Wait a minute! A coach getting fired after his team played in the Big 12 Championship Game? Hellsbells! At UNT, our Board of Regents would have rubber-stamped for him a 4 year extension! Yes he was, Deep, but he was also the one who bashed the state of Texas when a couple of his players he recruited from our great and sovereign state became disciplinary problems. Barnett's comment on those 2 from the Lone Star State: "Well, you have to consider where they are from?" But with our present "going South" situation at North Texas, Gary Barnett could quickly be forgiven. (Going "South" at "North" Tejas? Is that an oxymoron in a directional sort of way? This thread is (I think) in jest, but FWIW, UTEP became a Top 25 school almost overnight with a similar hire and on that situation I re-iterate: Anyone think UTEP's talent level became that dramatically better (insert subliminal "superior coaching") that quickly? Yet, we still have some of our best who think DD merely getting this MG football ship back to the top of the SBC will be just fine (OOC wins or not, I suppose). Yet that is just not what most of us grew up with with this Mean Green football and that part many of us will guarantee to those who seem now to be most content in accepting far less with a DDickey-led football program. GOD BLESS THE FIRST TEXAS RANGERS...

We are a light year or two or three from being anywhere close to what the Aztecs have most admirably done in setting higher standards (and that IMHO because of poor athletic administrating at UNT and I'm not talking about Rick Villarreal when I say that, either). Yet it's one thing to put such grandiose goals on paper (which is where you have to obviously start the process) but its another thing to fund it and to make sure you have the coaching personnel who can pull it off. Shall we all be reminded just how fast Coach Price took UTEP out of NCAA D1-A oblivion to Top 25 rankings? Anyone think the talent level of UTEP just got that much better overnight? We've all heard of impact players, but what about impact coaches? Some of you recall what Fry did in his first year with a Mean Green football team who was 1 & 10 the year before he arrived in Denton? GOD BLESS TEXAS!

MORE OLD HAT WITH A BIT OF NEW MIXED IN (MAYBE)............... Well, it may be questionable for some but when when many of us saw the Bobcats of TSU play the Texas A & M Aggies weeks ago, it proved many things to NT Exes and Mean Green fans who would have only had to take off those green tinted glasses for a minute to observe that TSU was probably another 1-AA team we would have lost to (of which there have really been several during the DDickey era, like in almost each bowl year)? It still simply amazes me with some in our society some of which would ever be mistaken for intelluctual go-getters"; anyway, how some of that group have bluffed their way (with a little help from their friends/relatives in some cases) into 6 figure annual incomes at the college level and in the NFL, 7 figure incomes. If it had always been about money with me, who knows, I make just get a bit envious with some. Yet there used to be a day in Mean Green Country when only being at the top (or trying to get back to the top) of the consortium of (SBC) schools (most of whom many hadn't heard of 15-20 plus years ago) would be considerred most unacceptable. Yet is seems in many ways we've even been robbed of our past mode of setting high expectations, too, right along with other things in Denton that by keeping all this on the down low has extended a few careers (but for those who are still around after that era is over, we will most likely still see UNT football even lower in Jeff Sagarin's rating system. The beat goes on while (still) way too many in Mean Green Country are yawning, turning over and going back to sleep. GOD BLESS TEXAS!

I went to the Texas State game today.....
