  1. Go to Hell, RedFlake.
  2. Would you know coherent if it bit you in the ass, smart ass?
  3. Still sorta’ suggests that we need about 3 consecutive years of 3 star-inundated recruiting classes to compete for a CUSA Championship, now doesn’t it? ⁉️ 2 years ago UTSA’s Frank Wilson had 17 “3 star” recruits in his haul. Were we seeing some of the results of that last night ? GMG!
  4. Wasn’t it decided by many on GMG.com after the original CUSA (basically) blended into the AAC that what was left of the present CUSA is what we are now in—a glorified SBC 2.0 with a bunch of 30,000 seat stadiums & start-ups galore?🤢 UH (who I followed closely as a fan since 1960) & before transferring to North Texas in 1972; anyhow UH has not made what I’d call a real oganized effort to get into P5 other than (1) Here we are with our new 40,000 seat stadium & (2) we beat OU at formerly Reliant Stadium so knock yourselves out now & bring us in, P5 group! (Uh, not). I think only way schools like UH, UNT, BYU & others have a prayer for P5 is to organize & request to go in as group of Indy’s who play each other every season (as Indy’s ) or as an actual conference with some top-notch corporate lawyers that threaten the NCAA, CBS, ABC, ESPN, etc.with a monopoly-breaking lawsuit. Not sure outside of doing something similar to that how any G5 school breaks into the P5 country club (closed) membership. ⁉️ QUESTION IS: What present G5 AD who wants a future as a P5 AD would lead the way in such a venture as the aforementioned? That is why Presidents & their BOR’s would have to lead this parade. GMG!
  5. Well, LongJim, I had to go ahead and post this pic once again since it was Kansas you visited and its Kansas as TCU's opponent in this Amon Carter Stadium-based photo. With 250,000 (+/-) North Texas Exes in the Metroplex we can go where our leaders will take us along with the right personnel who can get us there. Wren Baker was a good start in doing this IMHO. A Texas at Apogee game versus North Texas would need a much larger stadium. In 1976 we took 19,000 plus fans to (DKR) Memorial Stadium. It was a great time to be Mean Green and UT fans wondered "where in the hell did all these apple-color clad fans come from?"
  6. I think OL and DL are challenges in recruiting for most all schools that have the scarlett G5 stamped on our foreheads and.......asses. Blows me away that in Mason Fine's senior year our offensive line will still (apparently) be unsettled. Unless we have some JUCO offensive players lined up to enroll in December & play in the Spring game I'm not sure what to expect next Fall. The fantasy side of me wonders how Mason Fine would have performed the past 3 seasons with 2 or 3 All CUSA offensive linemen blocking for him. GMG!
  7. Good post, NorthTexasWe Love! There are some on this board who actually know their shit from their oatmeal. The ones who don't) need to graduate & go to work for the goverment where they'd most likely be comfortable or........ take a trip to Mars, Venus or the Moon because they don't really have a clue about the history of this athletic program & how our 3 steps forward---5 backwards has been the UNT modus operendi thru the decades; at least since the early 70's when I was a student. The above Saragin conference rankings I had to take a double take because............folks...........the Missouri Valley Conference was the league we were in when I first arrived as an NTSU student in the Spring of 1972. Is this progress or are we just going in circles spinning our wheels? Our Big 4 (Smatresk, BOR's, the AD & the Mega-Donors) have to find something better for this athletic program because I fear a Free Fall for most of the G5 is coming to a theatre near all of us. CUSA in its present form will only keep UNT in the NCAA aquarium as a scavenger fish. Some of you can see this and some (?).............well how is your family doing? Apogee was progress albeit we have yet to sell it out completely, but we didn't even recruit toward that "beaut" with McCarney of which he and few of his buds rarely left campus to recruit. Don't want to sound cold-hearted, but looking back he should have been re-assgned after his stroke. Thru the decades in Denton Town many fans and alums lived on the old "Damn! Look at our potential" card but some of us quit listening to that tommyrot a long time ago. The NO"s Bowl games were great for the national publicity but that SBC-sponsored bowl game didn't get Darrrel Dickey a Head Football Coach's job at a P5 school. That alone spoke volumes about the non-respect we were getting in the Sun Belt Conference & then (to add insult to injury) we go to the Big Easy last year & get our heads handed to us on a green tarnished platter. Our Big 4 leaders have to start looking for something different because a school like North Texas being in a major league sports market will die on the Group of 5 vine quicker than those schools at outposts where teams (and potential recruits) have to parachute into to get there. They have no choice because of their small constituencies & low population (non-Top 50) TV markets, but IMO North Texas will one day have a choice if it will just play its cards correctly. And the beat goes on..... GMG!
