  1. CUSA will be a nice temporary home for the Miners until the MWC comes a-callin'. Seems like UTEP could bargain the Sun Bowl to the MWC as enticement for that move.
  2. Now hold it one darn New York minute here, Hog Dawg is a few of ours good bitch buddy and some of us might take offense to a personal insult about ol' HD coming from one of his own--just leave that part to us! I second that emotion: Here's to a good, clean NCAA D1-A football game that people will talk about for years to come. Some of us are just pulling some legs over at your board. Any one of us would come to your assistance if your were in need of such. These are smack boards that just need some old fashioned smack talk on them from time to time. If I ever personally push things to the limit too much, I'd hope to get an email from the one who felt that way stating such because I'd probably apologize and back down on the subject at hand from that point on. Most any of us on GMG.com would for that matter. GMG!
  3. Thank goodness. Where would North Texas be without having CLC out there protecting our multi-million dollar merchandising programs too. (FFR quote) ................................................................................................................................ KANSAS U IS OUT THER HUSTLING BIG MONEY! As some of our very own NT constituency have doubted the availabilty of monies out there for the construction of a new football stadium, just look what the Kansas Jayhawks freakin' received from Adidas? BUILT IT, DAMMIT, JUST BUILD THE DAMN STADIUM! Troy U did it, why are we acting like its The Impossible Dream sometimes when we know it isn't? Hellsbells, we could build a state of the art college football stadium with half of UT-Austin's athletic budget. What the hell we doing wrong in Denton? Is Denton (DFW) located in Appalachia or something? To hear some of our people talk, you'd think we were. I just don't get it with our alma mater sometimes, I just don't. Who knows, maybe someone on campus is just trying to position themselves into looking like NT's Fund-Raising Messiah by "finally" finding the Big Donor for our new stadium, but geewillakers people, we are in the Garden Spot of Coporate America in this part of the sovereign state of Texas in the greatest and wealthiest nation in the world. There is some Big Money out there if we just seek it without possibly pissing off potential Big Donors like some of our very own most loyal NT constituency get treated over simple customer service at times from the very campus we've invested much money and time; and too many times from people who have never taken 1 course at NT and perhaps spend way too much time dressing up resumes rather than performing the job at hand. Go figure? People buy from people they like and they also give to people they like. Don't know about yall, but I still see 15,000 empty seats at Fouts Field most games AND our coaching staff and football team deserve better, in fact, they deserve standing-room-only at every Mean Green home game. They have given us much the last 5 years--what have we given them in return? At NT, do we need to add Customer Service 101 to our curriculum for some who obviously missed taking the course wherever they went to school? Do we need to add the Troy U fundraisers to our staff, you know, the Troy U fundraisers who didn't talk about how hard it is to raise money, but just went out there, did it and finished a (basically) new stadium about 2 years ago. Sorry, too early for a Friday morning rant, I know!
  4. Great idea! Only thing about these national franchise operations is how the store managers most always say they have to check with their national corporate office for approval to do anything. Maybe some local managers actually check on those corporate offfices--others I think just blow it off. Try going around Denton busineses in July or August hanging Mean Green football schedule posters (as many of us on this board have done in various decades of our involvement) and you will even get that "got to check with corporate" response just to hang a simple football poster. Mom and pop stores are always the easiest and most receptive I think most of us would agree. Just anything that helps us raise our per game average. Whatever it takes and it doesn't matter who gets it done. But most of all, our football team deseves SRO at any football game they play at Fouts Field because they are that entertaining and that good. The Daktronics scoreboard/replay board has IMHO amazingly added so much to a football game at Fouts Field far exceeding my expectations as to what it would do to add more spice to Game Day.
  5. Went to the doctor today and he said I had, uh, poll'itus. Said it was in-operable, too. $h&T fire and save the matches! Also........who is the better team? Tulsa U or La Tech?
  6. YES! Way to go, fellow Lower Section E'er aka Phil! BTW, have you sent Hog Dawg to the pound or somethin'?
  7. For some reason, I thought we had climbed to around $14-15 million. Can anyone link the 2004 budget for both men and women's athletics?
