  1. nice win! i had a hard fought battle with the mean green and my red wolves barely got through 41-3
  2. speaking of 09, have any ya'll that have played the game noticed it has ASU and NT as a rivalry game? i think that's pretty cool and accurate what do you guys think?
  3. surely it can't be as horrible as ULM's general admission side-they had like weeds and tall grass growing underneath the bleachers reaching to the 5-6th row i'm excited to see fouts field this year-it looked pretty sweet in ''necessary roughness''
  4. hey guys-has this guy not started yet? wasn't tip off suppose to be twenty minutes ago?
  5. just got in from the game and i wanted to say ya'll played a great game and me and my buddies all agree you guys run the best no huddle offense we've ever seen! i seriously thought the last game as the indians was gonna be a really BAD one during that first half with ya'lls great offensive attack and blocking our punt and field goal attempt. Vizza and Mosley had a great showing tonight and will become BIG time players in the belt in the coming years. i wish ya'll the best of luck against WKU and FIU and hopefully we'll meet again in the SBC basketball championship game.
  6. North Texas (1-8) vs. Arkansas State (4-6) 7:00 PM Why to watch: C'mon, you know you want to see it. You know you want to see a North Texas team that can throw up 62 points on the board and lose. You know you want to see QB Giovanni Vizza, who threw eight touchdown passes last week against Navy. You know you want to see just how bad a defense can be. This is a meaningless game in the Sun Belt race, but it's vital for the Mean Green to establish something positive, at least something more positive than lots of yards and points. Arkansas State as a date next week with Southern Miss to close things out, but first needs to finish up the Sun Belt race with a win potentially meaning a tie for fourth. For a team hoping for a title this year, this is hardly where it planned on being at this point. Why North Texas might win: Vizza should have all day to throw. UNT's biggest offensive issue is pass protection, or the lack of it, but that shouldn't be an issue against the anemic ASU pass rush that's only come up with nine sacks and 42 tackles for loss on the year. The North Texas defense gives up points and yards to everyone, but there's a chance the inconsistent ASU attack could hover around 30 points. It's not good at turning drives into points. However ... Why Arkansas State might win: The Indians have a shootout in them. ASU QB Corey Leonard threw five touchdown passes and ran for 84 yards and a score in a mid-October win over UL Lafayette, and one of the league's best all-around threats should be able to keep pace with the UNT offense. ASU might be struggling this year, but not at home going 4-1 with wins over SMU and Memphis along the way. Outside of bombing away with the passing game, North Texas doesn't do much else right. Who to watch: On the other end of Vizza's passes last week, at least most of the time, was junior Casey Fitzgerald, who caught 13 passes for 134 yards and five touchdowns. He had a huge game with Daniel Meager throwing him the ball against SMU, 18 times for 327 yards and two scores, and now he's up to 85 catches for 1,126 yards and 12 scores on the year after catching just five passes for 92 yards and two scores in his first two seasons. The Indians have the Sun Belt's most talented secondary and will focus most of its attention on Vizza's favorite target. What will happen: ASU's secondary is far, far better than Navy's. The Indian offense will explode for the first time in weeks, and while UNT will get its passing yards, it won't get enough of them. CFN Prediction: Arkansas State 41 ... North Texas 30 ... Line: Arkansas State -14 Must See Rating: (5 On HBO, "Michigan vs. Ohio State: The Rivalry" - 1 Writer strike induced reruns) ...1.5
  7. it's FRIGGIN COLD up here right now!!
  8. haha you know i was thinking the same thing lol so are any of ya'll gonna be making the trip up to beautiful northeast arkansas this thursday?
  9. we wouldn't have been able to buy off an entire indian tribe like FSU has.
  10. if you're gonna go with that argument, you might as well say that notre dame can't be the fighting irish because that is stereotyping that all irish love to fight. also are you saying that any sport organization can be anything they wanna be (cowboys, boilermakers, blue or red raiders, commodores, cornhuskers, rebels etc) so long as they're white people and not black, mexican, asian, japanese, spanish, native american and so on? either way it's all alright and it's not alright you can't have it a little bit of both because then your symbolizing that white people can be 'poked fun of' but not the 'other people' because they can't handle it or we'll hurt their feelings. i'm sure that if the San Fransisco 49ers had a mascot, Willy the Miner for example, and he came out to entertain the fans, and he was goofy and bumbling around, looking for gold in people's pockets and hats, you would laugh and applaud and be amused....so long as he was white. Any other race and you'd be splattering how 'abusive' and 'hostile' willy the miner is. if any group of people are racist, PC people are.
  11. to be honest i'm not looking forward for us to defend any passing attack at all. FAU just tore our secondary apart last week in the heart breaking loss, and although guys are real highly tuned athletes it just seems like they have their up and down games. monty often gets burned because he likes to step up to the line and try to instantly slow down and deter whoever he is defending. tyrell and khayyam will be flying all over the field making tackles left and right. i will say if you throw the ball up in the air for grab, i would suspect interception city but most teams focus the pass away from those two guy with quick outs and i expect todd dodge to do the same. i will say if this turns into a shootout, i think i'll give you guys the upperhand. our offense is still sputtering too much and is just so damn inconsitent its not even funny-our offensive coordinator is just awful and i suspect we're dropping him at the end of the season.
  12. thanks for the warm welcome guys-i've always thought north texas people are the classiest of the belt. the FAU loss really shot down our morale but i think our guys will put a solid effort for the last home game. everyone here in the boro is all caught up in the mascot debacle really-we've already had 3 mascot forums for students and faculty and another one is being held today. as for what we're going to be, we won't offically know until spring of 08. we have a very complicated mascot selection process right now; we have about 8-9 little sub committees that take suggestions from the ASTATE.EDU website and narrows it down to their top 10. somehow (i dunno how exactly) we're suppose to have it narrowed down to three mascots, in which case a marketing firm from New York will take the top three and give us their potiential marketing ideas and from their a official mascot selection board will make the final decision. Right now, 'Red Wolves' is the leading all the subcommittee's top 10 and from the looks of it will probably be that or some wolf theme.
  13. just doing my usual bit of going on every board of the team we're playing for the week. i gotta say guys that was one helluva game against navy, i couldn't believe what was reading across the ESPN game tracker on the internet. how's the teams spirit? i hope they're not too down after saturday's lost; they played hard and hung with a rejuvenated Navy squad. I must say I'm looking forward to our game, but this game is going to be bitter sweet because as you all may or may not know this will be the last football game we'll ever be known as the 'Arkansas State Indians' and we're having a special ceremony for the retiring of the Indian Family and mascot. good luck to both squads
  14. hey greenies! just wanted to see how game day preparation was coming along? How's the team doing in practice so far? Is Denton ready for this weekends home opener?
