Just confirmed with another alum to make sure, but Seth’s parents of Oklahoma & the Lovelace family of Denton were longtime friends. As I also recall it was Lovelace who used his Leer(?) to fly out to North Carolina to bring SL to Denton for his first news conference as new UNT coach. Lovelace made the initial financial commitment for the new IPF. McNatts followed suit. I know the MG Nation are beyond glad that both families were that gracious. ❇️🦅❇️ GMG!

TAKE SOMINEX TONIGHT OR READ THIS EPISTLE... My gut feeling tells me the pendulum is fixen’ to swing back in the direction of North Texas as far as La Tech is concerned. •••The pics below of which so many Texas HS coaches & future recruits have yet to see these venues in person are just a few reasons why. For whatever reason, Skip Holtz has not been seriously considered for P5 job openings enough as to hire him. Lucky for the Ruston school inasmuch that it gives the “appearance” to recruits that the LaTech HFC had (all the time) unpacked all his suitcases years ago with intentions to stay awhile. That unexpected continuity from a winning G5 Coach has undoubtedly helped the Bulldog’s recruiting. No other job offers for Holtz most definitely has had its percs for LTU. Say what you will, but that Big 12 job offer to Seth Littrell cost us. (Reliable media say it was the demands by KSU’s Bill Snyder that Seth keep his son on as a Wildcat assistant coach which subsequently became a deal-ender for our HFC. I honestly believe that the “almost” hire of SL by KSU ended up costing North Texas 2 “AAC & UH-type” recruiting classes plus I believe it created the lack of a full focus for our football program. 🦅 OK, like many of you, I‘m a Seth Littrell supporter. We all need to be for the greater good of all things Mean Green. SL ain’t going anywhere because a fan forum wills that he do. Yet I believe Seth’s Oklahoma connections helped build for UNT a fabulous Indoor Practice Facility in record time. (Remember back in the day when we used to talk about doing that kind of thing for about 10 years before dirt would even be turned)?

As composed by songwriter the late Townes Van Zandt & composed just outside the Denton city limits. Funny story how he ended up in Denton because of, uh, Billy Graham of which he & Roger Staubach we’re featured speakers at a week long Campus Crusade For Christ events that had about 100,000 USA college students enrolled here in the North Texas Metroplex. ••• SUMG first made me aware of this story years ago. ••• The YouTube video starring Willie & Merle is very popular. Townes Van Zandt is also in this video sitting at a table in a bar. https://texashillcountry.com/true-story-behind-pancho-and-lefty/

If FFR doesn’t “don the ‘Dillo” I’m not buying the fellow Weatherford’ite another Carmel Machioto at Starbucks!🙄😊 .••• This is FFR & Son at the Mean Joe Greene statue unveiling ceremony. Wow! What a day that was, eh? -
Great video find, Silver”Bill”Eagle. 👍👍 I thoroughly enjoyed it & it gives us all a good background for the movie when it comes out soon. (Obviously, the Pythian Home in Weatherford will serve as the FW Masonic home in the movie). FW’s Farrington Field (across from Casa Manana) will be a natural for the football game setting. •••UNT alum Dr. James Stewart was superintendent of Fort Worth’s Masonic School for years. A nice feller he was. •••The Bell Tower chapel at the FW Mason’s property is beautiful. I’ve DJ’d a couple of weddings there back in the day. *Here’s a couple of pics. GMG!❇️🦅❇️

In the movie poster the building in the background is the Pythian Home which is located off Bankhead Highway in Weatherford. I’ve DJ’d a couple of charity events there & talk about your basic spooky place. Staff at the Pythian have told me in past years that it’s haunted.😳 🍿A pretty decent all star cast including Robert Duvall, Martin Sheen, Luke Wilson & others. 🍿Movie inspired from former Dallas sportswriterJim Dent’s book of the same name. 🍿Like the many on GMG who appear to be movie buffs I look forward to seeing this movie.

greenjoe, I’m guessing “0AHU E“ may not be UNT-affiliated at all. Out of about 15,000 registered on Harry’s GMG forum many are non-UNT fans. When any UNT Ex &/or Mean Green fan gets a red downvote on a post that’s very UNT positive, might it be many times that downvote would be from one of those non-UNT’ers? ❇️🦅❇️ J. Darden? He will play in the NFL no matter if he gets drafted or not. His speed & elusiveness will clinch that. ❓🤔To you draft gurus: How would an NFL contract from a last round NFL draftee compare to a top non-drafted free agent and— what has been the signing bonuses for top free agents from past NFL drafts? 🦅❇️🦅 GMG

Yes, greenjoe, that is her fiancé who took a knee at the AAC & made the proposal. And yes, the UNT Fight Song was played, too. Love it! As impressive to me was that KTCK “The Ticket’s” Corby Robertson (apparently) was given this project & he ran with it. I believe that is Corby on the PA doing the announcements & so forth. ••• Then this weekend the Mean Green Women’s Softball team swept the USM Golden Eagles in a double header for their “8’th” CUSA win in a row!😳 Now— Let me take an extra💚Lisinopryl! (It’s hell getting old).🧔🏼 ❇️🦅❇️ GMG!

All Not Really Lost, Is It?.......Aren’t P5 schools who finish 5’th or 6’th (like a B12🐸TCU most years) in their 10-12 team P5 conferences; anyhow, aren’t they going to pretty well have similar level of bowls as G5 schools who win or finish 2’nd in their respective G5 conferences? If so, sounds like a G5 recruiting selling point because look who we recruit against among P5 schools in Texas, Oklahoma & beyond? ❇️🦅❇️

••• Not picking on any one player who are merely acting on what the NCAA rules committee put in front of them as a choice, but still... “Loyalty to the end?” Is that what the NCAA rules committee boys had in mind with all this? Hardly not. This new rule is tantamount to one being married to his 1’st love then the husband (out of the blue) tells his wife after 3-4 years, “Honey bunny, thanks for everything, but I think I’m going to move on now—I found somebody who appears to be more glamorous, so I’ll just go now—🤔Golly gee! Hope this works out for, uh, “me.” ••• Don’t these kids have enough on their plates already for the NCAA think tank & rules committee to put more on on it like this destructive rule? ••• I know America is in a self-destruct mode of late, but can the NCAA bureaucrats in Indianapolis just leave the toy section of all our department store of life freakin’ alone? DAMN YOU, ROGER!😱(Scratch Roger & insert)▶️ 🗣DAMN YOU NCAA EGGHEADS RUNNING THE RULES COMMITTEE. ❇️🦅❇️

Saw UNT’s Hope Trautwein on ABC (National) News & ABC Channel 8 Sports yesterday—3 days after her record-breaking Sunday afternoon. The Channel 8 weatherman seemed miffed that UNT was getting all this air time with his “does everything revolve around UNT” comment. (Wonder where he went to schoo)?🤔 Nevertheless—❇️👍❇️ GOMEANGREEN!

I’m sorry, but the Portal must go unless the NCAA wants to create more recruiting scandals when schools start meeting secretly with stars from other schools & then start cherry-picking from said schools, specifically G5 schools. It was an NCAA bureaucrat’s ill conceived idea that doesn’t teach loyalty to recruits original school in any form or fashion. If NCAA bureaucrats want to screw up a good thing let them go to Washington where they can do that all day long with we the taxpayer’s money. GMG!
