  1. I can't understand why there aren't a dozen hurrahs, welcome, and love it on this commitment. Cash is our future and by the time he's ready we will have some very good/great receivers and tight ends ready with him. We have admired his character but not necessarily his ability. I like both. I keep watching the game between China Spring and Stephenville and I see him do a myriad of things to win that game after being down three scores. We need to get on his band wagon and ride to an AAC championship. Great to have you, Cash. On second thought, why not more than one?
  2. He will have two years left to compete.
  3. I also agree. The only additional verbiage that I will use are GO and Get preceding Mean Green.
  4. I lived out there a little while back in the day. I remember they had a saying "When it's pretty no one wants to leave. When it's not, you can't."
  5. The days of flying under the radar are long gone. There are other sources available, predominately 247, that have commits, decommits, offers, transfers and other info by each FBS team...so we aren't revealing anything that's not already known.
  6. Thanks JD. I really enjoyed the interview. Cash seems very talented and I like his commitment to North Texas. He has at least four very good receivers and will have three good tight ends by the time he gets on campus. Cash seems to have a good head on his shoulders and is confident in his ability but is not cocky. His ability seems unquestioned. What a fine young man.
  7. He is a former 4 star player. Maybe there is something left in his tank for the right coach to draw out. I know that the chances are minimal but if his style of play can be developed by coach Hodge he just might be a contributor.
  8. The PAC12 still has USC and UCLA this year. Ditto for Big XII with Texas and OU as well as Houston, Cincinnati and UCF. Those two will drop next year.
  9. They're leaving the star on, aren't they? I understand that someone put an eagle on your flag where the star was.
  10. His brother is an A&M quarterback. It wasn't an invite; he did it on his own. He did not get an offer. I don't know his brother's classification. Maybe they are only a year apart.
  11. Not when the B1G seems intent on grabbing Oregon, Washington, and anyone that can add value to their conference. It looks possible that the conference will be so big that some of the teams wouldn't play each other but about once every ten years unless they played only conference members. Greed personified.
  12. The latter. It's an escape for me and I think that's true for most everyone. The only downside is if we have a recession, this could be a luxury that I can't afford.
  13. First of all, SMU's future as a member of the Pac 12 is about 99% dead. It would take a miracle of no small proportion for that to happen. In my opinion the only chance that I see is for Colorado to leave the Pac 12 and join the Big XII where they were a charter member when it was the Big 8. If that should happen, Colorado would go to the Big XII after Texas and Oklahoma leave and then they would be one short of having 12. Then, I believe SMU would be perhaps the #1 candidate. That's probably the only chance for SMU in the near future. So, for now, prepare for the Mustangs to stay a member of the AAC. They'll keep trying as long as there is a P5; it's not that they are avoiding us.
  14. I'm not sure that he can run 40 yards at one time but he moves. Of course, he's been blocking high school boys; don't know if he can do that to college players. By the way, he's supposedly down to a svelte 385. If you will query Keon Johnson Akron OH you will find some video of his senior year.
  15. Should we then get rid of the cheer where one stands shouts NORTH and the other side responds with TEXAS?
  16. With 18 P5 offers the only faint ray of hope might be that one of his teammates is on our roster and the closeness to home. Otherwise we don't stand a chance.
  17. Denton now has a population of 140,000 and Denton County is around 900,000. Plus we have nearly 45,000 students. The people are there; they just need some diligent marketing. I still think that you start with the students; then the alumni, then the townspeople, then the county. Hell, discount some tickets; especially in the wing zone. Be sure to sell the students at Orientation. We've got some real recruiters on this football staff. Let one or two of them talk it up. The other sports do well also. Start with selling the Freshmen; then keep it up every year. Give away tickets to youngsters if need be.
  18. I've said it before and I'll say it again...Mike Aresco is the best commissioner in FBS football. I hope that we can win a national championship in some sport just to advance his resume. I think that we'll be strong in basketball, football, softball, women's soccer, men's golf, and track and field early on which makes me glad that Mike picked us. I want us to do him proud.
  19. Damon, I am so glad that you got your life straightened out and that it was Darrell Dickey that helped you.
  20. Since the AAC isn't going to be set up on a divisional basis our schedule will vary. We will play the team nearest (SMU) every year home and away. From there, I don't believe that it's an established pattern. It seems that you will play teams that are closer to you a little more often than those further away. Just guessing, but we will likely play three OOC games each year against FBS opponents with no games against FCS opponents unless it's an emergency (cancellation by scheduled opponent). Ideally, we should have two OOC home games one year followed by one OOC at home.
  21. While we do have similar attendance, SMU has less than 10,000 students and 40-50,000 alumni in the area while we have 44,000 students and around 300,000 alumni in the Metroplex. We should double their attendance without breaking a sweat (except that we don't have a facility large enough to handle even a small percentage of the total available).
  22. I don't really want to be a devil's advocate and I agree with most of what has been said about them but we need SMU in the AAC. They don't really win many championships but they are usually contenders. For that reason I'm glad that they didn't go to the Big XII. I think that the AAC is stronger with SMU in the conference. The attendance at our games with them are among the best attended for each every year. Being in the same conference, I would expect sellouts for every football game. Much of their prestige dates back to the Southwest Conference and the Doak Walker and Don Meredith days but those were great times for them and even the dark days of suffering a year of losing the right to play cannot extinguish those. Now go back to the infighting.
  23. NIL, IMHO, is the worst thing that has happened to college football. The players are now semi-pros with little to earn it. Very few have established a "name" after a couple of years of high school ball. There are very few likenesses of their image. Even four and five star recruits have little publicity outside of the sports pages. Furthermore, if there were to be NIL, there should be a limitation in the maximum amount of payment.
  24. If we did they were very high 3-star by the time we got them.
  25. I believe that Rice will invest perhaps a similar amount of money as they did in their SWC days. I can see why they didn't want to invest big dollars into CUSA; it just wasn't worth it. Now, is different. They are competing with "private" schools on the same level. I believe that the AAC has more private universities than any other FBS Conference with SMU, Tulane, Tulsa, and Navy, with Rice making the fifth. All have been at the lower level except for SMU. Rice needs to find a Jess Neely type coach and let him build a contender. I expect Rice to bend their academic requirements only slightly at the most with only Navy in contention for extremely high grades.
