  1. kinda hard to do working in unc when you are trying to make new connections there. High school football coaches move around a lot . Believe me I know. I would imagine a few more threads to answer your question or until Meacham is hired.
  2. Our biggest problem is recruiting and we all know it. Meacham has the tie ins with HS already. Before TCU he was at Oklahoma State and UH. He knows the DFW area. No need to wait to build those relations. Say TCU to the kids at my fort worth school and their eyes light up. Say UNC half don't know and they other half say basketball school. Both can coach, but Meacham has the recruiting edge. Littrell hasn't been in the area in years. DFW is hard to recruit and we need every advantage. Meacham knows what it takes. BTW HAVE YOU SEEN TCU OFFENSE?
  3. Meacham already has those connections! Why would you want to wait? Meacham was at Oklahoma State and UH before TCU. Littrell hasn't been in the area in years. Meacham is a NAME kids around here know! Just mention TCU and kids at the school I work at eyes light up. Mention UNC and they either say "who" or" Basketball". A name matters and Meacham has it.
  4. The recruiting advantage clearly makes him the better option.
  5. Our biggest problem is recruiting the DFW area and Meacham has been doing that for far longer.
  6. What is the probability he announces tomorrow. He is suppose to have an "interview" tomorrow? Does this really mean he wants to coach on campus when he makes the announcement?
  7. Dodge didn't have nearly the resume Meacham has, but I understand what you are saying. I think Cosh is our biggest problem on defense.
  8. Reaching back? That shows how long his has been doing it. Usual the longer you recruit an area that better you are at getting kids to come to your school. Rick, I missed read your last post. He is an OC he doesn't do defense. We had DAN who was suppose to be "great" at that...... you saw how well that turned out. I believe he would hire a DC. Just a guess. We are looking for a offensive minded coach. WE AVERAGED 15 POINTS A GAME. You are welcome.
  9. Worth the read http://www.underdogdynasty.com/2015/11/28/9808748/why-doug-meacham-should-be-the-next-north-texas-head-coach "In terms of scoring, the Mean Green offense is ranked fifth to last with an average of 15 points a game. Improving should not be too difficult of a task after the way this season has turned out. At the risk of sounding too optimistic, every offense that Meacham has worked with improved almost immediately after he joined the staff."
  10. meaCham also did recruit at JSU and just"showed up, but look what happened....Upon joining the staff at Jacksonville State in 1997, the Gamecocks went 7-4 and recorded the biggest turnaround in Division I-AA. During his tenure at Jacksonville State, Meacham's offensive unit broke 21 school passing and receiving records. Must not be Meacham. From his bio posted above with the link..... Upon joining the staff at Jacksonville State in 1997, the Gamecocks went 7-4 and recorded the biggest turnaround in Division I-AA. During his tenure at Jacksonville State, Meacham's offensive unit broke 21 school passing and receiving records. Meacham also spent three years as the offensive coordinator at Georgia Military College. He first joined the GMC staff in 1991 and served as offensive line and tight ends coach. In 1994, he was promoted to offensive coordinator and helped guide the school to an impressive 35-8 record during his tenure.
  11. Oh do you explain all of his success?! yeah can't be him.. he only had success at UH, OSU and Samford. Don't forget, he calls the plays. He put his player and teams in a position to win. We averaged something like 15 points a game this season Meacham has been recruiting dfw as long at littrell has been coaching. "Meacham also spent three years as the offensive coordinator at Georgia Military College. He first joined the GMC staff in 1991 and served as offensive line and tight ends coach. 12. Meacham may seem "older" at 51, but his offense isn't. And he has been recruiting dfw since he was at UH in 2005.
  13. Just out of curiosity, how old was dan when he took over?
  14. Doug Meacham joined the TCU football staff as offensive coordinator in December 2013. In his first season at TCU, Meacham helped the Horned Frogs become the nation's most improved offense in total yards (+188.2 ypg) and scoring (+21.4 ppg). TCU's 21.4 points per game improvement broke the Big 12 record of 19.1 set by Oklahoma in 1999 (35.8; 16.7, 1998) and was the largest improvement by any team since Northwestern went up 24.0 points between 1999-00. The 2014 Horned Frogs ranked second in the nation in scoring (46.5 ppg) and tied for fifth in total offense (533.0 ypg). TCU set 26 school records for offense in winning its first Big 12 championship as well as the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. Meacham was a 2014 finalist for the Broyles Award, recognizing the nation's top assistant coach. Meacham came to the Horned Frogs after serving as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Houston in the 2013 season. TCU marks the sixth school that Meacham has been an offensive coordinator. In addition to his role at Houston, Meacham coordinated offenses at Samford (2002-04), Henderson State (1999-00), Jacksonville State (1997-99) and Georgia Military (1994-96). http://www.gofrogs.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/doug_meacham_879468.html
  15. Wrong.... meacham started coaching in 1991, littrell in 2004. Littrell hasn't recruited dfw since 2008. Tcu offense better than unc. Just look at stats. Meacham has helped with 2 great offenses at 2 big 12 schools. Every he has been the offense has been great!.... In his first season at TCU, Meacham helped the Horned Frogs become the nation's most improved offense in total yards (+188.2 ypg) and scoring (+21.4 ppg). TCU's 21.4 points per game improvement broke the Big 12 record of 19.1 set by Oklahoma in 1999 Meacham was a 2014 finalist for the Broyles Award, recognizing the nation's top assistant coach. Meacham's last six seasons in Stillwater. Oklahoma State was in the top five in the country in total offense in the 2010-12 campaigns, when it scored more than 50 points 15 times, broke the 60-point mark in seven contests, 70 points twice and the 80-point plateau once. Meacham was instrumental in establishing a record-setting offense at Samford. He directed an attack in 2004 that set several school records, including passing yards (2,986), pass completions (256) and completion percentage (59.8). Prior to Samford, Meacham worked the same kind of magic at Henderson State, where he was offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. During the 2000 season, Meacham coached an offense that broke two Division II national passing and receiving records, four Gulf South Conference marks and nine scho
  16. For the love of God..... Make it Meacham!
  17. Sorry I can't get excited about littrell. Meacham has everything on his resume that littrell plus more.
  18. Doesn't matter, RV and the 17 are having a blast!!!!
  19. Pathetic! This I part of the culture that has been created at UNT.
  20. Meacham would be a home run hire. Between the 2 finalist I think it is a no brainer ( Assuming Meacham wants it). Meacham knows dfw. Oklahoma state tcu and UH all obviously recruit heavly from the dfw and suurrounding areas and I believe he went to HS in Arlington. This guy has plenty of hs tie ins. Great offense, great resume, great name. What more do you want?
  21. Applewhite or Meacham. I wouldn't mind cumbie. All three all have better offenses then Dan. THIS IS A BIG HIRE.
  22. I like briles, but he isn't my top pick. I would rather have Applewhite, meacham, and cumbie in that order.
  23. Noticed from the Idaho came, as soon as a player made mistake they were benched. I know this happened in the early Benford years. Apparently it is still happening.
  24. Applewhite i believe is the best overall option. Young(er), a known name, good resume, great offensive scheme.
  25. Going to my first game in years. Here is to a Mean Green Win!
