DRC: UNT depth chart projection following spring practice
GrayEagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
i would normally agree with you Jim but in this case I believe that the enthusiasm will come from #2 and #3. Bloesch and Bennett both seemed to breathe some life in the offense and defense and there seems to be more intensity in both units. I believe that the team will win 7-8 games this year which could create a dilemma. If Seth has another year on his contract and he wins a bowl game, what happens then? -

If you go to Vegas, you may not have enough money left to do any of the other three. -
Is it time for RV to be inducted in the HOF?
GrayEagle replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Rick accomplished a lot on a small budget. That was a factor in some of the bad hires...he couldn't afford some of the good coaches that would have been a no brainer. He was always working to make North Texas better. He should be in the Hall of Fame.- 110 replies

Joe Golding is a good coach and SMU has finalized his contract at $700k. Coach Jankovich has officially retired with a decent record at SMU. From what I hear, he was still putting out good teams but attendance and donor amounts were dropping.

'23 QB Visit: Bryce Fucik; Houston Strake Jesuit
GrayEagle replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
You're right about Houston church schools, Deep, but Strake Jesuit is at the top of the ladder because they are classified 6-A and play in a district with the public schools. -
Jace Ruder taking lead so far this spring

I doubt that this will be Littrell's decision. Bloesch is his QB coach and Offensive Coordinator. It should be his decision. I see all four quarterbacks in the running at this stage. -
Who would be your dream NIT opponent?
GrayEagle replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Basketball
TAMU or SMU in the Championship Game. -
I doubt that Phil Bennett had much to do with their leaving. He could've coached the penalties out of them. My personal belief is that one or more P5s influenced them to leave for greener grass and their dad picked up on that and strongly encouraged them. Money talks.

Don't underestimate Coach Bloesch. He will succeed wherever you put him. He'll prepare himself so that he'll be ready wherever assigned. I believe that he will be an FBS head coach in the near future. It wouldn't surprise me if he has Graham Harrell's tapes memorized by now.

What they all said. Trice is one of our all-time greats as a player and a person.

22' James Djonkam - Edge - Independence CC

All three were near legends but I'd still pick Raveon largely due to the old Buddy Holley tune that played endlessly around here. -
I don't think that this is a prima donna team that thinks that all it has to do is show up for a win. They know that their success is only because they work at it. They have had several close calls and came through because they work their butts off to be good. Being the #1 defensive team in Division I Basketball has been the result of talent and concentration. I don't expect them to do anything other than their best and I see them giving maximum effort. The 13-game winning streak will keep them focused and they'll give it their all. They are the best team in Conference USA (and have the best coaching staff).

The Transfer Portal can be a two-way street. Some of the better G5 players are looking to move up to P5. In Houston's case I believe that their transfers are in the portal because they weren't pleased with their amount of playing time they and can find more at the G5 level since Houston will be moving to P5.

Latest Pomeroy Rankings moved us up to #48 after drubbing of Rice but that's enough to lead CUSA. UAB is at #50.

The merging of The Maniacs and the AD starting to take form
GrayEagle replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Basketball
For those who complain about the name Maniacs, why not change it to the Meaniacs? Problem solved.
