  1. Baseball good, but don’t see the advantage of a new basketball arena so far away from where most the students live---do you? Since some of y’all want to go smaller for a basketball arena (which Wren Baker would probably never do) then move to the Men’s Gym for a year then gut the Super Pit for a complete redux. What year did you graduate, UNTFan23? 1976 was my graduation year—I’m old.🎅 GMG!
  2. Just got a note from a fellow alum who said the expansion of Apogee is already on the official UNT Master Plan so I guess all this has been keyboarding practice for all. I think Wren Baker will take that Master Plan & do what he does best—be proactive with it. finis’
  3. ❇️Happy Birthday Mean Joe Greene!❇️
  4. Way to go, Emmitt01! ❇️👍👍❇️ GMG!
  5. Easy to think as we all have at UNT when Athletic dept. leadership was mostly all talk & rarely any do plus UNT finally started putting a high rollers (& large contributors) list together. Like Deep Green said there are others out there with those kind of bucks that can be tapped. You expand with the goal of having at least 1 P5 opponent on campus every year—sometimes 2. You beat them & Top 25 rankings are easier to attain. Some of the snowball “lower guarantees” schools on our future schedule can be bought out & replaced as that’s done all the time. With 283,000 UNT alums (as one posted that official number the last 24 hours) living within 1 to 1.5 hours of Apogee I like Wren Baker’s chances (& his obvious talents) of tapping into that gold mine successfully. CUSA cannot be our last stop. TCU went through 4 conferences in a 10 year period before they landed in the Big 12. For certain, UNTFan23, & looking ahead we might not need a 40K stadium most every game, but when Notre Dame calls us for a game in Texas I’d hope we’d say no to Jerry’s World &...DO IT IN DENTON (an old Denton Chamber of Commerce motto as I recall). Again, the LSU vs La Tech game was the Tigers first sellout in about 3 years. So there is no formula that says: (1) You have to sellout every home game or (2) You have to sellout Apogee 20 games in a row before there can be expansion talk. if we’d done that at Fouts we’d still be there since we never sold it out. (Of course, TxDOT’s future I-35E plans is the main reason we’re no longer at Fouts Field truth be told.
  6. I love the walk over the Pedestrian Bridge from Fouts. Doesn’t take any time.
  7. Last time I recall the La Tech fandom, players & coaches having such an exuberant, confident of a sure victory attitude toward North Texas the Mean Green traveled to Ruston & brought back a 41-7 win. Of course, most of you weren’t born the year that happened, but their fans have this “we’re destined for greatness—you just call us daddy” attitude & most years it seems that’s always their attitude. GMG!
  8. Tony be right! SUMG, too, from his weAther report to me yesterday. We won’t need Noah or his Ark this Saturday. 🔵 Blue skies & a very 🔵 blue La Tech football team after we slobber’knock them back to Jambalaya “crawfish pie, fillet gumbo” Country. • We will win this game by 3 or 4 touchdowns. GMG!
  9. What if Vesuvius erupts once again & swallow all of Italy? Deep Green probably still has distant cousins in that part of the world. BTW, don’t ever piss off DG because he has a Cuzzin’ Guido in Sicily. I narrowly escaped his anger a few years ago but still profusely apologized to Phil just in case.😳 BEAT THE HELL OUT OF LA TECH!
  10. The good feelings we all had after our Arkansas win we need to experience in Denton. As I said, Wren Baker will listen but I’m sure have nothing to do with attitudes that kept us in Fouts Field about 25 years longer than we should have. I wonder how many traveling Hokie fans were at that game at ODU’s small capacity stadium? Most likely not many. With such a small stadium there is no way ODU made their guarantee to VTI. Also wonder if local merchants benefitted from what had to be a small number of visiting Hokie fans? College town businesses usually welcome thousands of visiting fans. If we had 9K more seats for our Texas Tech game in a few seasons Red Raider fans would flll those (& more) & pay for most of their gate receipts guarantee. Can we draw at least 31,000 Mean Green fans in a game vs the Red Raiders? (Of course we can). ADLER lists other schools who’d have similar drawing power as Texas Tech with thousand of visiting fans to Old & New Denton.🙄 GMG! 🔺🔴🔻
  11. The way Wren Baker operates by ignoring past failures & “living in the past” attitudes at UNT I’d bet he already has the vision that ADLER has so adeptly stated. One major facility (IPF) at a time so this expansion won’t happen next year, but this group in the present AthleticDept. seems to not wait for the paint to dry on one project until they start their visualization on the next. Anyone else notice in the LSUvsLa Tech game video when the broadcaster said “this is the first sellout at LSU in a few years?” GMG!
