  1. KRAM is passionate. I love passionate fans. FWIW...This thing initially set us all back on our heels. It is now resolved as far as I’m concerned. BEAT UTSA!
  2. Amen, Brother “KRAM!” AMEN! 1950’s: TCU cancelled us because we’d integrated with Abner & Leon. (very “Christian” of them).😡 1960’s: You kidding? Mean Joe Greene & 13 other NFL draft choices. TCU would not even return our calls. 1970’s: TCU had F.A. Dry—we had Hayden Fry (any further explanation needed why for the 3’rd decade in a row TCU would not schedule NORTH TEXAS? GMG!
  3. 🎻🎸🎹 Someone play Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus! That’s the Mason we love!
  4. ✅ I like that response, meangreen2016. Still sad to me that our favorite school still has the “BEWARE! LEPROSY!” sign on our foreheads because a school with almost 40,000 students in a huge population center with the added luxury of just over a quarter million alums within 1 hour of Apogee does not officially start looking for a way to find a better NCAA classification. ⁉️⁉️ Don’t know the timeline when Mason briefly entertained the transfer thing, but might his being drop-kicked from being in the Davey O’Brien Award final 3 after having won its first wave of voting have played some part in this? GMG!
  5. Oh yes, like being Independent killed our program in 1975 when we beat a "winning" SEC football team who would have gone to a bowl game had there been umpteen number bowls as now? OldDenton group think gets all their regressive thinking panties in a wad when the name & the success of Hayden Fry is mentioned. It's almost laughable. Notice how the only winning (and above .500 in career wins) coach at UNT in modern times still hasn't had anything named after him up in good ol' Denton Town? We honor losing records in Denton. No other school in the NCAA does. Fact still remains that 4 of Fry's 6 teams would have gone bowling with the number of bowls we have today of which most are to appease G5 schools of which one of its school has a top performing QB that just got snubbed by the Davey O'Brien selection committee. Hmmm? G5? Below are pics that represent the future of minor league sports in a major league sports market like DFW. Enjoy & relish, GreenFlakes. Below pics are La Graves Field, Fort Worth, Texas, when the revival of Minor League sports in the Metroplex bit the big one. Note: Nice tree at home plate, eh?
  6. Yellow journalism seems to live in Denton, too.
  7. Why don’t they just say this award is only for P5 conference stars? Hey! One (or two) in Dave Campbell’s Texas Football staff called Mason Fine the best gol’ darned goat ropin’ son of a gun QB in the entire Lone Star State & that’s good enough for this sodbuster! (Insert a Slim Pickens voice-over with the words of the prior sentence). GMG!
  8. Financially it probably keeps us from going down another level or moving the deck chairs around to merely be in another meaningless G5 conference. 👀 Look, I’m realistic enough to know there is no place for our favorite school at the P5 level now, but the journey of a thousand miles begins with that important 1’st step & our powers that be should not allow a school with our (amazing) constituency in the population center we are in to spend the next 30 years treading water at the G5 level. Begin a serious study now with Smatresk, the BOR’s, Wren Baker & the MegaDonors to see what other schools like Houston, Boise & BYU are going to do to get out of this non-revenue producing quagmire. Those 3 schools will not stay in the “all is hunky dory just fine” at the G5 level forever. GMG!
  9. And with that post, FFR, you win a free breakfast at the Hudson Oaks Starbucks. You can find me there wearing a TCU sweatshirt!😳 (Just kiddin’ I’ll be wearing something like this in the pic you took on your IPhone a while back).
  10. G5 says it all, EagleMBA, but be careful or you’ll confuse some of our fans with such talk. Sorry, there is no future in G5 & the Davey OBrien proves it.
  11. The last 40 years roller coaster ride with a program that rarely knew who to hire & then being slow to fire those who were part of a very mediocre program confused some of us. I’m just one who says what he feels, but for what it’s worth there are some very finicky W/L records the past 4 plus decades to back up what I’m saying about a roller coaster ride. ♦️ G5 is basically a nice “letter & number” combo for what used to be NCAA1-AA & the “We po’ but proud” mindset we developed forever. (I can count about 8 or 9 schools North Texas was once at the same level who went “BEEP! BEEP!” right past us. • Begin with schools we were once affiliated in the old Missouri Valley Conference. Easy to see that if UTSA ever gets their caca together & wins (& they will) they could be the next school to pass us by. UTSA? They have the city; the domed stadium that hosts a bowl game & in their first few years they have already hosted some pretty impressive “name” OOC games &...(again) “they have a city” that it won’t take 100 years to decide if they want to support their football program or not (like a particular one we can all relate to). Still confused?
