  1. It's not exactly a small town. Huntsville is home to about 220,000 people. The metro area is about three times that population. Rocket City is home to the U S Space Center. I believe that North Alabama University is there. Maybe Judy is trying to get them to join CUSA. She could do (and has done) worse.
  2. Actually there are two more listed on the spring roster; both of which are somewhat of a mystery. Brad Adamcik, #47. is a 6-4, 230 lb sophomore from Keller. I did a search and found a person with the same name from Keller who was 6-6, 230 but was in the class of 2016. He did play TE at Keller Central. Khalil White, #48, is 6-4, 245 junior from Red Oak. The only disagreement with the search is that he was listed as a defensive end.

  5. The IPF was donor specific. It was the first facility requested by the AD and seems to have paid off handsomely. Coaches and players alike have praised the facility. It sure beats practicing in 100 degree heat or pouring rain. Many high schools have Indoor Practice Facilities now and anything less by us would seem unimpressive to recruits. It seems to be paying off in the quality of recruits that it's attracting. I thought that the athletic center expansion was in the budget but now I see that the expectations are for a large donor to furnish the major funding. I doubt that we have enough heavy donors for that to happen in this economy. The last I heard they were courting Mattress Mac (former linebacker who graduated from UNT) to be the donor but I'm not sure that is still in progress. I expect the building to be started within the next school year if we have to borrow from ourselves and pay it back gradually. The only alum that I know has that has millions is Brint Ryan but he has given 30 million to the College of Business which is named for him. I doubt that he'd want to donate another huge amount so soon. I wish that some of the heavy rollers could pool donations and name the Athletic Center in honor of C. Dan Smith, a former athlete who gives to most UNT needs.
  6. It's an FBS rule. Some schools couldn't do that. For instance, who does Boise State, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wyoming, etc. play? If a state had an odd number of FBS teams, who gets left out? Just say NO!!!
  7. It seems to me that's an easy fix. Have a horn sound when the shot clock goes to zero. Then all the ref has to do is look to see if the shooter released the ball before the horn sounded. To me, basketball is the hardest game to officiate. In another vein, has travelling been eliminated as a violation?
  8. I'd bet it was. Maybe he just doesn't like to play defense.
  9. I could be wrong, Jim, but I believe that you only have to sit out a year if it's your second transfer.
  10. We have the other 32 teams already. It's called the NIT. Leave it alone.
  11. Luke Carter TE Katy Brandon Jones LB Dallas South Oak Cliff Kerry Williams DB Dallas South Oak Cliff Davion Hurth OL Mesquite Horn
  12. Harris may never leave; I believe that he is tenured.
  13. It's not that it's a total lockout this year. We have gotten a little film and some sparse comments but the coaching staff is putting in a new system, offense and defense, so any distractions should be held to an absolute minimum. Bret may not be allowed at the practice, I don't know, but he has been allowed to interview a coach (Cobbs) and a player (Nwaiwu). It seems that they had a little difficulty with the new stuff early but things are getting better by the practice and the players are liking it. Somehow, I feel that in spite of losing some very good players who had eligibility left, we will be better than last year and we haven't had the fall enrollers yet and I believe that three or four of them could be starters or immediate backups.
  14. My concern is that I'm not sure that he has a position. By that I mean does he play offense or defense? He does well at either but if he had concentrated on one or the other he would improve that side of the ball. I think that he'll be good but I don't think that he'll be a starter. I hope that he proves me wrong.
  15. I think Grant got a very good deal.
  16. And you will share your observations?
  17. I believe that he has one year of eligibility left. He played at UIW in 2019, 2021. He transferred to Colorado where he played one year.
  18. If I remember correctly, didn't we beat them twice already this season? Somehow they managed to win in the tournament (and that was the last time we met) so we should be able to avenge that. If they can repeat the stifling defense that they put on Wisconsin in the last half then I don't see many teams that can beat us.
  19. On the surface this might seem a little awkward I think that it's a good plan because it would eliminate tinkering. Those whose contract is up could either receive three/four more years or go to the transfer portal. In fact, any player whose contract was not renewed would be eligible for the transport portal. If not taken Division II could offer a scholarship or he could pay his way at the same school. What it might eliminate is redshirting. If you give a player a four year contract and redshirt him the first year would he not be eligible for another team in his fifth year? Of course, you could offer him a one-year scholarship but if there were other suitors who offered more you would lose him. Sounds fair.
  20. Mine, too. I have long advocated that Mike Aresco was the best commissioner in the FBS and that I'd rather have him in our corner than any other person. I'd like to see the champion of the top six conferences get an automatic bid while the number seven rated conference plays number ten and number eight plays number nine for the seventh and eighth spots in the playoff (much as the lower rated conferences in basketball have to play-in for a spot in the sixty four team NCAA Basketball Championship tournament). The other teams still play in bowl games but it takes seven wins to qualify for a bowl; thereby greatly reducing the number of bowls but raising the quality. That would mean that independents would have to attach themselves to a conference for playoff purposes or only play in bowls.
  21. The best offensive comeback was undoubtedly the win over UTSA at Apogee that occurred in the last 1:07. But this defense wins the trophy. What did they hold them to...12 or 13 points in the second half? I don't know if that's ever been done before.
  22. He played in '23; I believe that he would be in the class of '24.
  23. Thanks, I kind of missed the point. However, several of these coaches will show up in both places. Coach Kratz has more posts in the recruiting forum than the regular football forum.
  24. Someone warn Adler. Other than it being black, I like the design.
