A sportswriter with NDSU ties may not want to give a Texas university like UNT (who undoubtedly gets more national attention than his alma mater) any love. Some in the Southwest not too excited about the extra attention we’ve been getting lately, either. Doesn’t take too many psychology courses on your transcript to observe this. Just keep winning. ❓Houston, 9-28-19—Did the Coogs QB after his knee injury last Fall regain full speed? If so, IMHO he will be the fastest QB with skins on the wall to ever play at Apogee Stadium. Even if he lost a step he’ll still be a mover. Can’t wait for that game & is why I bought my tickets for it last Monday. I can’t see any other game in Texas that day that even the P5 folks will not avoid casting a watchful eye as UH vs North Texas. Should easily be a sellout no matter what each team’s records are. . Spoke with an area UH fan who said DFW Coog fans are already (or planning) on buying group tickets. They had about 4K (?) UH fans at Apogees debut in 2011 so our fans need to step up & buy now & buy many to keep as much 🔴⚪out of the stands as possible. ➡️ In closing, we don’t need Houston fans (& their Spirit of Houston Marching Band) make Apogee look like Gerald J. Ford Stadium at SMU will look like on September 7’th with all the sea of Green-clad fans everywhere. GMG!

Apologies to my Texas Tech friends to bring this up, but another alum reminded me the other day how Texas Tech has never won (outright ) “ANY” football conference championship since 1960–their first year to compete in the SWC.😳. That in either the (now defunct) Southwest Conference or the Big 12. They tied with several schools one year for 1’st place back in the SWC, but another school received the Cotton Bowl bid as I recall. GMG! • Their Final 4 appearance last year pretty impressive, though.

This video shows most of potential Heisman Trophy candidate Mason Fine’s passes vs. the Arkansas Razorbacks last Fall. Noticeable to me were several dropped passes of which one would have been for a Mean Green TD. ✅ Even more noticeable was one heckuva’ Mean Green win compliments of our Mean Green football team.

Can you imagine going into the Houston game at 4 & 0? Mean Green fandom at a feverish pitch?

Since we’ve had a Mason Fine Cherokee jersey & he already been on record of wanting to be part of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma even possibly in a leadership position &.......since we’ve already had the uniqueness of a post-game wrestling match at Apogee—why not honor our record-breaking QB on Senior Day (the UAB game) by working this kind of activity in the below YouTube into that last Game Day of the 2019 regular season? Bunch of Native Americans in Oklahoma & Texas who would come to this game to honor someone they (like the Mean Green Nation) are very, very proud of.

Spoke a few years ago with the creator of GMG & we agreed that LaTech was kicking our butt in recruiting when they were a member of the old WAC. Why? Maybe because they were separate from the rest of the conglomeration of schools that comprised the Sun Belt our favorite school was a part of? TCU separated itself from SMU with gaining exclusivity from them & all the other Texas schools as one reason. Seems it paid off. Of course, TCU having about a $2 billion (give or take) endowment at that time didn’t hurt, either. GMG!✅

I think a new “8 team” NCAA playoff with an easier path for any G5 school to get to a major revenue/producing bowl would do wonders for us; that is, we who at present have been relegated to the role of mostly re-arranging the deck chairs on the Good G-5 Conferences Ship Lollypop. And UNT? (1). We have to keep having winning seasons (2) Another 3 or 4 good recruiting classes as the last 2 which should create conference championships—subsequently winning bowl games & then... (3) Apogee Stadium attendance must create an eventual need for a 2’nd deck on the Student Side which would also cosmetically balance the overall look of our fabulous stadium. Then start scheduling OOC schools much like we began scheduling at the late (not so great) Fouts Field. (Heck! We even had Kansas State as s Mean Green opponent In Fout’s last season). Just my .01cent. GMG! .

My sister (from Greater Houston) attended a convention at the Denton Hotel & Convention Center & couldn’t say enough nice things about it. In fact, I met her & a cousin from Lewisville up there for a nice visit & a great meal at its restaurant. ✅ MWC......Then SMU is conference chasing after our favorite school. SMU supported La Tech over us lest anyone forgot back in the old CUSA. • CUSA is no long term solution for North Texas. • Seems TCU beat USC in the Sun Bowl as a MWC school & then a Rose Bowl? I stand to be corrected. GMG!
