I have a hard time believing smu would fight tooth and nail to keep us out. We were a finalist years ago when UTEP got in over us, and this was because of crappy fouts. Secondly, they already have a series with us (that they agreed to). If smu didn't want to be associated with us they wouldn't play us at all. I understand playing a series is different then being in the same conference, but I have a hard time believing they would fight to keep us out.

Interesting, considering how much you read about it on this board. I am glad Trip is aware of the situation. To me the scheduling is a top 5 problem in UNT football.

I may have missed it, but did anyone mention scheduling and how horrible it has been? I may have missed it, but did anyone mention scheduling and how horrible it has been? I may have missed it, but did anyone mention scheduling and how horrible it has been?

Hank Dickenson officially speaks with Eastman & Beaudine Inc.
mgfan replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
As much hope as I see in the future of the UNT, this is the reason I have not renewed my tickets. We need a fresh new young(er) person in that spot.- 10 replies

Name recognition a lone is enough. Don't act Arkansas State wouldn't jump at the chance to leave the suck belt.

Because they know cusa is a better conference. If they wanted any Sunbelt teams to join they would have asked a long time ago.

MGB: UNT future football schedules update
mgfan replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
This ^, I think we are in a position to win and should win. These games do not entice me to renew my season tickets. I don't want to pay and waste a staurday for HBU. -
The sunbelt never brought fans. EVER. They don't travel. You want teams just because they are close? You keep hoping for the sunbelt (where we were), I'll hope for something a little better. We have to agree to disagree.
-
You think it is hard to get people to games against LATECH? No one comes to games against ULL. I fail to see why we need to merge with the sunbelt. It offers no benefit besides being "regional" with teams no one cares about. Yes, the AAC already has this market, when we start winning they can saturate this market. I will never want to be with the sunbelt teams.....That regional concept worked out well for the WAC with a bunch of no names. WE MUST IMPROVE OUR BRAND, and the merging with the sunbelt is a move backward. Look up not down. AAC (cusa) already considered us before they took UTEP because of facilities. We start winning and filling our stadium people will notice. Look at tcu, boise, byu etc.
-
The solution isn't lowering the cost by moving to regional teams in the sunbelt. The solution is moving up in a conference. I.e. the AAC
-
What is the benefit of regional teams? Maybe some of you forgot orweren't around for the sunbelt. Nobody and I mean Nobody cares about those the teams. Most people have no idea who they are. Adding more teams and becoming more "regional" would cut into the tv revenue even more. Sorry ESPN, who is losing subscribers, isn't waiting on pins and needles to sign teams like TX state and S. Alabama, or any other sun belt team. If we're are going to become more regional, then look at getting in a conference with smu, tulsa..... Not TX State. These regional conferences aren't a given, something that has to happen, or should happen.

MGB: UNT future football schedules update
mgfan replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
This is exactly right. This are the same people that actually think join with the Sun belt is a good idea because they are "regional". -
Give me neither. Why the hell would we want to be with more Sun Belts teams? Does this board or UNT fans in genreal have any aspirations? I know it is the off season, but good God.... South Alabama?!
-
AAC makes the most sense. That is where we need to be shooting for, and stop using SMU as an excuse. Win and win continuously.
-
No, no, no. We need to move up. Not side ways or down. Join with the sunbelt should never be an option. Let's set our goals high and go for them. If you fail then go down, but we have a new coach and will have a new AD. There is no need to look in the rear view mirror, just forward.

Southern Miss writer suggests blowing up C-USA
mgfan replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
We will have to do everything we can to get into the MWC. -
Southern Miss writer suggests blowing up C-USA
mgfan replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
What unt needs to do is stay proactive. We need to make a package deal to get into the MWC with Texas-San Antonio, Rice, and UTEP ( maybe not utsa, but they do bring potential tv market). Of course the AAC would be ideal, but don't see that happening. Point is UNT needs to be ready for the next realignment. -
I'm waiting on the AD. I've heard promises before. Need proof. When new AD is hired I will decide then. I've said this before and it remains the sad truth, there is no demand for my seats and they aren't going anywhere. I'll wait. Still trying to get over last season when I literally couldn't give away my seats and parking pass. For those that have renwed, right on, you have more resolve than I.
