  1. Well, just who is on our forum here?😳
  2. 💙❤️.....💚🖤 Most tickets will be purchased today at GJ Ford Stadium. We know how that works at Apogee except for one game this Fall on September 28. Some who show up on Game Day for the UH game to buy their tickets may experience an all time OldDenton•NewDenton new experience. (Of course, all the planets still have to align for that). GMG!
  3. A Bump so green joe will see I answered his PM. • The Green Brigade could really fly like a MG Eagle with “Green Green.” And even sing part of it a la the old 60’s song Bruce Chanel’s “Hey, Baby!” which they (& the Apogee crowd) really got into last week. GMG!
  4. I think they’ll pick another one up hitch-hiking off Mockingbird on the way to GJ Ford from their team hotel. I’ve never!😳
  5. Mason Fine reminds me of Johnny Football inasmuch that he simply knows where everyone on the field is. That is a huge plus. It can be a difference-maker. GMG!
  6. Then y’all should have built a double-decker! • Interstate frontage is not cheap. What our IPF & surrounding acreage is built on is worth multi-millions. 😁 • All banter aside—have a good game.😎
  7. So it’s on? At least the UNT IPF is large enough for grown young men to maneuver—not too ridiculously small only large enough for ‘mustang munchkins!😆 THERE! I SAID IT! 👅 PS: It’s not even finished yet—🏵 the gold-plating hasn’t even begun yet. 👑
  8. Good post! We’ve all been bashed by some SMU fans & we’ve done our share of bashing back. (Ask Gray Eagle about all that as he’s called for detente between the 2 schools for decades). I am glad both schools at whatever level of NCAA purgatory we each reside keep playing each other, though. For starters it’s a cheap date—No airline or hotel expenses. It’s an athletic budget breather for both schools. People do change, though. Check out SMU football ex DanFreibergerForHeisman on Ponyfans.com. He was one one of our fiercest critics until we beat Arkansas last Fall. He said he’d never call us “ NTSU” again & he’s stuck to it!😂 GMG! BEAT SMU!
  9. The only thing we have to fear (or...I have to fear) is........DG’s Sicilian cuzzin’, ie, the infamous 🍝 🍕 Guido. (That feller makes me a bit nervous), 🙄 GMG!
  10. Phil, I wish you’d quit beating around the bush & tell us how you really feel about all this!!🙄😆 I agree with most you’ve said, though. We have had our walk in the “no leadership” wilderness at UNT & you’ve seen it all about 10 years longer than me. GMG! PS: Am I still in good stead with your Sicilian cuz in’ Guido?🥺
  11. Just ramblin’, man... I’ve mellowed out some concerning SMU. Age they say will do such with most. I think it has with me (to an extent). • SMU? Hellsbells! As a youth I once went to an Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl game in the Astrodome & even pulled for SMU! Both DFW area school’s fans have done (since the 70’s when I was a student) way too much “my dad is bigger than your dad” along with all the socio-economic & class warfare tommyrot. (Hey! It’s a private university vs. a pubic university so isn’t that the norm most everywhere in the NCAA)? ➡️ This: SMU students & fans have yet to recover from the SWC implosion; that is, of not having UT, TAMU, TTech & Baylor coming to Dallas every other football season with all the fanfare the visitors annually brought to Dallas. All that was a luxury SMU had for a very long time & a luxury North Texas never had. It is what it is. Still, in the eyes of many on the Hilltop we are a reminder to what they no longer have; albeit we know we’re hardly chopped liver. (Didn’t we beat Texas❤️🖤Tech In Lubbock last 2 of 3 times we teed it up)? In our society today, some may spend a lifetime trying to get over huge setbacks or loss & show it in many various ways ranging from being downright childish & immature or (preferably)—merely accepting reality & the cards given them & then choosing the much more mature role of accepting to bloom where planted. The annual SMU vs North Texas shootout is just one game on each school’s football schedule. Yet maybe we of UNT should try more to understand where SMU (& UH to an extent) were during a pretty big chunk of each school’s respective NCAA football history? That is, to be in such a lofty NCAA football neighborhood & then to be suddenly forced out of it? How would any of us Mean Greeners have felt had something similar been snatched from us? (Yes, the demotion to 1-AA was tough, but not what SMU & UH had to endure). To bloom where planted really turns out to be the only choice for many non-P5 schools until the NCAA football powers-that-be loosen up their ties & come up with new opportunities for G5’s to move up. So without further ramblin’—this Saturday it’s North Texas at SMU. Can all our fans & alums put the past behind (since we can’t change it) & fans from both schools go support their players who (for their school) love & play this game that is pretty important to them in this present era so...To SMU & UNT Fans 💙❤️—💚🖤➡️ Your players this Saturday will appreciate your support more than you’d know & sitting in your seats at Gerald J. Ford Stadium will prove your support for each Mustang & Mean Green Eagle. (After all, these are 18-21 year old kids we’re talking about here & if you think about it—they’ll be the ones laying it all on the field so isn’t this really about them)? GMG!

