  1. I added 412-04 yesterday at $13 a month.
  2. RIP Mr. Battle. You were a favorite of many of us.
  3. Here ya’ go NTEX91 this is last Fall when all was normal in America. ••• And then a UH Band Day about 1967 that my HS alma mater’s band attended. I believe the Coogs hosted Lou Holtz’s NC State Wolfpack that day.
  4. I have Dish & its not on my package. I added CBSSS for a nominal price & will Fox Sports Southwest since (apparently) they will now carry several of our games. ••• Amazes me how we’ve had better teams that didn’t get this much TV coverage. 🟢 GMG!
  5. Bump. To you who might know, have all Stadium games been moved to Fox Sports Southwest? GMG!
  6. SUMG looked it up on his cable package & it said Fox Sports SW is carrying the USM game. 🚨UPDATE: A KTXD Channel 47 staff person responded to my voice mail & said they will not be carrying the USM game. GMG!
  7. Clarification? Will our game be on DFW’s Channel 47 or not? I plan on being at the game (if there is one) but I like to DVR all our games when possible. Thanks in advance to whoever answers my question.😊 GMG!
  8. From TDECU & Apogee Stadiums: “Deep in the Heart of Texas/Texas, Our Texas Medley Nice job, Bands! GMG!
  9. USM at NORTH TEXAS (1981) IT RAINED!
  10. I like both QB’s (➡️ do say the following word like the NO’s Bowl Exec.Director from the early 2000’s would say it— ”p-o-t-e-n-t-i-a-l“🤪 very much. For now Aune shows more propensity to be a field general & control the tempo. Bean will grow into what Coach Littrell & Company want with his getting more experience. (I wonder how the U of Kentucky transfer QB fits into future plans)? GMG!
  11. Pre-SMU game last week I was as guilty as anyone of drinking the green Kool-ade. Some of you knew exactly what the situation would be with so many unproven players wearing green. Yet I had our 2018 MG team at Apogee last week with a mixture of the 2014 HOD Bowl-winning defense, too. Problem was that SMU had most of its “Top 25” 2019 team back along with the UT transfer QB who was “only” this last Summer’s Dave Campbell’s Texas Football coverboy. I had a Texas Tech alum tell me post-loss: “Hey, SMU has a good football team this year as they did last year.“ So it was back to earth time for many of us dreamers. That’s OK.
  12. Surfing college football channels (& totally off subject to this thread) but... “Texas last won won Big 12 in 2009 (which is the Horns 2’nd longest conference title drought in program history).” Without Google, when did our favorite school win an out & out conference title? 🟡BEAT USM!⚫️ GMG!
  13. 🤔This surprised me......MUTS HFC Rick Stockstill is now in his 15’th year & his W/L in Murfreesboro is only .508— 91 W’s...89 L’s. UTSA? If they ever got it together with their being based in a true destination city & with a stadium that could host a 2’nd bowl game (a la New Orleans), they could eventually move out of CUSA to 1 of 2 other conferences. I think if we ‘Green’ers could swallow a little prideful dislike to their program they would make a mavawous’ travel partner; especially to 1 of those 2 conferences. I think most believe AD Wren Baker is a progressive thinker who will always want to put UNT athletics in the best light possible. This East/West conglomeration of schools called CUSA cannot last in its present make-up, but we just have to be ready to move up to better ourselves if there’s a conference implosion & not let others beat us to the draw. GMG!
  14. ✝️Jesus. He got the religion, though. Happy for him. Last I heard he was living out at former Dallas Cowboy-turned-home builder Larry Cole’s Tara Plantation in HEB (Fort Worth). GMG!
  15. 🎂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MEAN JOE! I first posted on GMG in 2013 this vintage footage of a North Texas Freshman Team playing Texas Tech’s Freshman team (the Picadors) in 1965. Joe Greene (#72 back then) is featured in some of this video. •••I’m assuming that Trooper Keeton is a Texas Tech & Lubbock local legend. GMG!
  16. Not Super Pit related but rather Coach Guy V. Lewis/UH basketball. I remember when our Danbury HS football & basketball coaches took us kids to Houston ISD’s Delmar Field House to watch the UH freshmen team composed of: Elvin Hayes, Theodus Lee, Don Chaney, Ken Spain & (I think) George Reynolds play a game. They were phenomenal. Little did we know then what we would later with those guys. Many times thru the decades I thought UH & UNT had such similarities that we might could emulate some of UH’s athletic successes & (to a degree)—we still can. •••What UH had because of their Bates Law School UNT didn’t & that was more political pull in Austin. That has improved for UNT & I think Al Hurley (albeit a nominal supporter of athletics) began that focus with his appointment of Walt Parker who spent many hours on UNT’s behalf in the Texas legislature. ••• In 1956 UH beat Baylor in football & H.R. Cullen gave UH $1 million. Later heard that UH athletics didn’t get much from that gift. ••• Fort Worth’s T. Cullen Davis was named after the Houston oilman.