PlummMeanGreen replied to bflan's topic in Mean Green Football
Once again, most every year DD went bowling we were beaten by schools who were (basically) NCAA D1-AA schools, so nothing new for UNT playing (and getting beat even during bowl years) by 1-AA schools. DD will get his 3'rd attempt to get his first win one against FAU next Fall at Fouts (and probaby a 4'th attempt in 2007 and so on and so on). Wonder what College of Football Hall of Famer Hayden Fry would (privately) tell Bobby Ray and the UNT Board of Regents of his observation of the true direction of Mean Green football? Dare any of that group ask or...........do we need to still consult with Kansas "pre-Bill Snyder era" State experts? GOD BLESS TEXAS... -
Hey, NT80, should we (immediately) start a letter writing campaign to Governor Rick Perry to suggest he immediately put the Dallas mayor on our NT Board of Regents? Why? The woman (with this Cotton Bowl $cenario) obviously has a helluva' lot of sports savvy' and sports $ense about her and would be a natural on our NT Board. Heck, in her very first official NT BOR meeting her first recommendation would probably be to give DDickey yet another extension to his long-running "dare we break it/though NCAA coaches do all the time" contract at UNT. (This NCAA D1-A coaching career taking place in Denton, Texas, just continues to amaze and baffle this longtime follower of NCAA college football). And here we go again with yet another Metroplex stadium which will be dramatcally ($50 million?) improved (or built, such as SMU's Ford Stadium, Hunt's Soccer Complex in Frisco, the Arlington Cowboys new football palace which will soon turn dirt, etc, etc, etc) while we see our very own Fouts Field is still (probably) the main UNT campus venue 60,000 daily commuters on the 2 Denton interstates will still continue to see. Of course, with a new major college football stadium at UNT I think our NT BOR's would need to seriously re-commit to a major college football upgrade (like UTEP did with Coach Price as well as San Diego St's new committment) with our football goals much higher than merely being satisfied with trying to (only) get back to the top of SBC/Bottom 10, ie, Best of the Worst success as seems to be our present modus operendi under present coaching leadership and with recent recruiting trends, right? Maybe all we get in Denton are just (long needed) minor sports venues and that will satisfy most? Have A Nice "cold" Day! GOD BLESS TEXAS...

Funny, ee...... Yet the ones who I want to notice the manifestos are the ones doing all the "invisible" lurking. You veteran posters/readers pretty well all know what I am going to say by now. Some of you have even told me my epistles (gosh, that makes me feel religious just to say that word); anyway, some of you have even told me I've helped with some of your insomnia problems and for that I am grateful..............(I think)? GOD BLESS TEXAS!

HERE'S THE TRUTH THE WAY MANY SEE IT (while others refuse to admit to it because that would be an admission that they've been wrong all along). Suggestion to those of you who don't have anything else to do and may want to read this epistle: Read half of it in the AM & the other half in the PM, but don't read any of it if you take medication for hypertension. ................................................................. Sorta' bothers me that a school (La Tech) that we now know has been kicking DD's butt in recruiting the last few years is not going to a bowl game. La Tech with their win over Fresno State on TV the other night deserves a bowl game over other schools and certainly over any school in the SBC/Bottom 10. With what we have seen of La Tech's recruiting, some of you with open minds might want to carefully consider these thoughts and their realities: Troy U who beat UNT in 2001 pre-SBC membership allowed DD to back into a 2001 bowl game; Florida Atlantic U who beat us in 2004, ie, a year before their SBC membership became official allowed DD to back into a 2004 bowl; and now the blatant truth that had La Tech never left the SBC, that they (along with Troy and FAU) may have very well taken all 4 bowl games that DD just happen to be around to be able to say to SBC Commish' Wright Waters: "Gosh almighty, Wright ol' pal (and perseverer of my head football coaching career at UNT) surely we accept those 4 bowl invites. All the aforementioned realities with a (still) way under .500 W/L record) would have most coach's in NCAA D1-A on the job searching trail, but not at North Texas, of course. Just what is it, fellow "give a damn'ers of UNT's football future" that other NCAA D1-A athletic hiring authorities seem to be very loudly telling all of us in Mean Green Country? That is, that they, too, are not impressed with DD's performance at the University of North Texas in light of 4 "backed into" bowl appearances? And with 100 plus (outside the SBC, of course) other NCAA D1-A schools total unwillingness to give Darrell Dickey even one consideration to be on any of their serious head football coach candidates list? Just what is it that our NT Board of Regents seems to know that no one else in the entire NCAA D1-A (least of all most of us in the Mean Green Nation) still haven't figured out about Darrell Dickey? A DD who gets to hang around (going on a 9'th) year of "shooting fish in the barrell" success playing the worst ever collection of schools in NCAA history? BTW, a consortium of