  13. From that 1977 game North Texas cheerleaders got big laughs from Mean Green fans when Scrappy was escorted by 2 MG cheerleaders with all 3 running across the Texas Stadium football field after North Texas TD's. That was a slight poke at the SMU tradition when 2 SMU cheerleaders escort their Pony after a 'Stangs TD. That photo of our of 2 UNT cheerleaders & Scrappy is somewhere on the internet but I could not find it. Anyone else have that pic? https://meangreensports.com/news/2014/11/4/A_Look_Back_At_NT_Football_History_North_Texas_vs_SMU_1977.aspx
  14. I posted years ago the 1990 SMU at North Texas end of 1’st half bench clearing brawl which I took that scene from my DVD to my iPhone. Then NT95 reformatted it & it was on YouTube. No can find anymore.🤔 I then gave my DVD copy to someone at BTG who were going to digitalize it. Last I heard of it. BEAT SMU!
  15. 👍👍 ✅ Congrats, Jason Pirtle of Locust Grove HS, Locust Grove, Oklahoma! BEAT SMU!
  16. What TV channel, Harry? BEAT SMU!
  17. Honestly, who cares whose idea it was?🙃 Students get a good bargain out of the deal & that’s all that counts, isn’t it? BEAT SMU!
  18. DING! DING! DING! Yes, it was a Raleigh 12 speed. Best bike I ever had & I’m sure whoever stole it probably agrees!🤠 ➡️OK, Mean Green Nation! greenjoe still needs the name of his business, right? Of course, I have to recuse since I was the customer. 🍺 Here ya’ go, Joe—a song for you & yours! (And You get that beer at the U of Houston game since I have weddings to DJ this Saturday & UTSA game weekend. 😩 (Those 2 were booked even before I had a MG football schedule). https://youtu.be/Juy8j1jjV_8
  19. Mark, their rendition of “America” gave me goose bumps; or was it “God Bless America?” BEAT SMU!
  20. Ms. Fletcher, Matt from A700, told me they had another tent setup on the Student Side, too. BEAT SMU!
  21. You name the brand of 10 speed I bought from you, & you get a 🍺 on me, greenjoe; but not literally on me, of course.🙄 BEAT SMU!
  22. We all have various Apogee Game Day experiences & even expectations (& bucket list) wishes for our favorite schools athletic future. Many times that part comes from the era we attended North Texas, but most of those from whatever era are positive. Thanks for sharing you Game Day pics but—don’t stop now! BEAT SMU!
  23. SMU still has not over-come the SWC implosion while TCU bought their way into the Big 12 & one-upped the ‘Stangs by doing so.
  24. 😆 Is it listed on the NYSE, golfingomez? I would jinx it if I did! 🙄😊
  25. Like I’d bet many of you, I love a good Corny dog. Forget those HEB “store bought” fakes.🤮 Agree? Other night at Apogee a Fletcher’s employee with a Fletchers T-shirt I purposely walked up to tell her how so many Mean Green fans are so appreciative (or will be) that UNT Athletics & Fletchers was a marriage made in Heaven & that it finally happened. It just so happened that the young lady’s last name was Fletcher. She was one of the head honchos of her Denton ancestor’s famous State Fair of Texas food & icon. I told her how they would sell a bunch of ‘dogs & hopefully would become a main Apogee Stadium concession’ staple. She was quite professional & appreciative of my praise of her company’s product. At Half Time: I went to their food wagon on the stadium west side & saw a huge line of other corny dog connoisseurs of which no line would be long enough to keep them from their Corny dog. I added the lemonade to my purchase; then sat down, closed my eyes & had those State Fair of Texas memories with my now deceased parents. 💚💛Fletchers had already made a good night even greater for this 1976 UNT grad & proud alum! NOW MEAN💚GREEN—BEAT THE DOG OUT OF SMU! • This pic taken 1 hour before kick-off & before the long lines began to form.
