  1. Renderings stolen from NTSN on Twitter😊 How would a western sunset affect the batter’s vision if placed in the direction UNT planners have the stadium placed? “Bez’ball has been veddy’ good to me.” Garrett Morris (SNL) 🦅❇️🦅GMG!
  2. UNT’s One O’Clock Jazz Band providing the music. 🦅This version debuted in 2019 at Apogee Stadium on the day of the unveiling of Mean Joe Greene’s statue. Question: Can this redo be used at Apogee or are there copyright issues? https://www.facebook.com/theoneoclock/videos/748416272167161/?vh=e 🦅❇️🦅 GMG!

  3. We seem to have a few on GMG who apparently have missed their calling as an NCAA FBS level Athletic Director or Administrator. In fact, Guv’nuh Abbott should maybe choose the next UNT Regent from, (trumpet fanfare)......🎺🎺🎺GoMeanGreen? I myself fully admit to being a Monday Morning QB who will mostly stick with buying tickets to Mean Green football games. 🙄 🦅❇️🦅
  4. Enjoyed being at the game today with several. alums. GMG!
  5. Not worried about Fall, 2021. Back in the 2000’s (& 4 bowls in a row), UNT most always started those seasons with 1-2 wins but would finish with 6 wins minimum. ➡️ Check out our 2021 schedule—with what will most likely be CUSA’s #1 offense, who out there sees 6 wins as impossible; especially with a Phil Bennett-coached “D” which one might agree could easily adopt a “take no prisoners” attitude starting with Spring football. Hell yeah! Take none! Hey folks, It’s CUSA we’re in—not the PAC -12. I’ll provide the crow & won’t back down from eating it if have to but gut feeling says I won’t. 🦅❇️🦅
  6. Reginald Lewis, North Texas Mean Green Defensive End from the Hayden Fry era was drafted in the 3’rd round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Silly question, but Is Lewis in the North Texas Athletic Hall of Fame? Surely he is. https://www.bucpower.com/reggie-lewis.html 🔴GO KC CHIEFS!🟡
  7. Hey! They’re 17 & 18 year olds our coaches are dealing with & sometimes It’s one word that best describes their decision-making process as in... 🦅❇️🦅
  8. Anyone else remember when the late, great Ron Shanklin did color commentary with Bill Mercer? I thought he did a good job.
  9. Jaelon Darden deserves the best. He has the speed to break for NFL touchdowns. More important, he is a good role model for others to emulate. I really hope his hometown Houston Texans draft him high. Good luck, Mr. Darden. 🦅❇️🦅
  10. It is my understanding Fletcher’s will be back at Apogee Stadium when normalcy is back. This pic was taken about 1 hour before kick-off. Trust me-it gets much longer during the game.
  11. All transfers at TSU-San Marcos? So win quick—get out of San Marcos quicker? 🦅❇️🦅
  12. That play did get our favorite school just a “little publicity,” now didn’t it greenjoe?😊 Matter of fact, someone on campus came up with monetary amount of publicity we got for free. Anyway...My Favorite MG Football Videos: (1) Fake Fair Catch (2) “The Stand” vs Rice U & (3) “The Drive” vs UTSA 🥶(4) Any video where we beat SMU (since Vito reminds us as many times as he possibly can how lopsided that series has been since it began (that fateful year of Custers Last Stand when the game was probably first played—& at Ownby Stadium to boot)? ••• My Least Favorite Video? 🤢 Easy...UNT vs UT-Austin & watching the home-cooking of a way over-exuberant Southwest Conference referee in 1988 when the Mean Green got screwed out of a last minute win at DKR Memorial Stadium. Unless you forgot it, here ‘tis again— “uh oh, uh ohhhh“ (such a priceless subliminal “UNT got screwed” comment from the UT TV broadcaster). “Yes, Mr. UT Broadcaster, his foot came down alright—5 FREAKIN’ YARDS OUT OF BOUNDS!”😆 🦅❇️🦅
  13. Whoever starts will have a good offensive line in front of them. Congrats Coach Littrell & Company! 🦅❇️🦅 GO...MEAN...GREEN !
