His amazing shot was on Channel 11 along with about 30 seconds of highlight film. At the end the newscaster commented about how well North Texas was doing and the sportscaster (Bill Jones?) repeated about the 17 home game winning streak.

Chuck Mills?

Some of this I know and some is speculation but this is what I believe. Based on the current level of membership all Mean Green Club members (except the $125 level) will park south of I-35. The higher your level of giving, the closer you will park to the stadium. I don't believe that priority points will have a major effect on parking, only for seat preference. However, some or all Green & White members ($250) could be squeezed out if there are more donors in membership levels above them than there are parking spaces. Again, just guessing, but the lot color could be for a specific level of giving (or two or three could be combined). I would think that at the $250 level parking will be on a first come, first served basis. Priority points for late donors would simply be too hard to factor in. Those without parking passes must park north of I-35. I don't know that the other factors such as shuttle bus stops, paid parking areas, remote lots, etc. have been finalized and it may be some time before that is known. I would get my donation, especially if it is to be at the Green & White level in as soon as possible to assure a parking place south of the interstate. P.S. I am not a rep so if any of them have more current information please post.

Yes, they are allowed to go and the AD picks up their tab.

It's simple. The MWC just invites anyone located west of the Mississippi to join that is not in an AQ conference. Everyone forms their own TV network. It may even be a large enough consortium that it could become an AQ conference. If it becomes too large then we split into winter and spring divisions. Everyone is happy because no one is left out unless they want to be. Each can be as greedy as they would like because there is no conference or NCAA money to distribute so nothing to share.

North Texas Significantly Boosts Asst Coach Pay
GrayEagle replied to ColoradoEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
I believe that he will. His coaching is probably somewhat of an unknown and he likely did receive a small raise from what he was making at Montana State. If we have the anticipated success this year and Coach Gaines has played his part then I believe that he gets the first/largest raise. Raises make you feel as if you are improving your job performance. Look on the bright side. It got him out of Montana to his adopted state where there appears to be a ton of upside in his situation. -
Turn Out Turn Off The Wac Lights Please !
GrayEagle replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
1. This article is derogatory to North Texas. It says that even North Texas turned them down. It also didn't mention that this had been ongoing for several years. 2. Nowhere is there any implication that the MWC is about to offer SJSU membership in the Mountain West. It is a story spun from one meeting with the MWC in which nothing was offered or promised. 3. San Jose State would have to leave the WAC before there is a chance that someone might need to get the lights. 4. It's the San Jose Mercury-News for Pete's sake. They have been notorious for starting rumors with little or no fact. They're yellow journalism at its best. -

Conference Office Ask Mwc Board To Ceas Expansion Threads
GrayEagle replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I certainly don't mind waiting until Feb. 1st but even if one or more posted inside information or lucky guesses, how would we know which one is correct? There are at least four teams involved positively and that many or more negatively. They can't all be right. Besides, anything done to this point since Hawaii is strictly unofficial until the conference meets next week. It ain't official 'til it's official. -

It may have cost him a legitimate shot at the North Texas job but I think that he gained a couple of million dollars by pushing the issue. If memory serves he was only offered a few hundred thousand dollars. -
It's especially unfortunate for us as we are just beginning our ascent from the bottom-feeders of the FBS. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Our federal government is in such deep caca that we are in serious danger of no longer being the universal currency. When our money is no longer accepted because of our huge debt it will create either runaway inflation or a deep depression, depending on how we choose to deal with it. Either will cause a drop in student enrollment because the money just won't be there for the student loans. Moreover, federal government spending usually forces the states to pay for it so that they have to cut their own expenditures to pay for federal demands. One of the easiest ways to do that is to cut college-level spending. I appreciate that Lane Rawlins accepted the permanent presidency of UNT knowing that funding was going to be cut and our need to cover increasing expenditures for research and athletics. But, it could be worse. Next year tuition, books, room and board at SMU will be a whopping $52,000.

