  1. Brigham Young has been an independent so long that they don't know anything about this conference logo stuff.
  2. We were looking at him as a defensive back. I don't believe that he would've played here next year as either a defensive back or a wide receiver.
  3. All anyone needs to know is DATCU. Who cares if outsiders don't know what it stands for. Houston's stadium is named for a credit union.
  4. It's the University of Dallas wannabe.
  5. I think what mainly convinced me was the camps. They handled the skills, the energy and the knowledge very well as was reported. They jumped right in on the recruiting. There were a couple on the staff that I knew to be very experienced but many seemed to be first time assistant coaches. After what has transpired in the relatively short period of time and with amazing energy this staff is the most active and vocal of all our previous staffs. We've had vocal coaches but many of the staff were rather quiet.
  6. YBYSA! I didn't think so a few weeks ago but I like our odds now. We have most of any frailties covered now. We also got who I think was the best player available C J Noland. We have four 40% 3-point shooters. The position that I worried about most was center. The improvement of Sissoko and the addition of Allen shored up a lot of my concern. There's still FAU and Memphis, either of whom could be the favorite but I like our chances.
  7. The bald eagle, being the National Bird, is protected by a federal law. You cannot own one but in certain situations you can house one and have one perform at pregame situations. The only college team that has that permission is Auburn. They keep the eagle (which they do not own) at the College of Veterinary Science and it was performing at the pregame ceremonies. I say was because the SEC issued a ban on live animal performances at games. The law of eagle possession applies to the golden eagle as well as the bald eagle. Scrappy is a bald eagle and is what we would want to use as a mascot. In the 1950s North Texas used a sea eagle which was kept in a cage at the games on the track. It did not leave the cage. In 1956 I had the responsibility to hook the trailer up and drive to the zoo in Fort Worth and pick up "Scrappy" and drive him to the game. He stayed in front of the fraternity house at 1406 W. Hickory. The next day I would return him to Forest Park Zoo. He looked like a golden eagle but he was actually a sea eagle; thus not protected by the wildlife protection act.
  8. I think that we are safer than we have been. The visitation during camps, making friends of our coaching staff, and possibly even exposure to NIL have made a commitment more secure in my opinion.
  9. Well, it was Elvis' home town after Tupelo. Maybe they can enjoy the high crime rate.
  10. The loss of Nixon will affect us because he seemed to be reaching his peak and it would have been great to have him for his final year. I don't worry much about Wood and Brown but I hope that another LB can step to the front.
  11. After me being unimpressed with Mazin Richards, I don't look askance at any highly touted player below FBS.
  12. One small footnote. Sidney Sue Graham was the wife of Sports Information Director Fred Graham. She begged him to use it in describing the team. He thought it was corny at first but relented and began using it in his reporting. The rest is history.
  13. I'm thinking Barnes but Bartholomew would be great too. Maybe we get both today.
  14. To be more exact the stars weren't copied, there was no bomb in the talon's grasp and the eagle is diving in a different direction. ' My question are copyrights international or only good for one nation? It seems to me that the same logo would have to be registered in each nation to be called infringement. I would think that the trademark would be checked in the U.S. for duplication.
  15. It's barf green. What's the point?
  16. Well, I've seen their stadium and it's first class. I remember when they had elite basketball teams. I believe that they will hire better coaches who will raise their status by being in the Pac 12. I know that we have played them twice in football and it wasn't even close. There's plenty of money in Vegas and if they can get a few high rollers behind them then they can have great facilities which will attract better players. I don't know of any better potential success places to build a program(s).
  17. The Pac 12 should do the sensible thing. Forget the elite academics and make it an athletic conference. Replace the LA universities with San Diego State and UNLV. Both are in large markets and wouldn't decrease the payout terribly. Both would get up to speed after a couple or three years.
  18. I don't doubt that for a minute.
  19. I saw it somewhere but I haven't found it. It was a name and a number like Legends 11. He wasn't the main person but he was mentioned in addition to another player. I've queried his name and followed all postings to the bitter end. I'll keep looking but unless he gets a transfer I probably won't find it.
  20. The budget is the estimated income and the estimated expenses. This statement is supposedly actual income and expenses. By the way the figures that you furnished only added to $38.694M. My guess is that the cutoff date is different.
  21. It looks as if he will never achieve what his dad, No, did.
  22. These figures are not the budget; they are the revenue and expenses. The only problem is that the amount allocated does not state where those funds come from. I believe that our allocation comes from student fees, donations, and other income. We have a very large amount from student fees because our enrollment keeps growing. So far, I believe that we do not have to take anything from the Universities revenue. In other words, nothing from the non-athletic funds. We are relatively solvent as long as our enrollment keeps growing. We are fortunate there. Many universities are having a decrease in enrollment. If that is combined with a decrease in giving, which it usually is, they can have to borrow from funds allocated to other departments to keep athletics solvent. This chart doesn't tell if the budget is solvent or in a deficit situation which the university must make up.
