Remember when the AAC advertised themself as a P5 conference 2 or so years ago in their AAC commercial? So do they now lie to recruits about not being a G5? Anxious to see how that group handles this new “pay for play” program & we don’t have to do much guessing how one will do it—probably did before it got officially approved, Has the NCAA completely lost it as far as promoting an amateur product? You might get the feeling that none of this is going to end well for the biggest abusers who are not in a Super Conference. 🦅

😇(Just one more time)🏈 🗣 DON’T PUNISH YOURSELVES ANYMORE, O YE BIG 12 MEMBERS WHO WILL HAVE REMAINED... Why would any Big 12 school whose left behind because of UT & OU greed want to hook up with SMU & UH which would only give the remaining B12’s even stiffer recruiting competition in the 2 hottest recruiting hot beds in Texas—Dallas & Houston? Would it not be enough to suffer the loss of UT & OU & then replace them with 2 football programs who could very well out- recruit them; least of all cut into remaining B12 member’s dramatically lower TV revenue?😳 Really now, wouldn’t that sorta be jumping from the frying pan into the fire? SMU along with this new NCAA-sanctioned (basically) “pay to play on the Hilltop” program will have every blue chip football talent in south Dallas County (& beyond) thinking SMU’s lilly white campus is the Rap & Hip Hop Capital of Texas & the Southwest. •••SMU & their slicker than snot lawyer brigade are smooth operators. Their father’s generation created the national recruiting scandal that would require an NCAA-sanctioned Death Penalty on the Hilltop. Some called it PonyGate. (Hark! SMU finally made the national news). That group of Mustang Maniac’s & now their son’s generation would sell their souls to be back with the Big Boys even if the SMU audience at G. Ford is ridiculously small for a program with such big aspirations. TCU & Baylor removed themselves from all the SMU sludge. Can’t see those 2 schools wanting to sing “Kum Bah Yah” with Peruna ever again, either. Yet to get those or any P5 intercollegiate associations back again SMU’ers will sell more lies to innocent high school kids & naive’, gullible portal transfer dwellers of which SMU history indicates (once again)—-they’ll do anything for a P5 win inside a half empty Gerald J. Ford Stadium—& half empty even when they were ranked of late. ➡️ The Big 12 should stay in-tact & not add anyone while at the same time not creating another mini-Southwest Conference of too many Texas schools in one league. That song has been sung before. ••• If memory serves, that was a prime reason the original SWC broke up in the first place. 🦅

This is all beginning to make me think of the good ol’ days (sarc) in Denton right after Fry left town.🙄 Let the Bataan Death March 2.0 begin...again. “PMG, but why so bitter 1 or 2 might ask? “ Well, not bitter—just disappointed as hell. (Obviously,I am not alone with that feeling). Yet where did all the time go, I’m 70 freakin years old now & what started out with great promise In the early 70’s shows no signs of progressing inasmuch as our name is never uttered in any (better conference) talks. Re-Alignment time has become a focus on just how far we’ve come or...for us how far we’ve still not come. Our loathful “25 years too late on everything” past continues to rear its ugly head. Hell, all we seem to have done the last 50 years is tread water but mostly gone under. Still....new hope came with the emergence of Smatresk as UNT President, a BOR’s that wanted to play hard ball & with the key player in all of this (IMHO) being AD Wren Baker. They were all on the same page, but now Missouri just happens to need a freakin’ AD? Such terrific timing! One couldn’t put that scenario in a poorly written paperback novel. We just need a bigger than usual break to materialize in Denton soon. Any schools alums & fans thrive on such things. 🦅

Ditto! 👍 If Wren goes, please don’t turn this over to the local group think crowd who would think future progress would be waving yet another white flag possibly seeing us go down another NCAA division (remember 1-AA?) or......being cast with yet another collection of schools (most of whom were not even around or playing football the day North Texas defeated a 7 & 4 Tennessee Vols FB team). ••• Whether winning or losing, North Texas Is still better than any of that group. (Please quit judging everything on the last 2 football seasons W/L records—Go listen Brett Vito on his most recent podcast ••• Never say never about putting the wrong people or those forever bureaucratic regressives in charge. History has one helluva’ strange way of repeating. So hang around, young alums, & you’ll see how we keep doing some things over & over again. ____________________ 💚 PLEASE STAY WREN. YOU’LL ULTIMATELY BE MORE APPRECIATED AT NORTH TEXAS & YOUR MOST PROGRESSIVE MARK ON THE UNT PROGRAM WILL BE MUCH MORE MAGNIFIED THAN PROBABLY ANYTHING YOU COULD DO AT MIZZOU AT THIS STAGE OF THE GAME. ______________________ ❇️🦅❇️

CUSA East schools looking to break away
PlummMeanGreen replied to GreenFlag's topic in Mean Green Football
Haven’t most in these parts been saying the same about CUSA East almost from the beginning? When G5’s have little in common to not even want to play each other that says it all. What times we live. 🦅North Texas: Just keep growing & keep building! That will pay off in time, but leave the past behind. We have little to learn from all that which will help us in today’s & the future NCAA. ❇️🦅❇️ -
II don’t believe that. Your working with a very small undergraduate enrollment at TCU as it is. Most TCU alums I know are doing pretty good in Texas & wouldn’t the ones who’ve been in California be coming back here now (or soon will be)? California is a shit hole financially run by a bunch of Marxists who can’t run their own families. See their results thus far? It will get worse. Let them experience all of it & see but...If what your saying were true then getting in the PAC12 would be a piece of cake for the Froggies. (Not going to happen). 🦅
-
Why the hell not on a geographical conference? We mean no more to CUSA-East than CUSA-West means to them. TV?😆 Gimmee’ a break. What is the CUSA President going to have as our future TV revenue & compensation? Maybe beads, pottery, baskets, and woven mats? See what greed does to the “just gotta have more” crowd? They just want more & could care less if the G5 gets...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! THIS SHOULD MEAN....WAR!😎 The NCAA is useless to the G5 in trying to help our group of schools & it’s fans. Dang it!🙃