  8. Thanks, UNTLifer, I wasn't even close now was I? Mid-50's is just about to kill me!
  9. Is that located where the (was it Copper Skillet) cafe used to be located? Little Krum trivia: NT graduate (Class of 1927), NT Athletic Hall of Fame member and longtime successful SMU basketball Coach Doc Hayes was from Krum, Texas. He coached at SMU from 1947 to 1967.
  10. What's ol HD doing to that bike anyway?!?!?
  11. That budget would build us such a stadium in Denton that the Big 12 would be looking at us in a few years when there is another conference musical chairs; of course, they'd be looking at us assuming we are filling such a stadium.
  12. La Tech will be going into a full depression after we take care of business with better Texas HS trained athletes that they only dream of having. The 34-7 NT win sounds about right with our 2 Maxwell Award nominees runnning for over 500 yards combined. I wonder if CFN will be the only one who (strangely) predicts a La Tech win? Of course, I am sure they did their home-work very thoroughly on that. Can't wait for this game.
  13. And what about this new Club Med in Terrell, Texas?
  14. Polls are a healthy thing. They've changed my life. I have a bright new positive outlook on everything that I didn't have pre-poll era. They are better than a Tony Robbins seminar. And yes, I like myself better than I used to. The days of low self-image are gone forever! I commend you with this most unique poll, MeanGreen61, but am I allowed to even vote?
  15. My bad... You are right and I am wrong about Scott Hall. Sorry....
  16. Uh........"First Idea Ever Used By NT From GMG.com" ? ? ? ? Just jokin' bout' that, but doggon' it, we have 15,000 more seats we need to fill every game at our alma mater's on-campus football stadium and why not try a few things that gets large groups out?
  17. Island Eagle, I thought Korey Washington had had some success in the play-offs. We have 3 Texas HS football QB's who we signed as athletes/DB's, but I'd bet one of them never sees the defensive backfield while at NORTH TEXAS. Does Korey Washington have a brother or cousin playing for Cedar Hill this Fall? They have one with the same last name who is being very highly recruited. Old Timer, do you know if they are related? (And why do I insist in calling you Old Fan most of the time!?!?! lol!
  18. GreenBat, if any organization ordered 5,000 t-shirts I would think a nice price break would be in order?
  19. Exactly, they beat us every year on paper, but that's OK. If they are going to beat us on the field, they better do it this year because our 2006 team looks to me to be pretty doggon' salty.
  20. Not a QB controversy thread, fellow alums. I do wonder if we have any true frosh who might get the call if we get short-handed at QB? Seems Scott Hall's first year he was supposed to play defensive back but ended up taking us to our first bowl in eons that same year as----------QB.
  21. Any names come to mind? Even who among our sophmore class might be ready to see some significant playing time this Fall? Also, we know most all NCAA D1-A schools try to redshirt their entire true freshmen class, but do we have a handful who may still get some playing time this Fall?
  22. Stan, you the Man! Thanks for those most memorable photos of NORTH TEXAS hosting Baylor U at Fouts Field in our blow-out win over the Big 12 Bears. Can anyone else visualize about 5,000 NT students (remember, its our home season opener and we will have our largest Freshmen Class ever since we have the last 5 years in a row); anyway, can you just see all this at our home season opener vs TU as 5,000 (or more) of our NT students sit between each 30 yard lines on their side wearing our (new) much brighter shade of green? Sort of a warm thought on this hot June summer day, now isn't it? If you can dream it--you can do it?
  23. Shaneb, I thought I had seen similar promo somewhere years ago, so maybe it was the Baylor students. Can anyone link a photo of the BU student section wearing one solid color of gold (yellow)?
  24. Good idea, NT91. Of course, I included that game for the dual usage this Fall of this "Green-Out" t-shirt. One of the main things of this promo is that it shows our fans and alums what our new color actually is and the color green we should all be looking to buy the rest of football season and then years to come. Sort of a "coming out party" (if you will) for the new Mean Green color you might say?
  25. ACCEPTED, HARRY!
