  1. Amen, Bro'! REAL KOLACHES! My mother would pay good money to local Czech women to make kolaches and another bakery delight which they called a Tea Ring. Ever heard of a Tea Ring, NTSUEagle? Below is a Tea Ring. Now I'm getting hungry.
  2. Just spoke to a friend who is working off Denton's University Drive & he says its been intermittent but has stopped for the moment. Bring a towel to wipe off stadium seats? Looks like around 4 PM all will be just "FINE" from all accounts. GMG! Neither rain, snow, sleet or hail (or a tsunami) 😎 will keep most of us from today's festivities. Some of us have been waiting for decades for this kind of thing to happen in Denton & we want to be there to see it. GMG!
  3. FFR, I think WBAP (especially Hal Jay & the TCU play by play) Morning guys have us on their persona non-grata list. me'thinks (they think) North Texas has just gotten a bit too much of their spotlight last few weeks. The WBAP radio crew need to understand that out of 7 million Metroplex citizens that about 6.5 million of us could care less about the TCU. Horned Frogs. After all, aren't they Fort Worth's Home Team--not DFW's? :) GMG!
  4. Ditto, Huff. Mean Joe Greene's photo takes up 1/3'rd of the front of the FWST sports page. We cannot complain about DFW coverage especially since we beat the Razorbacks (which gave us much national coverage). GMG!
  5. Half my HS graduating class were of Czech descent. Their parents still had the accent. My oldest (late) sister married a Czech. Great, hard working people. Czech women make the best kolaches. Many Czechs in the area I grew up were rice farmers and ranchers or.....(like my late dad) worked at Dow Chemical Company, Freeport, Texas. GMG!
  6. True, but posted this to show his speed in open field. GMG!
  7. βœ”οΈ
  8. Even a blind Hog finds an acorn every once in awhile? (Or is that, uh, blind Razorback)? :) I've been looking all over internet to see what L.E ran a 40 in when he was being recruited. He looks like a 4.5 or 4.6 guy just looking. GMG!
  9. Start at 1:51:10 for (then) true freshman Loren Easly when he was a Lumberjack. Never read what Loren ran a 40 in & I've Googled everywhere. GMG!
  10. As of Friday Evening looking at pre-game. sales this far: Most Parents (plus the UNT student's siblings) will buy at the Apogee ticket outlets on Game Day. 30,500 Fans will be entering stadium up to the beginning of the 2'nd quarter. UNT Students * .....................................12,000 (a record for UNT students) Parents (It's Parents Weekend)...........3,000 La Tech fans......................................2,500 * We had 10,000 UNT students for the SMU game. 30,500 plus SRO ! ❇️ Weather forecast for Game Day seems to change hourly.
  11. This was last week's OU vs Army Pre-Game. I think this was the group who were supposed to parachute the game ball into our own Army game at Apogee last year but was cancelled due to high "cold" winds. Watch the beginning, but the OU Marching Band makes its Grand Entrance starting about 1:50 on this video. (Didn't realize the Oklahoma state song came from the Rogers & Hammerstein musical..."Oklahoma."
  12. Friday AM Just voted (again) ❇️ Mason is 30 votes shy of having 2,000 votes.
  13. I was at the Super Pit's first game & probably didn't miss a home game for its first 10 years, yet neither one of us will probably not live long enough to see the Super Pit get replaced. It should be gutted & the interior rebuilt with all the bells & whistles of college BB venues of this era. Since some of yall like a smaller seating capacity basketball venue (for a school with almost 40,000 students) the 4,500 seat Men's Gym could be home court for a year while the 'Pit is having its redux. GMG!
  14. NTXCoog, how far back do you go in Cougar' Country? Ever go to one of these? This is a UH Band Day at the Astrodome in 1966. It was announced that there were 13,000 bandsmen in this pic and my school's HS band was in this group. Our Danbury HS Band Director (Manuel Garza, former UT Longhorn MB member) let 2 or 3 of us footballers go as "instrument handlers." :) NTXCoog, a few of my memorable moments in the Dome: (1) Saw Mickey Mantle hit the 1'st home run on Grand Opening night 4/09/65--Prez' LBJ & Ladybird were there, too (2) Saw UH & Elvin Hayes beat Lew Alcindor (still his name then) and the UCLA Bruins before 50,000. We had terrible seats. (3). Saw the Oilers Ken Houston almost decapitate Cowboy receiver Lance Rentzel tackling him after a reception in a pre-season exhibition game.