  14. Manifesto #55 To untjim1995 & others just as concerned as we’ve all been at some point: As age 70 literally crept up on me a small hint from my past UNT experience: I spent way too much time in the past being frustrated & negative. I thought: “Good Lord, has there ever been an NCAA FBS school which has so under-performed as much as ours?” (Maybe only Kansas State pre-Bill Snyder)? At UNT, we had seen so many schools we were once at a similar level (even in the same conference) go “beep-beep” right past us. ••• Most of our concerns we have today we were addressing 25 or so years ago but.....right now we have all the leadership pieces of our puzzle in place & that (probably) for the first time in our history. Seth will do the job or he’ll move onto a (similar) high paying job as an Offensive Coordinator at Big Time U. He won’t be lacking for job offers. I think, though, we really need him to succeed at North Texas. Yes, we can keep playing “change the head football coach again” roulette or we can stick with him. Some said give him 3 good recruiting classes in a row then see what he does. Well, he now has that, but my gut feeling says Seth Littrell is going to make this happen in good ol’ Denton, Texas, America. 🦅❇️🦅
  15. TarHeel, thanks for that detailed explanation. I had no idea that football camps played a part in all this but it only makes sense. Yall have a great 2021 season up there in Tar Heel Country.
  16. This novice’s photo-journalistic contribution to UNT, Bill Mercer & his (then) UNT student one Craig Eay. Mr.Way has been the “Voice of the Texas Longhorns” for years. (Also Texas High School football shows in past years). •••I took this photo of Mercer & UNT student Craig Way at the 1985 UNT Homecoming game at old Fouts Field. ••• What it was is that I had won a Dallas MG Club silent auction bid to be in the press box for the first half of that game. It was quite the experience to say the least. (Those guys work hard. 🦅❇️🦅
  17. What a legacy Mr. Mercer is. (He’s now retired & in his 90’s). GO MEAN GREEN!
  18. I wish there was film (converted to YouTube video) of Abner Haynes when he was at North Texas. That would be so cool. Some of you, uh, oldtimers🙄have told me he was something special. •••Back in the 70’s I was listening to KRLD1080 on their Sports Central Show with Al Wisk who one evening had Abner on his show. A caller called in who had seen Abner play in the 1959 Sun Bowl. He went on & on with “Father Time” (as Shank called #28) about how he’d never seen such speed & elusiveness. You could just see Abner blushing thru the radio with his (always) humility. Gosh I hope he gets a statue before he passes. 🦅❇️🦅
  19. If anyone in the administration reads GMG which I highly doubt they would. I can’t see Smatresk camped out at GMG. Nothing wrong with opinions, it’s just the constant badgering with the same old themes by the same posters that get old. As many on this forum who are admirably astute about the UNT athletic program the school still hires those whose job it is to hire & fire. I think that group would mostly like fandom to show up on Game Day to show its approval (or disapproval) of their work. Just my .02.
  20. Seth will be gone only if the power-brokers who give the big bucks want him to be gone. No one else will make that decision, least of all anyone on this forum. We give opinions on GMG & have forever but I’ve never heard anything about this forum ever changing the direction of this athletic program. ••• Personally, I think with top shelf venues in the G5 with almost 7 million Metroplex population living an hour (give/take) from Apogee, the (still timeless) Super Pit & the burgeoning Mean Green Village how can anyone not be excited about our school’s future? Most on GMG are excited from what I read (& I read most everyone’s posts). Anyhow, I think SL will start a 5 year (minimum) run of success with some Top 25 teams & some bowl wins. I’d think that’s what he wants, too.
  21. Some of ex conference mate Boise State’s best teams came from annual classes not that highly ranked. Yet the most impressive thing to me about the Broncos Is how after losing several head football coaches how they still stayed in Top 25 rankings. Amazing. 🦅❇️🦅
  22. Not a fan of the Wing myself, but Apogee accoustics are fine. Remember in the stadium’s debut game when UH Coach Kevin Sumlin had to take 2 “too noisy” timeouts? He even commented about it in the papers as I recall.
