Then make the buyout very expensive. It would be better to travel to a larger stadium this year due to social distancing.

OL Bryce Bray; Oklahoma St. Enters the Transfer Portal
GrayEagle replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
I'm guessing that the connection might be Coach Bloesch. Tulsa offered him in 2017. -
This guy has been showing "warm" to us for about four months now. His video is above impressive. He's listed as an athlete and could be used as a running back, wide receiver or a return man. He might could even play defense but I was less impressed with his play on that side of the ball. Is his offer still on the table?

Top 5 hitters in the history of UNT football?
GrayEagle replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Football
Maybe you should do Top 10. I think that 'Hatchet' Beatty belongs in the Top 5 but surely in the Top 10. -
While I'm boycotting the NFL this year, next year I may be a rabid fan again so my very best wishes for Mason to succeed. His success is of most importance but I wish that there was some way that he could continue to work with Drummond.

DRC: C-USA "staying the course" with football season
GrayEagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
That's the only figure given so far and that was by the governor about six/eight weeks ago. I have three consecutive seats but I don't know if the spacing will be one or two seats to the next group. -
Another huge factor was that they had only won six games in the last three seasons with half of those happening in 2017.

Looks like we offered the day after he committed to Tulane.

247 Article: How De-Commits Are Panning Out
GrayEagle replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
That was almost predictable. They get a better offer and then go sit for the rest of their career. One that I was high on, Jason Kerl, may still be available to us. I can't find that he has signed with anyone. It could be an academics problem such as not having enough courses taken to be eligible. I could be wrong but I believe that his dad was a coach and he'll likely get eligible this year if the pandemic hasn't screwed him up.- 1 reply

Will 2020 UNT football have fans in the stands (Covid)?
GrayEagle replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm leaning towards there will be a season this year. The reason is that the P5s will lose combined multi-millions if there's not. That could mean that only FBS will have a fall season but another question is will it start on time? Maybe, if the summer heat reduces the spread of the virus. I don't worry that much about the players because they're young and healthy and with proper treatment could could be back in playing shape in a short period of time. I saw where Texas Tech had 20 something test positive when they reported and all but 2 are now negative. I've got the longest row to hoe because of my age and I've been diabetic for a long time although that is improving. I've bought my season tickets so I'll be there barring a turn for the worse. We should know more this week. -
Coaches were hired before the pandemic so the salaries would not have been out of line at the time...especially for the quality that we are getting. I believe that this coaching staff is a vast improvement over the 2019 staff and will have more wins even with the tougher schedule. They've had more time to get acclimated to the system and the players due to the virus and the players seem pleased with the coaching changes. I'll be terribly disappointed if we're not bowl eligible this coming season.

College Football News Preview 2020: North Texas Mean Green
GrayEagle replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Football
He obviously had the technique and the footwork to be able to be that highly rated. That much weight just might earn him a starting job as a true. I am really curious about what the new offensive line coach will mean to this year's team. -
Wren and Commissioner Aresco already know each other. The AAC commissioner sent Wren a congratulatory message when he was chosen Athletic Director.

I've heard that there may not be game day sales. We should know in July. -
Javion wins C-USA Male Athlete of the Year!!
GrayEagle replied to MeanGreenTexan's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Way to go, Javion. The Mean Green are proud of your deserved award. Thank you for your part in making the UNT basketball program more respected throughout the nation. Let's hope that this is the beginning of a yearly trend. -
University covid waiver May be prohibited by senate
GrayEagle replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Football
If no or few precautions are taken then I agree that there will be no college football this year. However, the purpose of the agreement as I understand it was to relieve the university of countless lawsuits if anyone got infected. The fact I see is that those infected would blame the university regardless of where they might have contracted the virus. If clear heads win out I could see that each player would be tested on arrival and perhaps weekly thereafter. Those with symptoms would be tested in a shorter period of time. If a university is liable for all of its athletes then how about the student body as well? Then you've opened Pandora's box. It would be cost prohibitive to test every student and athlete within a short period of time. Do we also include the faculty and staff? The cost goes on and on. Personally, I don't see Congress making any college liable for the wellness of its students and employees. You proceed at your own peril which translates to...yes, there will be college sports this year (and classes). -
I've read that he ran a 4.5 forty back in his high school days and played shortstop in the Yankee's farm system which requires good speed. I think that his speed will get him out of sack situations as opposed to Fine. He is our highest rated quarterback at .8646 when he graduated from high school. He has speed and skills.

I think that North Texas is going to be better than most think this year. My prediction is 7-5 for the regular season and withhold a bowl prediction until I see the matchup. Home wins: Houston Baptist, Charlotte, Louisiana Tech, Rice Away wins: Middle Tennessee, UTEP, UTSA The bad news is that we'll start the season 1-4 with losses to Texas A&M, SMU, Houston and Southern Miss. The good news that it's possible that we could win out if we can get past UAB. I believe that we will be much stronger at the end of the year than at the beginning. We have more talent but less experience. The coaching, especially on the offensive line, will be improved. The play-calling will be improved. The running game will be improved even if Siggers hasn't fully recovered. Remember the name Oscar Adaway. We need to hope and pray that everyone can remain healthy.

De-Commits We May Have an Interest In Pursuing
GrayEagle replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Not to pour cold water but I think that we have several linebackers on the roster that are better than Jamerson. I don't believe that we can get Alexander who is warm for Kansas and TCU. I don't know if Boutwell could be of benefit or not but I doubt that Chapman could help. He played at Fouts when Alexander was about four or five years old. -
Let’s get this kids...and he is local
GrayEagle replied to MeanGreen_MBA's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't think that there's any doubt that he would start in spite of decent strength at linebacker. Someone listed him as being from Fort Worth but he played high school football at Flower Mound...even better. He has a national championship ring so what more does he need to accomplish? He needs to come on home and play where his family, friends, (maybe) girl friend can see him play seven times a year. Let's hope that's his reason for transferring. Sic 'em Walerius. -
I renewed mine yesterday and I'm down for the same as last year plus one. I asked about the spacing and I was told that decision will be made in July. That could be because the governor could move capacity back to 25% or forward to 75%. Unless they come up with a proven vaccine I seriously doubt that we'll be at 100%. I haven't heard anything about South Carolina but since Clemson had the highest number of infections in the FBS I feel that there will be no more than 50% allowed to attend and only smaller schools (Furman, the Citadel, etc.) might sell season tickets at fewer than one-half capacity.

It’s past time for radical change in Conference USA
GrayEagle replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree that the SBC would be a step down but all programs are not inferior to all CUSA members. For example, are Appalachian State and Troy inferior to Florida International or Old Dominion? As the Western Division of CUSA is the stronger of existing alliances I would hope that they would have the lead in selecting who would be taken in to the new CUSA. If it were my choice I would take Troy, Louisiana, Arkansas State and Texas State and give up UTEP. That would only be a ten team conference but enough for now. -
It’s past time for radical change in Conference USA
GrayEagle replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree with the first part of your statement. If CUSA and SBC are to survive, the cost of travel and related expenses need to be drastically reduced for two conferences with minimal revenue. The latter part, regarding the schedule cancellations for this year being necessary for change, is not going to happen this year but should be started soon as it will take a couple of years for restructuring and schedule changes to occur. I still cling to the hope that we will be able to join a conference that does not include most of our current conference mates. Normally, I wouldn't think a better conference would be possible but I don't want to underestimate the abilities of our president and athletic director. I firmly believe that they will give that their best shot. However, whatever our outcome, the restructuring of CUSA/SBC is necessary for survival in the opinion of this even older man.
