BillySee58, how is this guy just a walk/on? His video is most impressive. ❇️🦅❇️

Hey greenjoe, with UT going to demolish their 16K Super Drum & build a new arena that seats 10,000; well, I suppose that means UNT & UT will now have the same basketball arena seating capacity? Whodathunk that would ever happen?🤔 Bells & whistles for UT’s venue being the main difference, of course. ❇️🦅❇️

1977: SMU at NORTH TEXAS, Super Pit (10,000 capacity) I heard the Denton Fire Marshall (Hagerman)? was not pleased with 700 extra fans in the SP that night, CMJ. •••During the Pre-game “AD” Hayden Fry was out on the court perimeter ordering the taking down of (disparaging to the Pony’s) banners. ••• I remember an SMU fraternity was hunkered down together in the upper section steps. 🗣🗣🗣 “WELCOME TO THE PIT!”🤠 ❇️🦅❇️

I vacillate on what our favorite school should do with the BB venue. Sorta’ lean toward a significant upscale (luxury suites, etc.) of the Super Pit, though. That place amazes me to this day for how modern it has stayed thru all the decades. Jeez-Louise, I was 21 years old the night the SP made its debut. Court side: I know I’ll be in the minority (again), but I like the court to be less busy with more white space—somewhat like TCU’s, but to change it now could be bad luck?🧐 🦅

On A Sad Note... I saw in the cardboard cutouts in the 1’st half of Gonzaga/UCLA a cutout of Billy Tubbs which Jim Nantz (?) said he & other coaches had passed in the last year or so. ••• I took a Basketball Coaching class taught by Billy Tubbs as an elective. He was a Bill Blakely assistant at UNT. I took his class because I thought he was a cool dude & he was so doggone funny. His class was a blast for all of us who spent a semester with him. RIP, Coach Billy Tubbs. ❇️🦅❇️

...assuming we add March Madness as an annual event in Mean Green Country? And yes, the ageless Super Pit needs some tweaking alright, but besides luxury suites what else is there that doesn’t cause us to burn the barn down to kill a mouse (as in gate receipts—a wonderful source of revenue they say). ▶️•••Check below link of the 2019 (pre-pandemic) average attendance of NCAA P-5 & G-5 basketball schools. Not many of them will be trying to figure out how to lose 30% of their present seating capacity. ▶️ New venues are nice, wonderful & all that, but will a smaller one really project our future growth (across the board) or are we going to stay stuck in our basketball past while basing everything on that? Or.....is all this college basketball campus venue capacity-shrinking just another keeping up with some of the Joneses cycle happening in parts of the Southwest?🤭 https://247sports.com/LongFormArticle/college-basketball-attendance-leaders-Syracuse-Orange-Kentucky-Wildcats-North-Carolina-Tar-Heels-134006883/#134006883_1 ❇️🦅❇️

Maybe Coach Mac should look toward the land of the tumbling tumbleweed attack to see what kind of buzz saw he could find himself getting into. Hell! Look who just left Lubbock behind? Was it the tumbleweed? Even some of you said here years ago the better black athletes would see Lubbock as just too damn redneck. They have RedMan tobacky shortages in that town for heaven’s sake & Biden is going to tax what’s left into oblivion They may have to all switch over to Garrett’s Snuff.🤢 ••• I think Coach Mac should be told $2 million a year can be possible even at UNT, but not this upcoming school or fiscal year. Build it & give it time—you’ll be glad you did, Coach. YET———WHY GO TO LUBBOCK TO FIGHT FORT WORTH OVER WHOSE B-12 ENTRY WOULD FIGHT TO FINISH IN THE MIDDLE OF SAID CONFERENCE ALMOST ANNUALLY? OH! I’M SORRY! WE ARE TALKING BASKETBALL HERE— AREN’T WE? 🚨A WARNING TO COACH MAC! ⚠️ DANGER ZONE! ⚠️ BEWARE OF THE ATTACK OF THE TUMBLEWEED! (It’s just not worth it). Stay safe & stay in the jazziest city in the 7 million populated North Texas Metroplex. GMG!