Smart. Being proactive instead of re-active. Don’t know if it will work, though, but at least they’re trying something while others sit around.🙄 ❇️🦅❇️

Texas lawmakers draft bill to approve reallignment
PlummMeanGreen replied to Hunter Green's topic in Mean Green Football
Wasn’t expecting one last Winter. What a surprise. Surprised there were not as many fatalities, though. -
THIS HURTS! •••UTSA is now ahead of us for the MWC & if they had similar across the board athletic facilities as UNT (& they are not even close) they’d get the first call over any of us IMO. They have a handful of games they drew over 35-40,000 at the AlamoDome in their early years—KFC or no KFC. The idea of a 40K Apogee freaks some of you out. (Oh! We have to fill Apogee 40 x’s in a row then think about it, right)? Meanwhile SWT State just joined the Big 12. •••Sarcasm? Hell yes, sarcasm! After 50 years of head banging on the Piss Wall at Fouts you might actually get that way. •••Also, Utsa now has a real Coach with Texas HS connections whose kicking arse on the recruiting trail. (Of course, he won’t be there long). Lets face some reality here which is not easy for some on GMG (including me). They have a destination city & the Alamo—we have Denton & “the Little Chapel in the Woods.” 5-4-3-2...🙄 Hey! We still 💚wuv’ our favorite school, though, a school whose across the board upside (IMHO) still tops any in CUSA & some in the AAC. We just have to get to work & have several winning seasons in a row with some ranked teams—no more freakin’ detours. 🦅

➡️Addendum: WHAT TCU MADE IN P5 TV REVENUE IN JUST ONE RECENT YEAR WOULD HAVE PAID FOR (most or all) OUR FABULOUS LOVELACE*MCNATT FAMILY INDOOR PRACTICE FACILITY. _______________ ••• Like you, ADLER, (& others) I’m an ideas guy. Hellsbells! I once had Alfred Frances Hurley come up to me at Fouts & thank me for some general student recruiting ideas which I sent to his office since tech school recruiting is what I did for 25 years. Dr. Hurley & Joanne were 2 of the best, except he just didn’t completely grasp what all the advantages an NCAA D1 athletics existence could be for UNT. 🦅🦅🦅 My hope is that 2 or 3 P5 outcasts who don’t land in a super conference will open up a new portal for a future as a P5 Major Independent because....that will be the only path our favorite school will ever have to raise ourselves above where we’ve always been. And OldDenton, please don’t freakin’ say how we would be sacrificing having “all conference” teams. Back in the day, TCU went rogue & left behind all their prior Texas intercollegiate ties (SMU & UH) when they joined the MWC, but I think they knew then that would not be their final stop. Might be an outside shot with all the present realignment hoopla happening, but wouldn’t surprise me to see TCU consider Major Independent status so they can continue their “rogue’ness” & non-association with those they previously had no interest in being associated with. All this going on in the NCAA is better than the Olympics. . 🦅 PS: On the other hand, TCU may for the moment kiss & make up with SMU & UH while singing kum bah yah, but they will always be looking for better (as I think UNT is doing now with Wren Baker at the helm).

A celebrity website that posts celebs networth said the retired wrestler is worth $30 million.

The author of that piece lost me at “TCU has a large following in Southern California.” Not sure how large a following TCU has outside Tarrant County (although today I did see an old TCU pennant at a Weatherford eatery). Congressman (& TCU super alum Roger Williams) must be very sick about all this, but he really does a good job of evangelizing Parker County for Frogdom. 🦅

Texas lawmakers draft bill to approve reallignment
PlummMeanGreen replied to Hunter Green's topic in Mean Green Football
Why don’t they deal with real issues like keeping Texas asses from freezing this Winter? -
So might some of the P5 conference leftovers only have Major Independent P5 status as their only choice? If a TCU doesn’t want any association with UH or SMU what’s their choice? They have liked their rogue existence in the past; much like TAMU thought they had one in the SEC. What would be a new P5 Independent criteria for other newbies interested or will the P5 Super Conference boys continue for a closed P5 membership? One Possible Criteria for Those Seeking A Projected New P5 Independent Status? ••• The NCAA should require a minimum 42,000 seat stadium for starters. That would really separate the wheat from the chafe with most presently at the G5 level. But.....would North Texas powers that be ever have the balls to leave the OldDenton attitude behind & seek Major Independent P5 status? Hell, what would we do with any added (significant) TV revenue since we basically get $0.00 now as a CUSA G5 member? 🍷🍷 We have to dream at UNT or we’ll be exactly where we are now 25 years from the present.

SMU mentioned as option in Big 12 3.0
PlummMeanGreen replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
I think UH & the H-town market is a natural even for an extremely weakened Big 12. Iowa State AD said few short years ago that the Big 12 w/o OU & UT is.......D-E-A-D. 🦅- 15 replies