schools that we are now in light of FIU's (for crissakes) win over MTSU that officially puts our NT football program at the bottom of this barrell full of fish. NT80, we do need a change of neighborhoods (among other changes) so we can get ourselves out of the Bottom 10 doldrums. I don't see such a change anytime soon, but we don't need just that to move us up the ladder. We can still do that in spite of SBC/Bottom 10 membership if we just make some key personel changes; because the way things are today, I fear things will get worse in Denton before it gets better. The real shame here is that a school like UNT, it's growth and dynamic location can do just like UTEP (who UNT still has the all time W/L football series record advantage) and hire a coach who (like Price) who would not spend time kicking fans butts over the radio airwaves, but would spend time doing what was is necessary to get the Mean Green into the upper quadrant of NCAA D1-A. Why the delay of our progress because of 1 or 2 on campus who just cannot utter the phrase "SBC/Bottom 10" or "Best of the Worst" is the real a$$-kicker with many of us. How many of you have observed other businesses being operated like NT football has been of late? Yet while this is all being allowed to continue.........the UNT community yawns, turns over in bed and continues in a deep sleep of acceptance of this. Said it before, but this is just not the same North Texas that used to make most of my era and before proud & excited about our future I guarantee that; and, FWIW, many of us back in our eras when our goals for NT football were much higher didn't know anything about schools who presently make up the SBC/Bottom10. Of course, 2 of those schools didn't have football back in that day, either. And one of those schools a Dickey-led NT football program has yet to win one game. Just what is it going to take for NT Exes/Mean Green fans to say enough is enough ? How long till we (collectively) request to our NT Board of Regents that we get back on the high road of years long gone, you know, back to the days when we didn't have to worry about what our NT head football coach would say next on the radio (of a negative nature), the days when we all had a better self-image of our collegiate alma mater (which usually means more donors and larger donations from present donors) and for damn sure, to get back to the days when we set higher goals for Mean Green football than what we are getting in this present NCAA D1-A quagmire we are sinking in right along with our other fellow SBC/Bottom 10 conference mates? What part of any of the aforementioned is that far off base, fellow alums? I have an open mind and (to those of you who have known me for a long time) you know I will listen to sound reasoning on anything and will even 'fess up when I am wrong. GOD BLESS TEXAS...

How many times have we seen some college football teams stay young for 5 or 6 years? How long can a player be a freshman, anyway? GBT!

And to add to our reputation in hiring an extremely high percentage of those who will never get to the next level career-wise upon leaving UNT, Coach Francione was even once interested in the UNT head football coaches job, but UNT was not interested in Coach Fran (as the story goes). We seem to have (in our past) run a retirement center for many in the UNT athletic department. This for some employees way too young to really retire but they and their careers seem to be stuck in Denton, Texas. BUT..........what about a coach who would come to UNT, give us a few years of a bang up job (with OOC wins/ Top 25 rankings) and he even possibly getting a Big 12 or Big 10 job as a result of what he did in Mean Green Country for several football seasons; anyway, using Coach Fran as just one example (since we'll never know if there were others of similar scope applyiing; yet we for darn sure want to avoid such hires at NORTH TEXAS (and so we do). QUESTION: Would you rather have 5 or 6 years of a situation such as UTEP has going now with Coach Price, who upon his arrival took the Miners to first time Top 25 ranking(s) almost overnight, or would you prefer 7-10 years of a SBC/Bottom 10 coexistnace and if we happen to get another bowl game this decade, still losing to the 4'th place CUSA team? GBT! -
111th North Texas finish on Sportsline
PlummMeanGreen replied to KingDL1's topic in Mean Green Football
Some call all that, uh...........Dickey Ball, FFR. When does DD interview for his alma mater's job again? And if that were to happen, won't that be his first official interview after his leading us to 4 bowl games as football champ of the SBC/Bottom 10? What part of all this direction by DD is exciting you who are our campus leaders? We all (truly) want to be just as excited, too, but please clue us in on what makes yall keep rubber-stampin' this every year? You know, all that you ask us to invest every year? PLEASE STEP FORWARD: BTW, which one of you will volunteer to market all this in the summer of 2006? That is, to market what a growing number (if you can go by emails sent to me of those who never post but only read on this forum) who say they cannot follow any of this now or next year or in 2007 when they give DD yet another year to watch his under. 