UAB is already touting their new stadium as “best in CUSA” (hey! it’s new for heaven’s sake) BUT.......what they forget to say is that it’s located 3 miles from their campus (about 10+ minutes with traffic) & that they’ll be sharing the city (or county) owned stadium with a SWAC(?) school & a SWAC bowl game. So Apogee Stadium is still (arguably) the best CUSA “on-campus” Stadium & Wren Baker will enhance it with what I think he will do with an End Zone facility as tied to the present Athletic Center. That might be a 2 phase project, but that’s what I think will happen. 🦅❇️🦅 It’s All Good! 🦅

I’d heard about this terrific tragedy years ago & hesitated to put this video on GMG now, but maybe we all need to sit back & know there’s more to all this than X’s & O’s, W’s & L’s or maybe when someone on this forum or other school’s fans who drop in have had it pretty tough how there’s probably someone else out there whose had it tougher? 🦅

Projecting the best WR Corps in every major conference
PlummMeanGreen replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
➡️ This: In 2021 Phil Steele kept an updated portal & transfer computerized list of every D-1 FBS school & did so up until the day his magazine went to print. That is why the 2021 PS Summer College Football magazine is head & shoulders above the rest. Some of that group of football magazines got last year’s 2-deep & based much of their 2021 forecast off of (what is basically) not up-to-date information. ❇️🦅❇️- 4 replies

Maybe we should get them to also rank our Mean Green Village venues as compared to the “bloody” rest of CUSA along with most of the G”freakin’5” (& even some P5’s, too) or maybe—we’d just finish too high for that poll?🤢 ••• IT’S BEEN ONE HELLUVA’ WACKY YEAR FOR A PANDEMIC!🤪 Those who do most G5 college football magazine coverage or polls don’t seem to know how much our team has changed since last Fall because of the portal transfers blitz that has taken place in Denton since the Winter/Spring of 2021. I think we fared quite well truth be told. ••• Even some posters on GMG have yet to factor in all those new “P5-heavily recruited“ additions, either. ••• Some on GMG are even agreeing with a new Yahoo “how many wins in 2021” poll with almost giddy glee (it seems). I’d bet much of that group also said Mason Fine would never start at North Texas, either.

Could Liberty be undefeated in 2021?
PlummMeanGreen replied to greenminer's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, if we all weekly or monthly tithed our income to UNT our favorite school would have lots the money, too, DG. (Yikes!😱 Lightening/thunder just knocked my butt out of my bed)! 👀 🦅❇️🦅 -
Briles would be more of a fit for SMU & it’s impeccable reputation once Sonny Dykes gets hired away by a P5 big conference school that needs to dramatically improve its recruiting, especially in Texas. All NCAA G5 head football coaches have a need for a larger stadium audience that fits those humongous egos & all our schools (including the one in Denton) fit under that particular umbrella & criteria. If TCU retired Gary Patterson early (or kicked him upstairs) I could easily see Sonny Dykes at the top of the Horned Frogs short list. I even had a big TCU fan over here in Weatherford say as much. And no, it wasn’t TCU super alum, Horned Frog varsity baseball great, Weatherford-based Congressman & auto dealership owner Roger Williams, either; albeit I have talked TCU athletics with him while looking at new autos & even one time he showed me his bullet scar from that Washington D.C congressional baseball practice.🤮 ❇️🦅❇️