  12. Not sure it would be possible but someone in CUSA (or the TV people) pulled it off for La Tech couple years ago & that would be a berth in the Armed Services Bowl on the TCU campus. No other school would bring as many fans as North Texas— no matter who the opponent. We also have a pretty good marquee name QB & his Mean Green teammates to market locally. GMG!
  13. A pathetic far flung conference filled with schools that will never get casual fans out to Apogee. CUSA should be 2 separate conferences. With TV revenues projected to dwindle even more, it will be forced to divide in due time because of traveling costs. Anyone else surprised that one of CUSA’s top schools in recent years (FAU) cannot draw flies for their home games & even their bowl game last year? GMG!
  14. Yes, any bold move is a scary proposition. We finally have a staff & administration in Denton who can make things happen sooner than later. Look how quickly this group makes things happen? Littrell staying & recruiting lights out the next 3 years would be good, but would not be the end of our Mean Green world if he left for a P5 school. Our curse has always been being located in a major league sports market where sports fans will not get excited about something perceived to be minor sports. Notice who we draw against & who doesn’t draw. We hit 2 milestones this season with great crowds for the SMU & La Tech games which shows what can happen when we win & all pistons are running. Years of losing & poor management has been a problem, but if a school with almost 850,000 in our favorite school’s home county; a school whose Denton main campus statisticians say has over 250,000 alums in a 5 county Metroplex & a school cloing in on 40,000 enrollment with more needed dorms on the way located in one helluva’ TV market—-anyway these are all positive things that would work in our favor if we were to actively pursue an NCAA TV-revenue producing environment. Our choice is to stay lumped in with a very large number of other G5 schools who don’t draw well agsinst each other & all with 30,000 seat stadiums & subsequently playing each other ( YAWN) in bowl games that don’t draw well or never command good TV ratings.
  15. Well, consider the state where those votes are coming from. Hell, new boxes of votes were found just last week that gave Al Gore the White House in 2000. 5...4...3...2......😇 GMG!
  16. “Mavawous!” (Billy Crystal) 👍👍 GMG!
  17. This Saturday UTSA will come out of the AlamoBowl tunnel screaming .....”REMEMBER THE DRIVE!” ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ In some games when we think all we have to do is show up is when we’ve been most unpleasantly surprised. Please......not this game.🙏🏻 GMG!
  18. 😳 Might be time for your Sicilian Cuzzin’ Guido to pay a visit to the ND athletic director, Phil. (May the ghost of Babe Ruth haunt that AD forever). GMG!
  19. And a re-do of the shower scene? 😎 Oh, heck, where’s my Lisinopril.😱 GMG!
  20. No doubt the CBS TV broadcast team are Mason Fine fans. Even the Half Time Report guys were singing the praises of Mason. More (obviously) CBS cameras were giving good shots of our Press Box side which is the best “big time” looking part of Apogee. Other cable networks (fewer?) cameras seem permanently fixed on the Apogee Student side for most of past televised games.
  21. Sunday, 5:23 AM ✅ VOTED! Mason is behind. VOTE, FOLKS! Unrelated (sorta’)......Would love to see about 40,000 green-clad Mean Green fans at the Armed Services Bowl at TCU’s Amon Carter Stadium if we got lucky enough to get that bowl invite. What an aerial photograph that would be. GMG!
  22. Saturday, 11/17 Just voted. Mason still ahead but needs a new blitzkrieg of votes. The CBS broadcasters of our FAU game & their Half Time Report guys are now all Mason Fine fans! They love his story. ✅ VOTE!
  23. IF IF’s WERE IF’s... CUSA didn’t do much for the 2012 West Division Champion IMHO. They strangely did for Southern Miss who would play Fla. State. Playing a Sun Belch school in New Orleans literally bit us in the butt. Fans can get shit faced & throw up on the streets of any USA city. Wish it had been in Shreveport vs. a more prestigious Florida State. If you are going to lose then lose to a Big Time program, not to a school in a conference that La Tech never ever wanted to be a part of. Maybe UNT should have been following the LTU model all the time because most years they have beat us in recruiting & they have several wins over P5 schools as proof plus 1 or 2 over the Crimson Tide. GMG!