  12. No matter how you slice it it will still be “ day of Game” walk up ticket sales that give us the crowd we end up with which I now think will be SRO. Looking at how we’ve not been inundated with multiple winning seasons the last 30 years I think we’d all take ticket sales whichever way or day they may come. ❇️GMG!❇️
  13. It would be great if he could. He used to live in the DFW area at his ranch. I saw his brother’s Miley horse trailer traveling on I-20 here in Parker County a few years ago.
  14. Delusions of Grandeur in Ruston, perhaps?🤔 🔵🔴 The Little Red & Blue EngineThat Could: 🗣 I think I can...I think I can...I think I can...I think I can...I think I can. ____________________ Hogdawg: ”Who we playin’? Dwayne of Minden: “North Texas.” 🐖-🐶: “I think we can’t...I think we can’t...I think we won’t!” ✅ BEAT THE HELL OUT OF LA TECH!
  15. LOL! Not the least. My title threads have gotten longer with old age. Brevity is...? I just get tired of reading my own thread titles at times so I delete them. Glad I didn't post the Declaration of Independence back in the day! greenminer: Lets drink a beer on CHAMPIONS SATURDAY. It's on me (well, not literally on me). 🙂
  16. I’ve already heard there will be numerous NFL Hall of Famers at Mean Joe Greene’s statue unveiling at 4:00 pm this Saturday. One might predict that part of Joe’s extended Pittsburgh Steelers family (including a representative of the Rooney family) will be at Apogee this Saturday. (Not sure La Tech’s Terry Bradshaw could do this with all his NFL TV dutie). Fun day ahead. 🤠 (Get tickets today if you haven’t but especially tell your casual MG fans friends to do same). ❇️ Outside Denton call 1-800-UNT-2366 to order your tickets. GMG!
  17. North Texas through the decades just needed wins (and consecutive winning seasons) to grow our large fan base. 2 winning seasons every 10 years would be a downer for most G5 programs. It was for ours. • With our huge constituency from which to draw fans our school has proven to be more than capable of making a dramatic comeback at the turnstiles with merely more wins with a few that some would call signature (as in what happened in Fayetteville). ❇️ What (then 0 & 3) ODU did to the VTU Hokies defies logic, but can you imagine how such a win by the Mean Green would have catapulted us to a certain Top 25 ranking prior to this Saturday’s La Tech football game? Just a few more wins & winning seasons is all we’ve wanted for the last half century & now we seem to have all pistons running in sync that could give us such continuity. GMG!
  18. Sad but true.
  19. The fix is in. Programmed computer banks or some hacker whose devised a system to keep UCF Davy O’Brien candidates with abundance of votes? Conspiracy? No, but look at how America’s adversaries are using our own technology against us. Seems to have been a big national topic the last 2-3 years come to think of it. ✅ (I just voted for Mason Fine again not so much for his stats but his superb field general talents).
  20. Me too! We (35K plus MG fans) would displace everyone wearing purple with green within a 5 mile radius of Amon Carter Stadium. GMG!
  21. Had a friend tell me today that they are now talking sunshine, lollypops and rainbows for this Saturday. Wonder how many times this Saturday's weather will change from day to day? :) Where is Harold Taft when we need him? GMG!
  22. T E X A S ! !
  23. You've said it all, UNTLifer. GMG!
