  1. TCU fancied up Amon Carter Stadium especially to accommodate the crown prince duo of UT & OU. When the Horned Frogs entered the Big 12 they thought their years of conference-hopping were finally over. Not. After this 2021 season TCU will probably see neither on their future OOC schedule except (maybe) on a rare occasion. All will soon know that the TCU faithful will probably take this Big 12 implosion harder than anyone. Sure, Horned Frog officials & fans will come up with a brave, strong face & a “we’ll be just fine” narrative to mask what will be an extreme disappointment. Any school & their fans would do the same. In the Lone Star State, if you are not UT or TAMU, you best be ready for extreme highs & lows with re-alignment wars now & probably in the future. Nothing is set in stone with NCAA intercollegiate conferences. ___________________ TCU’s Conference Journeys September 7th, 1996– TCU’s first game as a WAC member is a a 20-7 victory on the road over Oklahoma. The team finishes the season 4-7, winning 3 WAC Conference games. 2001: TCU leaves the WAC and begins Conference USA play. Defensive coordinator Gary Patterson takes over as head coach. 2005: On July 1st, TCU joins the Mountain West Conference, part of a nation-wide conference realignment that occurred from 2005 to 2006. (TCU would briefly be a member of the Big East, but would never play one down in that conference). July 1, 2012: TCU invited to the Big 12. 🦅
  2. Aggies won’t. They don’t want that kind of publicity. They should be pissed about being left out of any SEC expansion discussion, though, & seems they are. They’ll get over it (like we do on shit that hits our fans thru the years). Glad we’re all resilient & that’s because we have to be. GMG! 🦅
  3. I’m sorry, meangreen11, you said “2003” defense. My bad.🙁
  4. A pleasant Mean Green Memory.
  5. The M&M’s & their Mother are Twitter friends. She is one great supportive Mother I’ll tell ya’! America needs more like her. GMG! 🦅❇️🦅
  6. I think you may be right, ADLER. While other programs are being exposed for their true worth, North Texas is just going to keep growing (& building inside the Mean Green Village). Cheers to ya’—in fact, cheers to all! 🍺🍺 ❇️🦅❇️
  7. I think Bullock & Ann Richards both helped Baylor get in the Big 12 (when it could have more easily been TCU or UH). 🦅
  8. You are so right! 😆 Bob Bullock, too?🤭 🦅
  9. NO LOVE FOR UNT, EITHER. 🤢 A 41, 000 enrollment school with close to 300K North Texas region alums? We have twice the number of UNT students who live on or near our campus than TCU & SMU’s combined enrollment. WTH, we don’t have enough upside for some of the (traditionist) old barnacles in charge of these re-alignments to even give us a nod? 😞(Of course, while this latest re-alignment hoopla is happening our football program would just happen to be in a 2 year losing cycle). Like ex UNT regent the late Winn Brown told me at a UNT function years ago: “North Texas should have seriously started a move toward the SWC & a more Major College football existence during the Abner Haynes era.” Well🤔, OK. (Honestly, you get 50 UNT people in a room & you get 50 different ways to solve our future athletic situation—-Hell, that’s no different than what goes on here at GMG.com).🤭😊😆 I mentioned to Mr. Brown after reading some of our UNT history that North Texas lost some SWC opponents who we were negotiating with for future games & one who dropped us off their future football schedule. All that because (then) traditional Caucasian UNT had become an integration pioneer in Texas while integrating (in the mid-1950’s) with the great Abner Haynes & Leon King. (Brown acted surprised on the scheduling part). ••• Even more surprising was the SWC school who dropped us off their schedule was affiliated with the Disciples of Christ denomination. ••• I guess they thought Jesus would concur with “THAT” decision to drop North Texas off it’s schedule because we integrated for heaven’s sake? (We should have integrated in 1890). It seems the Texas NCAA football pecking order will never change & would take an act of God for it to do so. •••Personally, I hope the Big 12 completely dissolves, remaining members go East & West & leaves some very “deserving” schools out to dry. Let them squirm a little like we have just about forever. 🏈 ENOUGH!😌 All I want now is a Fletcher’s Corny Dog & a brewsky over at our fabulous Apogee Stadium because I just want to watch some Mean Green football! GOMEANGREEN! (I really think this team will surprise many by season’s end—I really do) ❇️🦅❇️
  10. Why, HG? When SMU first entered CUSA they were sucking hind teat as a football program. 🦅
  11. What else could they say or sing: 🎶“Shall We Gather At the River“ 🎶 (& then jump in)? (I’ll probably GTH for saying that). Yes, there is much angst for all of us alright. ❇️🦅❇️
  12. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/college/ucla/.amp/news/report-big-12-discussed-pac-12-merger
  13. Siggers was 3’rd on the UNT RB’s depth chart before he jumped ship for $MU. Most of us still wish for him good luck 🍀 except this September 11’th. 🦅
  14. Hey folks, the OU-UT thing is done. They didn’t even vote on it according to KTCK. Said they didn’t need to vote on it & had they voted it would be 13 to 1. 🦅
  15. Glad to see you back, Arkstfan. 😊For locals, at 5:45--5-55 today on 1310 KTCK Corby is going to discuss what he thinks will happen to TCU. As an OU enthusiast he’s loving all this. Robinson said earlier that TAMU absolutely got screwed on this. KTCK reported earlier all this with UT/OU has been in the works for a year, but the Aggies just found out about it. Hullabaloo Ka’ screwed, Ka’screwed? 🦅
  16. Won’t this turn into a repeat of back when we “upgraded”. to CUSA how half of that league had left & then several in the Sun Belt would be our traveling pals in our new league? Who stays in the AAC when all the Super Conference cherry picking is done? Will the G5 more or less be re-arranging the deck chairs, but that’s about it?
