I saw the unveiling “live”on Zoom. Those unis are sharp! A Foundation helped the UNT-COM buy almost 560 new unis. (Amazing how Velcro will make them to be so versatile). I hope this link below will get you there—if not I’ll find another. Best looking Green Brigade uniform I‘ve seen in almost 50 years. (SilverEagle, what do ya’ think)? https://untalumni.com/alumni-live-green-brigade-uniforms/ 🟩UPDATE FROM THE UNT COLLEGE OF MUSIC••• If you were unable to attend our live reveal tonight, we will be releasing a full video detailing the new uniforms tomorrow on all platforms!! ❇️🦅❇️

Athlon projects the best of the C-USA for 2021
PlummMeanGreen replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Football
Since we’ve added probable portal & transfer starters in recent weeks (& even days), I’d wonder how many summer college football magazines would have that vital information since you get the feeling even in past years some of them use the prior seasons Summer editions & from those the writers figure out who graduated & then take it from there—not very scientific I’d say, especially with G5 football programs. IMO, we are really not going to know how good this 2021 MG team could be until about the 3’rd or 4’th game is my take so—outside DCTF & Phil Steele’s 2021 Summer magazine coming out in just weeks, other Summer college football magazines I will take with the grain of salt. Some writers may not know of the Phil Bennett influence on the 2021 MG defense & how he has played a big part in recruiting defensive talent. Still most on GMG seem to feel PB is going to make a difference. I know I do—& I think a big difference. •••I also believe the 2022 North Texas football team is going to be a lights out football team. FWIW, folks, we haven’t been recruiting junk plus we’ve been recruiting more talent on the defensive side since the arrival of Phil Bennett.😊 Just my .02 cents. ❇️🦅❇️- 7 replies

Just Speculating..: Lberty U has done in a few years what others have yet to do. OK, UNT will mostly stay where its been for the next 50 years, but always have a plan B? You know, gotta’ keep those all important “money-making”(not) All Conference team opportunities in tact but—if we ever want to venture out to join the bold & the brave, the option is to remove ourselves from all this hodge-podge & over-abundance of FBS schools with 30,000 (+/-) seat stadiums, expand Apogee to 45,000 seats & join the exclusivity of being Major Independent. ((Those Sams Club margaritas do expand the horizons of thought).😊 https://tvrev.com/college-football-independence-and-how-conference-less-teams-can-stay-on-tv/amp/

This video of Jaelon Darden highlights compiled by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers video crew, post-NFL draft. -
BTW, whose that #2 feller in MeanGreen chunking Jaelon Darden many of his passes? Is that #2 wearing the green the same guy who is getting the same treatment from some forum board members who even treated Mason Fine as if he were chopped liver 4 years ago (& that he would not be a good college QB)? (Who owns the UNT record book)? Be reminded that when the Mean🟩Green tee it up against the SMU 🔻🔹Mustangs at Ford Stadium this September that UNT’s #2 will be the most experienced QB on the football field that evening. ❇️🦅❇️

And many more... Jim Hobdy has given more volunteer time (with free banners, posters, flyers, etc) than anyone in the Mean Green Nation. Jim was UNT Athletic Promotions Director on a shoestring budget & was still able to get admirable results; and those were happening when winning records were hardly plentiful. Congrats on another birthday, JH!👌

Can’t future schedules be manipulated to do anything you want them to do? I believe the pendulum for being competitive outside CUSA is going our direction; especially when this present group gets the 2021 season of experience under their belt. In our history I don’t think North Texas has ever recruited as many who had as much P5 interests & I believe a very deserving UNT constituency will be the beneficiaries. Of course, there are reasons for more P5 recruits interest & here are 2 of them.

“The Drive” is still my favorite all time Mean Green Moment(s). My old NTSU roommate & I were in the north end zone exit area when #6 hit #34 with the Hail Mary sideline pass which created a roar of the crowd. Didn’t take us long to get back inside the end zone seating area where we could watch Mason Fine, Rico Bussey, Jr. & the Mean Green finish the deal. It was glorious inside Apogee Stadium after that. Never seen so many happy people. We’d all just witnessed a MG miracle. ❇️ ❇️🦅❇️

Here is a video of the 1’st touchdown ever at fabulous Apogee Stadium vs the Houston Cougars. It was a glorious moment for we older geezers who pert’ near lost our eyesights👀watching games at venerable Fouts Field for decades. 🟥UH Coach Kevin Sumlin had to call 2 timeouts due to crowd noise.

Tampering - Who saw this coming
PlummMeanGreen replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Was talking to SUMG about this going to happen. I guess the NCAA policing unit now have a new reason to exist. The NCAA runs some things like the present day personal freedoms-destroying bureaucracy, but at least I don’t think in Indianapolis they’re stashing their cookie jars with extra$. -
Why is it hard to get them to Denton? Maybe it’s because we haven’t asked them to come to Denton? At Fouts Field we had Oregon State, Vanderbilt, Florida State, #19 ranked San Diego State & others.

This was the 1967 Band Day at UH. Hey CougarRed or any Coog enthusiast, does UH still have this promotion?

It’s not UL that’s been our problem. Its the Little Red & Blue Train Who Could that’s been our problem. I said years ago we should hire their recruiting coordinator. (Cricket sounds was the response to that).😊

Great interview! The great Darius Terrill not a big fan of UT recruiting practices. I wasn’t either when I read Gary Shaw’s NY Times best-seller “Meat On the Hoof” many years ago. I am a fan of UNT’s recruiting😊 because I think this year with all our venues nicely in place for all to see will be a game-changer for years to come. Just a gut feeling. ❇️🦅❇️

“P-E-R-C-E-P-T-I-O-N—is—everything.” (Joseph P. Kennedy) ••• Just an opinion, but seems to me Texas-State (San Marcos) hasbeen working hard to build their perception as the new Texas intercollegiate music giant for over a couple of decades. They’ve quietly been trying to “out North Texas” UNT with their proactiveness in music. (see link below) 🟩⬛️ NORTH TEXAS vs TSU (SM) 🟥🟨 🤔Well, TSU-SM had Ralph the Swimming Pig as a tourist attraction back in the day so chock one up for LBJ’s alma mater. •••Seriously, though, not sure how our Endowment coffers compare to TSU-SM now, but about 15 or so years ago they had passed us in total research donations. They also edged us in total enrollment about that same time, but I think we may be ahead again (as we should be vs the San Marcos school in both enrollment & endowment coffers). Yet seems to me TxSt-SM see themselves now as the rising Texas intercollegiate music school in these parts. Since SMU is the quasi-gold standard in these parts for college football, I think many in Texas were impressed with the close game the Bobcats gave the Stangs last September. (In fact, SMU almost had to take a long bus ride back to University Park after that game). https://www.txstate.edu/ctmh/

Curfew/Victory Bell? 🔔 I’m sure Dean Imogene Dickey would have been very proud of the curfew focus.🙄 Hearing from some of you🙄 “old timers” thru the years her title probably should have been “Generalissimo Dickey.”🥶 ❇️🦅❇️ GMG! •••Preserve history—then don’t repeat the bad stuff.