500 W/L differential widen? What should be the concern of most is what percentage of those emails I received from total strangers represent a much larger cross section of the UNT community? To NT Decision-Makers: Can you not see for yourselves what many now see as the real direction of Mean Green football based on this year, recruiting trends of recent years among those schools we're getting beat by now who we really thought we were ahead of the past 5 years; and with those (forever) key losses to actual NCAA 1-AA schools or those just out of that NCAA level in that same number of years? And so with this veiled success, it being even more apparent that some of you who have the responsibility of leading our school with crucial decisions you make (and contract extensions you approve) DO YOU THINK it was the University of North Texas alum, Mean Green fan and athletic donors that the creator of that other kind of circus had in mind when he coined his most famous phrase about what kind of person was born every minute? GOD BLESS TEXAS! -
Quote from first time visitor to Fouts
PlummMeanGreen replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
And A Few Monday Addendums At the Bottom of Page: Well, FFR, some of our fellow Parker County-ites over in Aledo have told me they are going to top Denton ISD's palace with their planned new stadium. I told them that I'll believe that when I see it. They are passionate about their Texas HS football over in Aledo, though. Heck, I swear I believe I've seen as many Aledo Bearcat decals on cars around these parts as TCU in FW (and I kid you not). But on the subject of Fouts Field..........those who criticize that facility (built over a half century ago) from outside the Mean Green family I suppose feel they are making some kind of new revelation to the rest of us about our old edifice, eh? We do appreciate their letting us know what we have, though. Of course, some of that group of our critics who were at Fouts yesterday for the Highland Park/Stephenville play-off game (apparently) didn't look across the interstate to see a most impressive athletic village rising from the rolling Texas prairie, either. They probably didn't take a tour of the rest of our campus, either. The first time I sat in venerable ol' Fouts (as I've said before) was in September of 1973 to watch new NT head football coach Hayden Fry make his debut there and I remember one of our party of 4 at the game said: "Jeez, I think our school needs to build a new football stadium befitting the direction Hayden Fry says he wants to take Mean Green football." Well, that's now been 32 years ago, fellow alums/fans. OK, we all know that new stadium is all about money--Big Money. From the first day they announced NT football operations were moving across the interstate most knew then what we know now: UNT will still need a Big Donor or 2 or 3 to get this thing jump-started and finished. That part has never changed. ........................................................................................... Many long-timers and "just arrived on campus" types are more than curious as to what has taken place in recent days/months that is going to allow that new stadium to open by 2009 (as was officially announced on the official NT Athletic Dept. board weeks ago). If it is classified information that confidentiality is essential, so be it, but some would still say it very normal that many of us who've have been around NT a few decades (or less) would still be curious. So one tells us there will be a new stadium debut in 2009, but the chairman of the board of regents at UNT says no activity at all on that project? Sorta' reminds some of us of a similar "uncertain sound of a trumpet" or direction of a football program with a handful on campus who are dedicated to the one who will insure that it stays that way (and with more of us now recognizing definite trends and key 1-AA losses in past years that would verify that). Hey, we all admire some UNT employer/employee loyalties, but not the kind that will be at the expense of the rest of the UNT community who are being asked to annually invest in some of those loyalties. BTW, it is that very same UNT community that still has to validate decisions being made on campus by the purchase of footballl season tickets and Game Day purchases; but the Mean Green community I've observed for going on 4 decades will not for long keep supporting the veiled success that some are buying into. YET...........the $60,000 question is how long will it take our BOR's to fathtom that future Sunday AM DRC/DMN/FWST boxscore attendance figures at UNT (outside of rare Denton-based games like a SMU vs UNT) fully realize this and then do what they need to do for the majority who they seem to think should be showing up for validate their on-campus decisions. Any of you know any other NCAA D1-A school's leaderships that would rubber-stamp such blantant mediocrity to allow such a circus; especially with a NT head football coach whose approval rating among the MG Nation would probably even be lower than George W's is at this moment (although I like most of what the President has done)? I still haven't seen anyone on this board (except those who DD must have bought a beer) post something like this: "Yeah man, lets sign this guy to yet another extension so we can keep all these other NCAA D1-A schools who keep putting them on their "serious candidate lists" from snatching him away from us. GOD BLESS TEXAS! -
Well, since probably about 1/5'th of those registered on this board are in no way affiliated with UNT, my guess would be the 2 votes came from some of that group? GBT!