  8. Breathe in--exhale--breathe in--exhale. This time next week we will be excited to be invited to a bowl & hopefully one locally against the Baylor Bears. GMG ! (Big letters are for fellow Seniors who need them to read much more easier).
  9. We played one team this year with a winning record. We won close games that could have been losses--like tonight. Last year we won close games. We don't have the players yet who have a killer instinct. Our Quarterback(s) did not have one offensive lineman this Fall that will make 1'st or 2'nd team All CUSA. What Fine did was amazing and even more amazing is how he still has fully functional arms and legs We have to recruit better linemen on both sides of the ball because you can't win without them at any level of the NCAA. GMG!
  10. Against the worst damn offense in the NCAA? Gimmee' a break! GMG!
  11. Need 3 good recruiting classes, Seth, to compete for a CUSA Championship & be able to beat the Sun Belts best in some Toilet Bowl. You also need a new Defensive Coordinator. 3 steps forward---5 steps backward...........(again). To quote the great Scott Franklin: PATHETIC!
  12. Need a turnover to win with 2:28 to go. Is this going to be one of those "paybacks are hell" things?
  13. FAU.............24 (no bowl game) Charlotte....27 (Jonathan Cruz kicked a 56 yard field goal with seconds to go) Final Jeez, the attendance at FAU makes me think they ought to find a way to go down an NCAA division. G5 schools located in major league sports markets just don't fare well in the attendance dept. it seems. GMG!
  14. Blasphemy, NorthTexasWeLove! LOL! You can't be like many North Texas alums and fans & think much past next week, least of all where your football program is going to be in 5 years (which as you suggest may be one with "0" TV dollars and in an eventual G5 that will implode. We need our campus leaders or the ones I called the Big 4 in another thread to start looking for a brighter tomorrow for North Texas athletics. (It may turn out being a life boat). Yet.......some of our fans would be happy watching pigs play in pig slop as long as they get to sit in a comfy' stadium that was honest to goodness 25 years late in being built. We tend to be tardy with many things we do in "Do It In Denton." Take it away, Red*Flakes! PS: Hang around this for 40 plus years and you sorta' get the pulse of a school's fan's & alums mindset. Hopefully Wren Baker will be able to overcome all this. My money says after the 2 rain home games this season with no attendance he started brushing up on his resume. Hopefully not, though, he seems to have a Midas Touch in many areas that we need in Denton.
  15. Actually, my original post requested of our Big 4 leaders at UNT to please “help us find a way” out of this G5 wilderness & purgatory. They might even have to become creative Trailblazers & suggest ways others have yet to come up with to solve so large a challenge. Is there some kind of a P5 monopoly with any of this as they selfishly protect their humongous TV cash cow while they continue to get all the chicken salad leaving tbe rest of us with all the chicken shit? Yet our BIG 4 get paid the big bucks for a G5 level program to do such things & never-mind what the hell UCF does. In fact, how long has UCF been teeing it up compared to North Texas? (The answer to that does not favor our favorite school). • I obviously don’t always post things on this forum to tickle all the sheeple’s ears or to get votes as Mayor of MeanGreenville. I posted this thread because I just happen to think (& have since the 1970’s) that we still deserve better no matter who comes up with a plan to get us into a better NCAA neighborhood. GMG!
