  1. The SMU Coach, one Forrest Gregg was the man on the Fouts Field sideline that evening for the ‘Stangs. I think many of us remember him when he played for the Packers in the famous Ice Bowl game vs the Cowboys. The man loved his school alright. He & UNT Coach Corky Nelson were probably the 2 most calm guys at Fouts after that blocked field goal.
  2. After the “empty the benches brawl” I believe that was FFR in the background twirling & running with the UNT battle flag which begs the question: • Was North Texas the very first school in the Lone Star State with the Texas flag in our school colors? In fact, was that inspired by the Paramount movie they shot on campus when FFR played the Armadillo mascot, too? .....................BEAT SMU!.................... 🤢 ➡️ D-E-F-E-N-S-E—-step up your game!
  3. After SMU beat us at Ownby Stadium (1988?) I (& many others) were so disgusted. In fact, in a shoot from the hip moment I almost took off my class ring to throw it out on the SMU football field because that game (post SMU DP) was another big missed opportunity on our part. (I kept my ring).🙄 We never take advantage of those opportunities with SMU & I mean—never! I thought last year at GJ Ford we’d get 2 wins in a row until SMU thought outside the box to garner a transfer bonanza. So much for 2 wins in a row. ••• I think most agree UNT just needs to win more against the ‘Stangs to call this a legit rivalry. Still no one on this forum has any idea how SMU president Gerald Turner & his AD even view future games. Don’t know this, but I think right now they think the game is one with potential to be a rivalry with decent gate receipts, more visiting fans (& a dandy 400+ member marching band) & little travel expense when they come to Denton. Still, in the college football world with a pecking order, some things that make cents are not always dealt with— with common sense. GMG!
  4. Methinks we are a year (or toward the last month of this season) of saying we could truly talk about winning this game. Of course, I hope to eat these words with a little tobasco thrown on top, but during this surreal pandemic football season—you never know what can happen. (Look at all the Sun Belt team’s last Saturday for example). 💚🤍🖤 GMG!
  5. SMUleopold, with much less (or no hair) he is great in the Netflix serial he stars. ➡️ Beware SMU, I now have my game face on.
  6. “They most sointely’ did, Ollie’! ❤️🖤.......BTW, Arkstfan, a hearty congratulations on yalls huge win over KSU!
  7. Won’t be there, but was there last Christmas when I drove down to see my sister in Pearland. Usually go Highway 6 but I chose I-45 this time but had forgotten downtown H-Town traffic. When I-45 downtown is moving briskly (I swear) you’d think you were inside Denton County’s Texas Motor Speedway taking a lap. Otherwise, as a youth I have such fond memories of the Bayou City. One memory toward the top of the list is that it was at Rice U where I attended my first college football game. It was Jess Neely’s Owls (with the Coach in his famous 2 piece brown suit) vs John Bridgers Baylor Bears. In a totally different era, I can never forget the light aroma of burnt pipe tobacco & cigars permeating inside 72,000 seat Rice Stadium. Some gents dressed in suits while others donned light tan Stetsons with casual western wear. (Dammit’, I miss the SWC)! I’ll stop before this goes into a manifesto mode.🙄 ❤️ Love Houston but moreso as a visitor of late. GMG! GMG!
  8. This 2005 Intro seemed to be very popular with our fans. ❇️ Then the 2009 Intro...
  9. 💫These videos just get me all excited about our favorite college football team (& its program). GMG!
  10. Per ESPN, the Big 10 powers are meeting today to see if they should start their season much earlier. GMG!
  11. Zach Kittley has great credentials alright. Wonder if he is an effective recruiter? (He’s probably on TTech’s radar, too, especially after last night). GMG!
  12. I’m not into comparing scores. I (like I know some of you) are into the “any given day” group. GMG!
  13. You are spot on (again). Arkstfan, betcha’ didn’t know UNT played a big part in the Wildcats 75 year NCAA wake up, did ya’? This video is living proof. (So painful).😩
  14. 💚🤍🖤 He went.........Adaway!💥💫☄️ ________________________________ •••The real shame is how COVID-19 will keep 30,000 plus fans out of Apogee Stadium. ➡️ Here’s to a good, clean neighborhood brawl, SMUleopol. Pick your poison.🍻or🥂! GMG!
  15. As the 1’st half was coming to an end, Adaway runs 82 yards from the A&M 18 & thru the Aggie Marching Band to score a TD! Kyle Field was silent except for about 12,000 Mean Green fans who sounded like 100,000! GMG!
  16. Would a Dale Hansen cutout count as 2 Apogee seats? 😱 (Thats OK, Hansen, most of us have had to go on starvation diets at some point to take off a few). GMG!
  17. Gimmee’ some of those legs! Used to go bull’froggin’ in Brazoria County on the Texas Gulf Coast where I’m from. RIVIT! 😊 (Yes, taste like chicken). GMG!
  18. Clever....just like their mass transfer was last year to create an instant Top 25 football program. We should copy such success.
  19. Thanks, Joe.😬 & whoops—My first sign of dementia?😳 (My dad passed with “the Big A” so I have to be wary of it). As another GMG poster said... It is the saddest of all diseases to watch them slowly disappear & then not know who you are. I’d suspect that most families have had a family member affected with that disease. GMG!
  20. And Chuck Curtis was a member of the Parker County Sheriff Possee here in Weatherford. He also coached at SMU when Fry was there. He was on the verge of turning UTA in a good direction before their administration pulled the plug.
  21. As an Independent (not a Republican or Democrat) I usually vote for the party who doesn’t seem to want to destroy America so they can rebuild it in a way that would make George Soros & Saul Alinsky so proud. I think the Founding Fathers from all the history that I took at UNT would most likely concur. 🇺🇸 In remembrance of millions who died for this flag I gracefully respect it.
  22. Funny!😆 Yet if it mean’t our Mean Green could beat their 2 teams a bit more frequently I vote we come up with a “cartoony’ nickname for Coach Littrell? GMG! PS: Put a hundred more pounds on Seth & he maintains a heavy 5 o’clock shadow & what about, uh......Bluto? 🤔 • On the record, I am a Littrell fan & hope for his & our sake he is a raging success in Denton. GMG!
  23. southsideguy, many of us were at that UTA stadium debut game & it did end with a Mean Green win. Seems what I recall most about that weekend took place the next night & that was the killing of Mean Green Star RB #23 Bernard Jackson at the Mean Green Inn pub located in the (now defunct) Carriage Square Shopping Center. So very sad.