Texas Tech brother in law claiming
PlummMeanGreen replied to Tom McKrackin's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Notice how when good things happen at North Texas how freakin’ fatalistic we become? Maybe we don’t deserve more at North Texas. We seem to will that we never do better. When Bill Yeoman & Guy Lewis started their run of success at UH I can’t ever remember similar attitudes in Coog Country & now look at them 50 years later? I think Coach Mac will not be a 1 hit wonder in Denton. I just don’t. It just doesn’t seem to be about America’s 2 gods with him; that is, M-O-N-E-Y & P-O-W-E-R. (Glad our national politicians aren’t that way).🙄🤬 ❇️🦅❇️ Still Green After All These Years In Spite of Us. A Tip: Want to be personna non grata among your own? DRC: Hamlet declares for draft

Ray Braswell standing beside him?

"Everyone lives within 45 minutes of the Super Pit," McCasland said. "We always wanted it to be about family. Our players' and coaches' families are part of it." (Vito blurb from DRC). To my knowledge, no UNT HBC has ever had the BOR’s, the President & AD all on the same page as Coach McCasland. I hope this happy marriage continues & I think it will. He needs to be the highest paid coach in CUSA.

Grant McCasland Live on CBS 11 Tonight at 10:45pm
PlummMeanGreen replied to ScrappyD's topic in Mean Green Basketball
In this world of “fool me once shame on you—fool me twice shame on me” I could still be wrong about Coach Mac, but he just doesn’t sound like a man looking to change jobs. He now has other family members living in or near Denton. His kids go to Liberty Christian School & as I’m sure all the MacCasland Scottish clan have found out—Denton just ain’t a bad place to call home. Now big money could change all that in a New York minute, but I don’t think it will. Coach’s family is more important than big money is my take on him & from all I know of his background it’s easy to come up with that profile. All in all, Grant just seems to be someone who sees an opportunity to build something special in Denton-Texas-America. It appears UNT’s Administration & support staff want to help him do just that. Maybe all this is just more wishful thinking on my part, but with UNT Coach Grant McCasland I don’t think it is. -
Rochelle Lee of WBB has Entered the Transfer Portal
PlummMeanGreen replied to Venson's topic in Mean Green Basketball
70% in NCAA FBS football who apply for the portal are left waiting at the alter. Wonder what it will be for men’s & women’s basketball that will end up being no more than a lateral move or less? NCAA Presidents need to raise holy hell with the Rules Committee over all this. It’s disruptive as hell & it does not promote loyalty to the schools who originally signed the student-athletes. This has the smell of P5 all over it. ❇️🦅❇️GMG! -
Encouraging words from most all of you who were there. Our “D” got better the second Phil Bennett signed his contract as Defensive Coordinator.
-
This portal transfer crap is going to turn G5 into something tantamount to the old MLB farm team system. Anyone don’t think there will be some P5’s recruiting these kids? The whole thing sucks

What I meant’t by significant the other day was kicking him up now to $1-1.5 million with incentives. •••Tell Grant a UNT Sweet 16 & then let’s talk long range $tability. ••• Maybe even tuition for his kids at Liberty Christian School (where they are enrolled now). ••• $2 million buyout. ❇️🦅❇️GMG!

Top candidates for Texas job
PlummMeanGreen replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Neither do I (& hope he doesn’t leave us now)) but if he did it’s easy to see the applicants who’d want the UNT basketball job will be impressive as ever. (Stay, Grant—we don’t want to be looking now).😫 -
😆Are you Coach Mac’s agent you seem so concerned about his future— away from Denton.
-
From all I hear it really wouldn’t be money that would cause Coach Mac to leave Denton. I think he knows significantly more money will come if he stays in Denton. I think quality of family life & not having to Coach under a constant “win or else” attitude from administration, staff & alums (like he’d have in Norman & elsewhere) would come into play. “IF” Coach Mac were to leave I would not worry about Wren Baker screw-in’ up his replacement hire. Like many of you, I feel good about UNT’s future at the next level in a tournament sort of way. In fact, North Texas athletics across the board is fixin’ to explode (& that mean’t in a positive way, of course). Negative Neds may have to go somewhere else to be, uh, negative? 🤢