  17. •Wholeheartedly agree, MDH, but...... during a world-wide pandemic UNT set a Fall, 2020, record enrollment of close to 41,000 so we can more than assume now we will actually reach the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s projected enrollment of close to 50,000 for UNT. Yet to keep up with (or close to) those we say we want to hang with athletically we need to be right in the middle of the NCAA D-1 venues arm race. Truth be told, this facility would need a Fertitta-type cash gift to get jump started. It’s still fun to dream of the bright future at UNT of which astronomical growth on & near campus makes possible. GMG!
  18. I followed UH Cougar Athletics from age 12 to age 21. Attended (with 50,000+ other fans) the *”Game of the Century” at the Astrodome featuring (then) Lew Alcindor vs. the Big E (Elvin Hayes). It is a great memory of which there were many for UH fans but—I have a North Texas degree thus I’m a Mean Green fan. (Step aside, Coogs)!😎 *Late NBC broadcaster Dick Enberg credits the UCLA-UH game in the Astrodome as the reason NCAA basketball became a national sport rather than one that had previously been regional. • UH’s 10,000 seat Hofeinz Pavilion basketball venue opened in about 1970. It has experienced a dramatic re-do & now seats a bit over 7,000. Many millions were spent to update & modernize the former Hofeinz Pavillion which is now called the Fertitta Center. Something UNT might want to consider in order to keep varsity basketball on the east side of our main campus & more accessible to UNT students. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fertitta_Center ••• See Fertitta Center videos in the next comment. GMG!
  19. A good crowd at Apogee this evening. I guess SMU players thought we were all there to watch them & just appreciated us. SMU is like UH—they recruit more faster athletes while we hope we will eventually. UH will be tougher next week & I hope they don’t “Baylor out” on us & cancel, but after tonight’s game they probably won’t. Texas State-San Marcos? Maybe at this time they have a better team than ours? Signed: Disgusted & disappointed. PS: I went over & looked (again) at the UNT Indoor Practice Facility & came away duly wowed. The whole Mean Green Village package will enhance our recruiting & hopefully that begins with a couple of goat ropin’ son of a gun pass rushers.
  20. This Fall UNT had a record enrollment of nearly 41,000 students of which many future UNT alums from this class will settle in Dallas County. •UNT probably has more than twice the number of Dallas alums than UT-Austin & TAMU, combined so...maybe we should start a new campaign of our favorite alma mater being called: 💚DALLAS COUNTY’S TEAM! 🙃 ”Just win, baby!” (Al Davis) GMG!
  21. Kudos to Wren Baker & the UNT Athletic Dept. for allowing any UNT student into Apogee Stadium for the SMU game. Obviously other schools are doing the same. GOOD NEWS! On another front, I heard on ESPN that “not one player” from the Texans/Chief’s game had tested positive for COVID-19. We will overcome this killer, folks. • My late father’s mother & daddy died one day apart of the 1918 Spanish flu epidemic near Mexia/Groesbeck. The youngest of 10 kids, daddy was only 15 mos. old when they passed.
  22. I’m not sure after the HBU game that Siggers is fully rehabilitated—yet. SMU fans were highly complimentary of him last year on PonyFans.com SATURDAY? HE WENT—-ADAWAY! 🌪 🌪 🌪 🟢⚪️⚫️UNT...38 🔴⚪️🔵SMU...37
  23. 1975 was my favorite schedule back during the flying 🐛 worm era. It was my Junior year. Hayden Fry’s 1975 team could have won a bowl game if we’d been invited. There were so few bowls back in ‘75 as compared today, though. 🟢⚪️⚫️ I expect this Saturday at fabulous Apogee Stadium to see the worm back where it belongs—in the win column. (I do like the SOW, logo, though). BEAT THOSE ‘STANGS, MEAN GREEN!
  24. Some funny stories some of us could tell about Richard Scarborough Spears. For instance, Rick & I once went to a Baylor-TCU game at ACS & he had had one too many. We stood up after one play & I spilt his (JD & coke) drink on him. The expression on his face was priceless!😆 For years he joked about that. Post-TCU/Baylor game we go to the parking lot —get in his car & found ourselves in a terrific traffic jam so....he told me to take the wheel (which I did) & he gets out of his car & proceeded to direct traffic!🤠 I’m surprised we both didn’t get pulled over by the TCU police. I miss him. RIP, Rick. PS: Rick Spears spent the last 25 years of his life alcohol free.👍👍