  15. Yet Boise State has still been a regular in the Top 25 and were this season until an early loss took them out of it. Indy' Brigham Young U is an interesting situation. Their fans do not want in the MWC. Apparently, BYU seems to think being a successful Independent is their quickest route to a P5 future. MWC schools (except for 2 or 3) have larger stadiums and larger home attendance than CUSA. Not a reason to jump ship now, but how many of you don't think UTSA or UTEP would jump at the chance to separate themselves from all of CUSA West (as TCU did when they went west & left their Texas ties behind) & every bit of that to gain a perceived advantage? Perception is reality is what Joseph P. Kennedy told his sons John F. and Robert F.
  16. Great photo find. From the Yucca yearbook I presume?
  17. Goose bumps & onions in the room I guess. (Sorry, its the Irish Tenor part of me). I love what's happening with our Alma Mater. Love it! And now the UNT College of Music has the spirit! The multi-nominated for Grammy's One O'clock Lab Band of UNT's salute to Joe Greene. GMG!
  18. And there was a shitload available online before the SMU game, too. That crowd didn't turn out so bad. GMG!
  19. . I'll say it first....Welcome to GMG.com TexHammer1983 with your 1'st post. Show up at Apogee,--you will find a ticket or 2 or 3 to use. (Read signature below). :)
  20. Will we see the Perfect Storm this Saturday in Mean Green Country? The weather won't be an excuse for those looking for one. Largest gathering of Mean Green fans most of us had ever seen in our history was our 1'st HOD Bowl game vs UNLV when there were close to 39,000 green-clad fans. From that group of 39,000 most all bought their tickets the day of the game. We haven't won enough last few decades or played the kind of schools our fans show up to watch to be nothing but a day of Game buying public. The next generation of Mean Green fans will probably see those kind of days be a thing of the past if we don't get bogged down running in place in a G5 environment next 25 years. Our constituency "potential" has impressed & amazed Seth Littrell & he might be our PIed Piper that gets the following which takes us to the next level. By the way 39,000 at that UNLV HOD Bowl Game?......................30,000 plus "9,000?" What if we have that Perfect Storm and they all showed this Saturday evening? Where do we put them? GMG!
  21. Denton Polka! "Troubling times don't get us down in Denton Town!" (Brave Combo) GET YOUR GAME FACE ON &........BEAT THE HELL OUT OF LA TECH!
  22. Wow! Just put this video on my Facebook. GMG!
  23. Lets beat the 2018 season opening SMU record crowd against those Bulldogs of La Tech! Note: Best way to get your tickets now are to click the box that indicates that UNT Tickets Office will email a link to you so you can print your tickets from that link from your home office printer, uh, right now! We've come a long ways from those public school memograph machines that Baby Boomers know so well that had that purple ink that smelled so good to being able to do order and print your tickets within minutes :) https://ev7.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/SEGetEventInfo?ticketCode=GS%3AATHLETICS%3AFB18%3AFB03%3A&linkID=unt-athletics&shopperContext=&pc=&caller=&appCode=&groupCode=&cgc=

  24. La Tech may be shocked at the day/night difference in our defense. Of course, I’m sure they’ve seen all that on film. πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘§πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘§πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘¦β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘§πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘¦β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘¦β€πŸ‘¦ A Huge Difference is.....our crowd noise will sound like there are 60,000 fans in Apogee. A couple of crowd noise timeouts by their HFC is possible. This new crowd induced ingredient will be new for La Tech in a game vs the Mean Green. LSU was a good warm up for the β€˜Dawgs on that, though.
  25. Because of Seth Littrell’s presence I think the Apogee expansion just went to the top of the list. You make money with winning NCAA football. ($1 million from the Arkansas win). The IPF was a good sign of our leadership’s seriousness about a future beyond CUSA. An Apogee expansion would prove it with schools coming to Denton we’d never dreamed would come to Denton. We just can’t make money traveling to Florida, Virginia, Etc. UH built a 40K seat stadium & knows Re-alignment is coming with maybe even some Big 12 changes. Maybe 2 or 3 openings from that conference so they are positioning for it. Our own history is to get left behind at the train stationβ€”me’thinks Wren Baker has & will continue to stop that failed modus operandi of OldDenton past. πŸ”ΊπŸ”΄πŸ”» GMG!