PlummMeanGreen replied to bflan's topic in Mean Green Football
And what other D1-AA schools are doing facility-wise just another reason we should really try to keep a perspective with some of our elect who are trying to make folk heros out of some of our NT officals who our present facilities have been built under their watch. Hellsbells, if NT weren't (basically) in a "catch up" mode of building facilities maybe even some Texas 1-A schools are probably fixin' to replace theirs with newer (or expanded) versions, just where would we be? In fact, if we hadn't built an A/C at EPC, just where would we be among the other Texas NCAA D1-A schools (as well as even some Texas D1-AA schools)? A real folk hero to most of us would be anyone at UNT who goes out, raises the big bucks and then builds for all concerned a (much-needed) NCAA D1-A college football stadium. As far as Texas State, I think they are quite content with 1-AA for the time being; in fact, our smallish crowd of last Saturday is just a tad below what they average with butts in seats most any year if memory serves me correct. Addendum: And for what I saw of TSU's football team vs Texas A & M several weeks ago, I'm just glad the 1-AA Bobcats were not on our schedule this Fall. GBT! -
What is your agenda with what you post, jjpfootball? Do you know? If so, please tell us all on GMG.com. I think many would be interested in knowing. I think there is no doubt where I stand (whether it be popular or unpopular) and I don't pussy-foot around with where I stand, either. Others of you the same. The fact is, one of the better things about Bobby Ray (who I've been a tad critical of late over other matters); but one of (I'm sure) other upsides of the Chairman of the NT BOR's is he at least is making sure NT football is not on life support (as past NT leaders have done to this football program). Bobby Ray will not allow a football budget to decrease at UNT and thats plain and simple. GBT!
-
I just want our football progarm to be a Top 25 program whether that be as a SBC school or in the WAT conference. The "WAT Conference? You know, the "We're Almost There" conference. Whatever conference, though, we still don't need to be satisfied or content with Fouts Field as our home, folks, because I think it has been that very Fouts Field that has kept us out of a couple of conferences in the past. Fouts Field still needs an implosion ceremony that I think would be well attended. Yes, I know, we still need the Big Donor(s) but all that will come in due time. GBT!

