Their commercial won a Cleo (like an Oscar) & remains one of the most popular commercials in the annals of Television. 🗣”Thanks, Mean Joe & Coca Cola Kid!” Joe Greene’s statue is located on Apogee Stadium’s west side. In a ceremony attended by a couple of thousand fans the statue was unveiled on September 29, 2018. • Honoring Joe were numerous NFL celebrities & teammates from the 1968 North Texas Mean Green team. Celebrities included Abner Haynes, Earl Campbell, Franco Harris, Charles Hailey, Tony Dorsett, Chuck Beatty, Walt Garrison & others.

Heard an hour ago from a fellow alum that Myrtle Beach is a great destination. (I’d wager that he entertained there back in the day). He said MB is like a Branson, Missouri, entertainment place. ☘️We got lucky with this Myrtle Beach Bowl selection because it sure beats Frisco or having to stay in the DFW area for a bowl game this time around. •••Nothing personal to the great citizens of Frisco, Texas. Trust me, this forum has never been responsible for hiring or firing anyone. The firing demands part only makes you eventually feel bad about yourself (not all of you, of course); & that theme is usually a bridge to nowhere. Paid staff will hire or fire—maybe we should trust them? Seth being at UNT inspired one family who knew the Littrell family of Oklahoma to give big bucks & get the Indoor Practice Facility jump-started. •••Littrell will sign an Oklahoma kid this Wednesday of which one website says his family is worth $55,000,000. (There are no expectation for them to give a dime, but I bet they do). Seth Littrell’s presence at UNT has been a positive. Bet he wants his career W/L in Mean Green Country to equally be a positive, too. Yes, Seth needs to get our Defense in shape for next season & his recruiting class next Wednesday indicates he’s working on it. So the best we can do is what greenjoe used to put at the end of his posts in years’ past, especially during football season. Most of us like UNT’s future as to be a successful NCAA FBS football program. With our astounding campus growth now at 41,000, Denton & Denton County‘ burgeoning growth & with (is it now) close to 300,000 North Texas Exes in the northern Texas Metroplex; anyway, we have that huge reservoir in which to draw new fans at fabulous Apogee Stadium & I bet we do. After graduation many UNT alums talk about moving back to Denton-Texas-America some day. Whether we get to or not, there are so many reasons that inspire us to want to come back and—“Do It In Denton!”
