It's usually white on the road. It could be all white or white jerseys/green pants.

He graduated from there. He is a graduate student at Tiffin. I hope that he finishes. He was a great teammate here. He did a good job here in very limited appearances. I'm glad to hear that he is doing well.

GMG Report: Jace Ruder taking Reps at Linebacker
GrayEagle replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
Just looking at the stats, four of our top six tacklers were linebackers. I'd like for them to give Blake Fann at least one game to see how he stacks up against the other 'backers. -
What amazes me is that he is from Farmington AR, a suburb of Fayetteville. He committed to us without waiting for the Razorbacks. I sure hope this holds. The kid is amazing. If he and McDermott both sign, the future really looks bright.

I just realized that the American Athletic Conference is a Major Basketball Conference. As such, we could get at least two qualifiers for the Big Dance. We are no longer considered a mid-major. I'm hoping that could play a factor in our being chosen by recruits. Baby steps but an advancement none the less.

I don't know that the ACC is looking for an additional member at this time. Their next step is to try to get Notre Dame as a full member. The Irish contract for football is up for renewal soon and from what I hear the future doesn't look quite as bright. If the ACC is able to get ND football to join their other sports in the ACC, that would make the ACC a pretty solid conference provided they can keep what they have...especially the major seven of Clemson, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Virginia and Virginia Tech. The other five look solid.

I'm sure that's why Army-Navy is one of the most-watched games every year.

I neglected to say it's not the DFW media pushing SMU it's the D media...as in Dallas Morning News. There was a time when SMU was deserving of the publicity that they received. Doak Walker, Kyle Rote, Forrest Gregg and Don Meredith were Hall of Famers who were worthy of their fame. Scandals kept others from receiving rewards. Still, the DMN kept pushing SMU. It's the reason that SMU has received more publicity; third only to UT and A&M.

I think that there are two reasons. One is their past history. They played in the old Southwest Conference (and did well). They did better than TCU and the Frogs are in the Big XII. SMU and Rice are the oldies that haven't advanced. The other is their recent history. They've had a number of All-Americans (more than TCU) and the DMN believes that they have received more publicity than most of the Big XII. Most of the positive spin lately has come from the Dallas Morning News but SMU is not that strong currently. They've been in the AAC for 13 years and have not won a football championship.

My point was that you can't constantly play a killer schedule when you are new...both coaches and players (at least to each other). Don't worry, the last six games will be tough enough.

The best Cal performance was by their running back Ott. I hope that we don't see a better runner this year or until we get the defense sorted out. They were all over him several times but he just kept churning.

Nothing is certain until it happens but I believe that Eric Morris will right the ship. He faced a team that turned out to be better than predicted. The next four games should be a much lesser challenge. It's very possible that he could win all four. He can look at film and analyst's notes and see where coaches need to correct. Some of the coaches do not have a lot of experience coaching but all have been around football long enough to know where corrections are needed. They know that they need to learn quickly. It's not time to panic yet.

Transfers - What Percent Should We Target
GrayEagle replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
The number can vary widely on who's available and who we can afford. We are getting pretty high-rated recruits and I'd hate to pass on them in order to get a rather short term senior unless it's a real position of need. Several of our recruits now could play as freshmen especially against lower rated teams. A few would be starters as sophomores. We don't really have the deep NIL pocket to chase forty or fifty transfers. Many are in there because they weren't getting the playing time, in their last year classification or just want to see if they can get the big bucks. Don't get me wrong, if you can afford to spend every year you can put together some talented teams. As I understand it, Cal bought 50 players from the Transfer Portal and it looks like they got their money's worth. We seemed to have very good recruiting personnel so I would take less than 50% from the transfer portal. Let's wait to the end of the season and find where our true weaknesses are. -
Scott, you are as rabid about UNT sports as maybe anyone I've known. I've known and enjoyed your company for what??? Thirty five or forty years? I'm not sure that we had enough talent to win that game even if our coaching, personnel and formations had been better. For Game Day they had us beaten in all three phases of the game. They had the ball twice as long as we did. I hope (and expect that Eric will not be at this disadvantage the rest of the season. I still expect him to win the next four games. None of them are close to the talent of Cal. The best news at the game was that DATCU donated $500,000 to UNT. That will enable the university to start the expansion of the Athletic Center and possibly enable our getting a few players out of the portal next year and/or recruiting top players.

ACC officially invites Cal, Stanford and SMU
GrayEagle replied to Cougar King's topic in Conference ReAlignment
What is that Yale graduate doing? SMU join the Ivy League? -
I think that it's time to give up on him. I so wanted to sing the old Buddy Holly tune...Rave On.

It isn't dead (and I use that term respectfully) yet, although UNC it appears will definitely vote no. No vote was taken due to a professor being shot to death on the UNC campus. It had been rumored that the one vote was found which would allow it to pass. The Commissioner of the ACC had announced that another vote would not be taken unless he was sure that it would pass. Rumor was that Clemson was the changed vote. Until it actually happens though, it's just speculation. The other members have a valid point about increased travel costs but that will be eased by Stanford and Cal taking just 30% each and SMU 0.

Yep, I just checked and I don't have it either. According to Spectrum they offered Disney a fair price and they made the price a lot higher.

Yeah, but ours is a dry heat.

BOO!!! We were trained for the hot weather. That was going to be worth at least 14 points advantage. -
G5 Average Talent by League per 247
GrayEagle replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
They go strictly by ratings. Mazin Roberts wouldn't be anything because he started out Division II. Does anyone think that he is still that low-ranked? I used to give a lot of credence to the number of stars; but no more. That's not to say many ratings are wrong but some of our three-star recruits got four stars when a P-5 took them. -
Lifer, there is one thing that will keep the ACC from being raided and they are trying to get Notre Dame as a football member. I believe that Clemson voted for admittance for the three so it looks as if they're staying. It's unstable but could straighten out in the next eight years.

Sorry, Tom. Tyreke Davis has graduated. You need to pick someone else.