This Year's Recruiting Day Event For Fans

Is this the Holiday Inn between Dallas Dr. and Teasley Ln. on I-35? Or is it a new location? -

If he had another 20-30 lbs of muscle he have to carry liability insurance. -
I'm thinking that Drew Miller is another that might do better at linebacker. That's his preferred position and he played it well in the Oil Bowl. A question is that we know that Power can play TE but can he also play at the U-Back/H-Back? Or does a smaller TE play that position?
-
I found three sources that listed his as first-team all-district, including MaxPreps. UNM lists him as 6'5", 245. Also note that Lloyd Carrington, DB, of Dallas Lincoln was a visitor.

Your best shooter just scored 25 off the bench but I don't know if it improved his defense. This team is too poor defensively and Josh White had a horrible off-night. This team does not appear to be the equal of last year's team. However, the rest of the league is rather weak and I still feel that we can win the tournament.
-
Then bring on TCU. They don't have to worry about a conference advantage and we would no doubt draw more than Tennessee Tech, SFA, etc. Hell, I'd play them in a Tom Thumb (Safeway) parking lot.

Wish you well, Todd(s). I hope that you can put Pitt back to their glory years of Ditka and Dorsett.

I'm not too sure how many we want to hear about. I would imagine that there is perhaps an equal amount coming in next week for the football banquet. That's usually some of the higher profile recruits if history holds. We know the ones that have indicated an interest in North Texas but there could be a few that are highly rated with no previous interest shown (at least as far as Rivals, Scout and ESPN are concerned) that will be here in the next two weeks. Those might wait until they find that there are no scholarships left from their non-AQ BCS choices. This staff looks to be excellent recruiters but we all know that the uncommited was a pretty sparse list by the time the staff was in place. With more success this year we should do a lot better next year.
-
I wish that you hadn't brought that up. That means that we were about half of the next lowest last year.
-
I'm not sure that we've had a Top 50 team, much less a Top 25. The conference schedule is not conducive to have top teams and our attendance won't get many home and home games that we can win. That, and most teams don't have the budget to get a first class coaching staff. There is not enough payout from the NCAA for much improvement. They would have to hit it lucky. The Belt and the MAC will be bottom feeders for longer than I have left on this earth.

Hey, I'm flattered. Not as flattered as I was the first time that they called but flattered nonetheless.

I don't believe that UTEP would ever leave CUSA without another Texas team going with them. At least that's what their fans say; I don't know about their administration. One other thing...if SMU was so vehemently against our joining the same conference then why would they schedule six games with us beginning in 2014? Again, their fans might be against it but who can speak for their administration? Also, I'm not so sure that Tulsa would vote against us and maybe not even Rice.
-
Green Mean was looking at it from the MWC's perspective; not Houston's. Those two markets have more viewers than any currently in the Mountain West. From his perspective he thinks that the MWC should look at the potential TV dollars. I agree with you that it is highly unlikely that UH will consider (strongly) abandoning a conference that they help found to explore the lateral unknown. UNT, however, is totally different. It would allow the MWC to continue in the fifth largest market. Our number of students and alumni approximately doubles the total for SMU and TCU combined, giving them an even greater presence. Further, our leaving the SBC would not disrupt CUSA or the WAC. On the other hand unless one could talk BYU into returning (million to one odds), the WAC or CUSA would be impacted when picking a 12th team. If Utah State were chosen as the twelfth team it would wreck the WAC unless Benson could talk Montana and Montana State into joining. If UTEP were the other team, CUSA would either take LaTech (again causing a problem for the WAC) or a Sun Belt team such as Troy or Middle Tennessee.

Being called a commuter school shouldn't be a problem if it's answered correctly. Hell, the University of Texas is a commuter school by definition and it doesn't hurt them. There simply aren't enough dorm beds to qualify. The vast majority live in or near Austin but not on campus. There are enough that live around the city of Denton that I've never had the feeling of North Texas being a commuter school. I can't speak to Texas State but I am curious as to where they commute from. Probably most of them live around San Marcos. I'd wager that very few universities have enough dorm space to cover the percentage required to NOT be considered a commuter campus if the student enrollment is 30,000 and up.