Dunham's verbal attack
PlummMeanGreen replied to Season Ticket Holder's topic in Mean Green Football
Jeez, stebo, are you the same one who coined the phrase: "Hey, Joe, I hear you don't beat your wife as hard as you used to?!?!? If I were Season Ticket Fan and with the forward/backward comments you made about him as a fan, I wouldn't know whether to come up and give you a big ol' brotherly hug or a brotherly kick. (only just kiddn', stebo) Seriously, Steve, I agree with the part where you said we need about 30,000 more fans like Season Ticket Fan. I've heard similar comments and yells that he expressed at Fouts last Saturday from most everyone on this board (including yours truly) and most of that group who I've known for awhile now; except a handful of fellow NT Exes who have always maintained their complete civility no matter what was happening on campus. I think many of us have observed unusual & questionable customer service skill for a long time from a (very) few in the athletic dept. staff who have apparently done all the right politickin' with a few around Denton or maybe they would have already been long gone and would have joined many their other ex NT athletic collegues at jobs (usually) of a lesser level and scope than the University of North Texas. Seriously and FWIW, I just haven't in the past considered George Dunham as part of that group, although I think he has been heavily influenced by some of that group on our campus who are not fan/alum friendly to all of our masses they (apparently) don't think it that important to be fan-friendly to as to enhance their standing or professional career at UNT; yet the George Dunham I have observed (mostly from a distance) has most always been a friendly and gracious type person. I first met Mr. Dunham when he and I were both co-recipients of the Ulys Knight Spirit Award in the Spring of 1996. I was duly impressed with both he and his family during that special evening for many. And Dunham in the past has always been at the top of most of our list as the consummate NT supporter, admirably so a Mean Green homer (at Fouts AND.......... on KTCK 1310 The Ticket of which he has personally received much ridicule for standing up for his/our Mean Green). Season Ticket Fan, I think with George Dunham, this was a one time happening that he will never repeat and that not because someone on campus told him not to, but I think that that would just be the nature of the G. Dunham many of us have seen, observed and listened to on The Ticket for over a decade and have observed while he has been on the UNT payroll as our play by play guy. For all concerned, I hope there is a friendly (and acceptable to all parties) conclusion to this. -
Kinda' funny how most North Texas fans want to avoid the WAC as much as La Tech fans want to avoid the Sun Belt. We need to be in a conferenc that if we are at the top of that conference we are also a stong candidate for Top 25 consideration. The MAC and the WAC have been pulling that off with their top tier football teams. Anyone know where La Tech goes bowling this month? GOD BLESS TEXAS...
-
Link your source for all this football budget cut info you have created here. You think an NT football program with Bobby Ray as chairman of the BOR's will be cutting its budget? What are you smoking? Again, give us all a link of your newly found info on the NT football budget cuts. I think others on this board would also like to see them, too. On another front, watching La Tech/Fresno State tonight should give Mean Green fans even more concern about our situation and direction.
-
What the hell are you talking about? There has been no budget cut and there is no one presently on the UNT campus or Denton who will ever have a $500,000 annual salary. All that kind of a salary is for future reference when UNT eventually gets out of this present "set small goal/reach small goal" environment that the SBC/Bottom 10 gives us and when we get back on track of re-setting previous higher goals at UNT. Some of us are just going to have to exhibit the high virtue of patience until all the bad water completely runs under the bridge. GOD BLESS TEXAS!
-
Still both Tulsa and LTU quite handily beat us. Tulsa U who gave us our worst home loss in history and a big loss against a La Tech team some thought even in our worst year we would still beat and why? Because many of us were falling for the veiled success that the SBC/Bottom 10 might tend to give many of our fans. Some of us had actually believed we had been out-recruiting the school from Ruston all the time ( with our advantage of new and upcoming facilities and resources available to UNT because of our location in a major population center). Look what La Tech is presently doing on ESPN without blueprints on the table for new football related facilities? I fear La Tech will continue to outrecruit UNT based on what we saw with their talent vs our talent in Ruston weeks ago and FWIW, what some of us are seeing on ESPN now. Guess it still boils down to if to one likes Dickey's style of football. Yet after 4 bowl games in a row some still wonder why no NCAA D1-A job interviews for DD, why can't we still sell impressive numbers of season tickets for a "4 years in a row" bowl team; and why here in 2005 have we not started even getting close to averaging 20-25K per home rather than our usual 15K most years? So the question is: How does UNT get out of this annual rut in the SBC/Bottom 10? Even a college football novice would recognize that all the aforementioned are not characteristic of a school whose football program is exhibiting any semblance of improvement no matter how anyone tries to spin it on this board. Unfortunately, any year you are at the bottom of the 'Belt, then your pretty well at the bottom of NCAA D1-A. And FWIW, most any year you are the football champion of the SBC you are still toward the bottom of NCAA D1-A. GBT!
