are temporary they help put money back into the economy, which can help put the economy back on a somewhat even keel, which then means investors become more confidnet which usually translates into companies having money then those companies create more long term jobs. I think the new deal was a bit more important to getting this country back on it's feet than you are giving it credit for. Was it the cure for the economy, not at all, but it was, as uncle Joe Biden said, "a big effing deal". Back to perry related business. I think he is going to talk his way out of the race in a few weeks. He needs to stop playing up this idea that he's some rancer/cowboy from west Texas which is pretty much all he's got and people for some reason buy in to it.. Ranchers from west Texas don't have subscriptions to food and wine magazine.

It will be fun. The Prez has a bit of a gift for speaking as well. I've never been to impressed with Perry in debate type situations. He looked like a little kid when debating KBH and Kathy Glass this last election cycle. But I certainly wouldn't count him out either. I just think he may have some issues getting a whole lot of strong republican support. A lot of republican's simply don't like the guy, but they like Obama even less, so who knows maybe they will just stay home on election day.

he's not even building one he's just renting a 10,000 dollar a month mansion on lake travis at the tax payers expense. Doesn't exactly look great when he keeps calling himself a "full throated fiscal conservative" and when the state has a pretty hefty budget shortfall requiring the state to cut certain entitlement programs (some of which needed to be cut) and cutting a ridiculous amount of money out of the education budget etc etc. And the Mansion didn't completely burn down, it had some fire damage, I think it's either been repaired or should have been for a while now.

That's what we need. A C/D student with an elementary level understanding of the economy, whose response to the debt is to just sell everything (i.e bridges, parks, roads etc) to corporations and have them run things like that. This guy is a joke, Obama will make him look terrible in a debate, should make for excellent TV.