  16. Thanks for identifying yourself in your response. I appreciate that. Dead horse? 😊 I didn’ know the “get UNT to a much better athletic neighborhood” subject had become a regular staple on this forum to the level of ad nausea? Yet IMHO it’s a better “what if” subject than about a 3 dozen other “what if’s” that did become dead horses on GMG.com since this forum’s beginnings years ago. 🤔Confused? You shouldn’t be because the original post was not meant for you or anyone else on this forum but rather the Big 4 (see below). Posters on GMG.com should not think for a minute that someone doesn’t pass onto the B4 the pulse of this forum periodically because someone does. ➡️ FOR INSTANCE.....Remember how about 2,000 views in the space of about one hour on the Mason Fine potential transfer thread received a fairly quick response from campus with Mason’s well-worded explanation? Campus powers didn’t see the Mason Fine viral response looking up into the blue skies for some kind of sky-writing from a divine force.😳 The Big 4? (1) Smatresk (2) BOR’s (3) Wren Baker (4) the Mega-Bucks group who can make things happen at North Texas much quicker than where others took it decades before. It’s the Mega-Bucks group of UNT who’d probably want this program to be in a better neighborhood than 99% of the OldDenton “we po but proud” group. ⁉️ Why not be ready if there is another NCAA conference shake-up as some predict (or UT/OU leaves Big 12 scrambling up that conference) instead of our being at the train station come realignment time & the train has left without North Texas (once again)? GMG!
  17. Seth may need to haul in 2 or 3 more 3 stars-inundated recruiting classes for his resume. If he does that in Denton folks in Manhattan & similar college towns will take notice. GMG!
  18. Well, 6 of my down votes apparently are not onboard, tmjerm, but of course they could be 6 GMG.com members from other CUSA schools who want us to stay right down there with them or........6 from OldDenton who are just hunky-dory OK with what we’ve accomplished in our “100” (that’s one hundred) plus years of playing NCAA college football or just typical public university oriented bureaucrats who honest to God have to have a government who tells them when they can take a potty & then how many squares of toilet paper Big🇻🇳Brother will allow them to use.😱 Honestly, though, this (hopeful) at some point (just merely having a study) to do all possible aiming our ship toward an NCAA P5 nirvana of an existence “will not be influenced or decided” by anyone on this forum &......👀Looking at the past low goal setters among us who at times seem to dominate this same forum—-THAT IS A GOOD THING! ✅ Trailblazers rarely have fully supportive broad support until said Trailblazers accomplish their goal & then everyone was right there with them from the git-go as they proceed to “quietly” (un-noticeably) jump on the bandwagon.🙄 GMG!
  19. Just asking & don’t get your panties in a wad old timers or you who refuse to leave our vaunted past. QUESTION: Did you like that feeling you had after the Arkansas win & that video gone viral publicity after “The Fake Fair Catch?” Are we not worthy of that more than 1 or 2 times a football season or do you prefer the “We po’ but proud” mentality of most our athletic history? Then....Smartresk, BOR’s, “ In Wren We Trust” & Mega-Donors...HELP US FIND A WAY OUT OF THIS NCAA FOOTBALL WILDERNESS & PURGATORY—our continued growth will take care of our OldDenton past! ⁉️ Remember the little girl in “Field of Dreams” as the adults were frettin’ over their present situation & dilemma? She said....”THEY’LL COME.” GMG!
  20. How much will all this drama happening now compliments of the Denton Record-Chronicle Sports Editor have an effect on what has been a good recruiting class? “We have met the enemy & the enemy is us.” GMG?
  21. So let’s just start a whole new fresh round of all this “Seth Is Moving On” tommyrot, ❄️GreenFlakes. 😱
  22. • We won the CUSA West Division last year. • We beat Southern Miss. •We get an opponent from a conference we’d been trying to get out of from the first day we were in that conference & so Southern Miss gets, uh...FLORIDA STATE?
  23. “Cush” In that movie had the all time best response: ”I just want to play football.”😎 GMG! BEAT UTSA!