My guess was that Trautwein started getting recruited from North Texas illegally early; that is, if there even is such a thing as “illegal” in this woke progressive era I think we’re beginning to see happen now at the intercollegiate level. Of course, some schools will take total advantage of this “everything goes” era especially those who are expertise & have probably been doing it all along Yet I think the recruiting of Hope began after her fabulous record-breaking feat that got more national publicity for her & the Mean Green than some other schools could probably stand us getting. That coupled with the 1’st round win over the #20 nationally ranked Purdue Boilermakers in March Madness may have pushed some of our rivals over the top? (I do jest since they could care less).🙄•••Yet we should do even more of this & for crissakes don’t stop now. I think we’ve all found that success can be fun. The NCAA has all but gone the direction of the U.S. Supreme Court inasmuch as you have no idea from one day to the next what the “W” Bush appointed Chief Justice John Roberts & his fellow celeb Supremes are going to come up with next. (No Bush fan here if you can’t tell). Still...UNT has no idea how lucky we are to have “In Wren We Trust” Baker as our AD & this quote from him proves it even more: “We’ll adapt and change,” UNT athletic director Wren Baker said. “Because of the experience we’re providing and the investments that we’ve made in facilities and infrastructure, North Texas is poised to gain just as much as we are losing in the portal. My hope is that over the course of time that the portal would be a net positive for us.” •••Well Mr. Baker, with our location with real estate room for expansion, our P-5’ish venues, our extremely diversified & burgeoning student body, I think UNT’s upside will continue to go (where else)—no where but northward. •••North Texas is lucky alright & I hope we can keep WB around as much as anyone on that campus. That’s where even better attendance would help, fellow Mean Green’ers, & that for everyone over at the Mean Green Village with all its men & women’s varsity teams. ❇️🦅❇️

Could Liberty be undefeated in 2021?
PlummMeanGreen replied to greenminer's topic in Mean Green Football
Barring injury to key personnel, I believe North Texas will have all pistons running by the time we play Liberty. Now the $64,000 question is will that be enough? LU played & beat some pretty salty football programs last Fall. -
...but we did have a good run of portal transfers which included “2” four star recruits & multiple 3 stars.

Preseason Texas Football Power Poll

Considering last Fall & without any Summer 2021 media knowing who did best with the portal, that’s looks about right. ❇️🦅❇️ -

‘22 OT Calvin Harvey - FB Ridge Point
PlummMeanGreen replied to 97and03's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Who says we still won’t get Calvin in due time? Funny & weird stuff happens daily in today’s screwed up NCAA. Never say never, but why would a Texas HS product of today turn down 3 much more visible Texas schools for one lost in the west Louisiana piney woods? (insert “Deliverance” theme song with the 2 toothless banjo players).🙄 ❇️🦅❇️ -
UNT shouldn’t get stuck in the mud as to not make moves that’s good for our school as some of us have seen so many athletic programs pass us by since the Missouri Valley Conference era. In other words, always keep our options open? The NCAA of today has become as unsettled as our country has of late. Don’t let them put us out of business, too. ❇️🦅❇️

Speaking of that school mentioned in the subject line: This blowout of UTSA by UNT was still only 2 years ago. I think the series record is 5 & 5. ❇️🦅❇️- 10 replies

BEWARE OF THOSE NW STATE DEMONS! 👹 (I will be wearing a green crucifix & a homemade necklace of green-dyed garlic on September 4, 2021). 🦅Anyone remember when those Northwestern🟪State🟨Demons visited TCU & beat the Gary Patterson-coached Horned Frogs? I thought Patterson would not escape an old fashioned tar & feathering that weekend. 🦅 Remember when those Demons last visited Fouts Field & came away with a late 4’th quarter win over our favorite school’s football team? 🦅•••I could not find videos on either game. Maybe you can? 🦅••• NW State has a good college marching band program. Hope they come to UNT Band Day on 9-4-21! 🦅••• NW State has a superb (older) stadium on their Natchitoches, Louisiana, campus. 📽🎞The hit movie “Steele Magnolias” was filmed throughout Natchitoches & with an all star cast. ❇️🦅❇️- 10 replies

What happened to our walk-on program?
PlummMeanGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Seriously, BrandonW, no one except a UNT coach can discuss your interest in the Mean Green per the NCAA recruiting rules. ••• Then FBS D1 schools have dead recruiting periods when not even any college coach from said school can talk to one interested. Maybe a couple of GoMeanGeen recruiting experts can guide you with your next step? ❇️🦅❇️GMG! -
Oaks is a nice wedding venue. The Knot wedding magazine is top notch. Congrats to Mr. & Mrs. Nic Smith! 🎩

Wish we could schedule a few more Indys. BYU would fill half or more of Apogee Stadiums Wing Zone. Most NT fans were pleased with Army’s show of fan support not so long ago in frigid weather. https://tvrev.com/college-football-independence-and-how-conference-less-teams-can-stay-on-tv/amp/ Army at North Texas...11-18-2017 ❇️🦅❇️
