I agree. It happens a lot. Look at the OKC Thunder in the playoffs after the Westbrook injury. They were a team that was a lock for the finals that suddenly lost it's balls and it's confidence. They were walking around like sad puppy dogs. Just like us after the Walton injury (kidding). When you lose to a D2 team in the 2nd game, I can see how that would set the tone for the rest of the season.

I talked to Fran earlier this season too. He wanted to be here. He's not stupid, he knew what the pay scale was going to be, so that's not an excuse. He already lives in the area and had a connection to the team, but RV got suckered into hiring Benford.

It doesn't help that our group of wealthy donors fully support Benford and RV. Until they change their minds, in the words of TTG, we're F'd.

When Mac came in and switched from Under Armour to Nike, that meant all the Under Armour stuff must go. And they have so many shoes because they have cleats for all different kinds of field conditions and the equipment managers need to be prepared for a lot of variables that could change quickly within the course of a season or a game. New players, field conditions, position changes, injuries, etc.

Just based on my observations, I think there is at least a portion of the RV entourage that didn't like the way JJ handled disciplinary actions, and they put the blame squarely on him for the Chris and Jordan failed class situation last season. I think they believe that somebody like Benford was needed to "whip these trouble-making city boys into shape." This may be only part of it, but I do think there is some underlying anti-JJ sentiment within that group for whatever reason. I will just throw it out there that the 3 million raised for the basketball program came in quickly after JJ was gone and without asking us ma and pa kettle fans for help. We needed a practice gym and improvements to the Pit long before Benford came in.

This, and the few big $$$ donors we have are permanently attached to the behinds of RV and Benford.

I hope they repaint the floor at the Pit to match the practice gym. Clean, simple and SOW at center court. Just add the CUSA logos on the free throw lines (facing center court, not upside down like the belt logos) and it will be perfect.

Don't forget Mac's unwavering loyalty to DT during tough times last season. I would not be surprised at all if DT is the starter.

Sadly, this is the attitude of everybody involved with the program that has power, money or both. If you're having "fun" watching losing teams, then why change anything, right?

To be fair, there's a poster here that has your prediction in his signature line. And, I do feel slightly better for calling you out only because I think "book it" should be a banned phrase around here. Some of the worst predictions here by quite a few people have been tagged by the words "book it." I'm just having fun with you, we all had high hopes at one time.

So...how'd that 25 win season prediction after the UAH loss work out for ya?

I don't disagree, but I ask what the future holds for us with RV as AD. Where we stand now, what more is there left for him to do other than hire coaches? New stadium, BB facility, Pit upgrades, CUSA, baseball, we've started the process of finally catching up with similar schools in all areas other than coaching. If all there is left to do is manage coaching staffs, I don't want him around anymore.

At least we're getting money from this TV deal, about $1.2 mil. In the Belt, to get national exposure, we had to play on Tuesday and get no TV money out of it.

At the very least, RV's days of usefulness around here are past.