  17. I would wholeheartedly agree. Why would they? Not a TV market among them. That group of Big 12 leftovers will need to get ready to eat a lot of humble pie. The new Big 12 might need to also get ready to be recipients of portal cherry picking from the Super Conferences. We will all need a score card to keep up with today’s NCAA. Question: Why are GMG posters automatically adding P5 bottom dwellers to all these new proposed Super Conferences? What if that group is passed over completely? They going to get upset because they get no TV revenue anymore? Well, join the club, gang. That once happened to all G5’s. 🦅
  18. Super Conference will be poaching from whats left of the "Mighty Big 12 Orphans Conference." Funny how turn about will suddenly be fair play.
  19. COME ON NOW! TIME TO GO OUTSIDE OUR USUAL ‘GO NOWHERE’ BOX*****SWIM WITH THE SHARKS & GO MAJOR INDEPENDENT, NORTH TEXAS! SHOW EM' WE HAVE MAJOR FISH BALLS! Show the P5 greed'meisters we can play this kind of future NCAA game, too. (What the hell would we have to lose? TV money? Not). As a Major Indy' UNT would probably become an "OOC" scheduling darling with the rest of the P5 crowd. Scheduling would absolutely be no problem. (Try telling me Michigan & similar would not want to come to DFW--the hottest recruting grounds in these here United States of America? UNT would get schools into Apogee we've all wanted in Denton for just about....FOREVER? Don't faint OldDenton & "we are not worthy" Small Timers, but we'd probably have to expand Apogee & then cause real traffic jams over in Denia. IN THE FINAL ANALYSIS, BEING A P1 MAJOR INDEPENDENT IS THE ONLY PATH NORTH TEXAS WILL EVER HAVE TO BEING AT THE P5 LEVEL &HAVING ANY CHANCE FOR TV REVENUE. I THINK TCU HAS MADE UPWARDS TO $20 MILLION TV REVENUE IN ONE YEAR. SEEKING MAJOR INDEPENDENT P5 STATUS WOULD FOR CERTAIN BE THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED IN THESE TIMES OF CONFERENCE RE-ALIGNMENT, BUT IT COULD BE THE MOST PRODUCTIVE ONE FINANCIALLY. ❇️🦅❇️
  20. Amen to the last sentence, ADLER. We cannot lose him. ❇️🦅❇️
  21. I have seen their campus. It is very nice. I have relatives in Birmingham/Bessemer area & have since before the War Between the States. I think Samford is a religious college much like ORU in Tulsa.
  22. This would be almost as big as when the SWC imploded—if it happens. Houston Chronicle wouldn’t have run with the story if it was just rumor mill stuff. UNT & Re-Alignment? We need a bigger stadium & larger budget to even think about a future above where we are now. (Then we need some serious politickin’). ••• Our upside still remains very bright in spite of things we do to ourselves. (We’ve all been here before, folks). UH will be considered first & then (take a big breath)—-Boise State or Memphis. 🤜🏼 Still, losing UT & OU will make the rest of the Big 12 look like orphans. Maybe they could re-name their league “the Mighty Big 12.”🙄 ••• The real loser with this if it happens are the remaining Texas-based Big 12 schools. TCU Frogs are pee’ing all over themselves with this news from the Houston Chronicle. For UNT? Bloom where planted? ••• Someone mentioned LaTech? Please....Ruston is no growing population center & has a very, very small TV market. When they start a 4 or 5 season losing streak then what do they bring to the party? They bring a small market. That’s what they bring. The best long term for us is the AAC, but SMU will go back into bitter mode after they get turned down by the Big 12 & do their “whose your daddy” routine with our favorite school. (Kind of getting old, isn’t it)? ❇️🦅❇️
  23. Wouldn’t it be beyond great if Javion made the Dallas Mavericks team?💫⚡️☄️💥 🦅
  24. Guess I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention present CUSA members UTEP & Charlotte both made the Final 4 in the past. The Miners beat Adolph Rupp’s Kentucky Wildcats in the 60’s to win the whole enchilada & Charlotte who was one win away from the championship game in 1977. Remember when the UNCC 49’ers used the name “Mean Green?” 🦅
  25. Not only Purdue, DG, but the “20” ranked Purdue Boilermakers. When would be the last time anyone in CUSA beat a program ranked # 20 at the end of a season? 🦅