-
Don't mean to keep going back and forth here, but at UNT we've not had to worry about Big Donors that much as it is anyway; but I do remember reading a Houston Chronicle article years ago about a Big Donor for the University of Houston who did ask UH officials just where his monies could best serve the UH main campus. UH officials gave him several areas of need that big money could more than be utilized. So enter...............Mr and Mrs. John J. Moores who ended up giving UH $50 million which at that time was the largest individual donation ever given to a U.S. public university. And $50 million that was put in the very areas that UH officials deemed their biggest areas of need. The UH Athletic Dept. got a very nice Athletic Center out of that big donation, too. H. R. Cullen in the mid-1950's gave UH $1 million right after the Coog's had beaten SWC'er Baylor. Heard he actually got pissed when he got word that all of his $1 million donation didn't go completely to athletics, either. Most of you older Texans might recall that Mr. Cullen was a big Texas oil man. In fact, one of Forth Worth's most famous (and controversial) citizens was named after H.R. Cullen and that would be one T. Cullen Davis (and now you know the rest of the story)!

This is still an abomination no matter who on staff lost their composure. I hope all will be resolved soon. We don't need to be replacing NT fans who get disillusioned with off the field events for sure. We have enough to get disillusioned with some things we've see on the field of late. GBT! -
Dunham's verbal attack
PlummMeanGreen replied to Season Ticket Holder's topic in Mean Green Football
Fact still remains that had we outrecruited Tulsa U and La Tech the last few years (as our 2 losses to them this year indicates that we didn't); anyway if we would have, last Saturday's game would have mean't something for both schools (instead of just ASU) and then there wouldn't have been a small crowd at Fouts Field for a fan to suddenly be vaulted into the MGRN booth to become its 3'rd broadcaster. . FWIW, Season Ticket Holder was probaby yelling with the same level of decibels last Saturday that he always has for previous games in previous seasons at Fouts Field (except for this one last Saturday the much smaller crowd became the very reason for this whole scenario to unfold in the first place). GOD BLESS NORTH TEXAS FANS! (We have now become like those on the floor of the Roman Coliseum several centuries ago). **I'll sure as hades be taking out a life insurance policy before I ever come back to Fouts. (just kiddin'----sorta' anyway). -

Dunham's verbal attack
PlummMeanGreen replied to Season Ticket Holder's topic in Mean Green Football
Some of us who in the past have deal't with a 1 or 2 particular UNT staffers who (seemedly) would rather there by a Mean Green athletic program w/o having fans around. Anyway, I would tell "Season Ticket Holder" that once all this is (hopefully) settled, that he can certainly not count on any semblance of an apology from most of the group we now have in Denton and some of them in Denton maybe a bit longer than their production record seems to reveal that they might better serve their own career goals somewhere else where fans don't seem to bother them as much as NT fans seem to)? In 30 plus years of my following Mean Green athletics, I've truly never seen anything like what is (and has been) happening at our alma mater in recent days, months as well as years. I understand Bobby Ray (who I as one alums been a bit tough on I'll be the first to admit) is a very successful and most admired businessman when he's off campus, yet I just can't see that he would condone such things in own very successful business, least of all at the University of North Texas. I'll for damn sure be glad when we will (hopefully) soon enough get some fresh new faces on staff who will come to Denton with a fresh and new positive approach toward longtime (and new) NT fans and contributors as their modus operendi; that is, instead of what seems to be continuing (and even now on public display) bashings of the very NT constituency that UNT officials annually tell us in the summer when we are trying to sell season tickets that they would like to see more of .
