Thursday afternoon football recruiting notes
unt_rocket09 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Speaking of recruiting...I'm still wondering why UNT isn't hopping on our QB where I coach. UNM was here a few weeks ago and today the hated SMU came by and I had to help him with video. It was hard but hey what can I do lol. -
caravan stuff from tonight...i was drinking so it's not complete

I have never been to one of these, do they have a cash bar or what? -
I am right next door to Paris High, and I can tell you Sed Ellis is a dang beast. It would be nice to get a pipeline going from Paris high, they are loaded! I still havent figured out why UNT hasnt contacted our QB here at Honey Grove. UNM was here last week and is very interested in him.

The whining on this site amuses me.

Mumford is still a PUBLIC school. I know players move around. If you think AAA doesn't have an unfair advantage then you just don't get it. They have a different curriculum than a public school, different rules, etc. I'm not saying kids don'tove for athletic reasons in public schools. I know this happens. But it is apples and oranges.
-
The point is these charters do not have the same regulations as regular public schools. The kids do not have the same curriculum to follow. It is an unfair advantage. Do some research on this. I know kids move for athletic purposes in all schools, but they it is not the same. These charters do not follow the same rules. You honestly do not know what you are talking about. Ask any administrator.
-
You really think AAA doesn't have an advantage huh? Go look at their curriculum on the school website. I'm telling you the school was created only for basketball. Also they can turn away any kid they please at AAA. Mumford, Roxton, hell Honey Grove (where I coach) have to take who lives in their zones. It's not the same buddy.
-
It's not a rule they will play in 3a it will be the new rule you have to compete in the smallest classification in your attendance zone. Dallas ISD has 3a schools so triple a will become 3a. Red oak life 4a etc. say what you want but it is not fair. Those kids don't have the same class rigor or schedule as other public schools. If you believe that school was set up for academic reasons then hey I have some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you.
-
And it's not just basketball. It is football and track as well. At our regional track meet we will run into a slew of charter schools with an unfair advantage.
-
AAA was booed bc they created a school solely for basketball. They can recruit from all of Dallas ISD and compete at the 1a level. I don't know if you know this, but 1a schools have less than 200 kids in their school, and that is the largest amount. AAA will come back to earth when they play in 3a, but still have no business in the UIL. Charters in the UIL is a joke! Congrats to the AAU team from AAA, everyone in Texas knows you are good, but it's not fair for the legitimate 1a schools from Mumford, Stamford and such. Those are true small town, 1a schools.

Had to be conservative bc our QB couldnt be trusted. You HAVE to have an explosive QB at the college level now. Defenses are too fast and have too many blitzes to kill an immobile QB.

Wow what a great gig. Hey UNT, I'm a HS football coach and ill do this for WAY less ha. -
I ended up going with the Best Western Plus right there on 380 and 35. Taking 5 kids from the sticks to the big city (Denton is huge to them). They are pumped.
-
Trying to keep it around $130 or so And thanks a lot guys. I appreciate the help. Can't wait to give the kids a tour of campus. They don't get out much lol.
-
I know this isn't football related, but I'm taking a group of powerlifters to Ponder and was wondering the best place to stay in Denton? I always stay in crap holes when I come in for football games, but would like for the guys to stay somewhere decent.

Last year was awesome! I will def be there again.

unt_rocket09 replied to KRAM1's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Would love to do this, but it's the same weekend as the state powerlifting meet. If we don't have a kid qualify ill be in. Is March 9th too late notice? -
Hopefully Benford doesn't get to run a practice here
-
Could not agree more. Just posted on Facebook about this

I forgot everyone on this board is completely logical...

I just think its funny that y'all really believe a certain formation is going to change much in regards to Ws and Ls. East Bernard won a state title running the slot t, but also would have won running the spread. What is key is getting the jimmies and joes in here.
-
Just like the wildcat.
-
Just another gimmick. The only thing good about the pistol is the D can't key on the back and get a tendency.
