  1. Not worried about it. I do like UNT’s future in passing UTSA in wins (again) & all our venues in the Mean Green Village gives many of us that confidence. UNT had most all our venues in place when applying for AAC membership while Commissioner Aresco said some schools could only promise they’d catch theirs up. GMG!
  2. After reading some AAC history, it seems the old version of that conference (with UH, Cincy & CenFla) got such a good TV deal with ESPN because of AAC Commissioner Aresco & his apparent past connection to some executives in that sports network. None of the new AAC additions are hardly a Notre Dame (but neither was Cincy’ the night the Mean Green beat them in a New Orleans Bowl game); but Commissioner Aresco has doubled the AAC’s presence in Dallas-Fort Worth, he’s added greater San Antonio & greater Miami plus retained Houston. So work your magic (again), Mr. Commissioner. We’re all pulling for ya’! 👍 🦅
  3. Back in the 70’s Southern Miss was averaging 35K per home game & (IMO) well on their way to a P5 existence, but then the NCAA started genuflecting to the Big Boys & now here we all are today. Many don’t like the direction the NCAA is headed except—the Big Boys. 🦅
  4. Hofheinz Pavillion (10K seats) converted to Fertitta Center (7,100 seats). Super Pit (10K seats) converted to _______________ Center (?,??? seats) 🦅
  5. Interesting names on this thread. • Shocked that TTech unexpectedly pulled the trigger today on their HFC. ___________________ ❇️ These UNT-graduated musicians are some of the biggest MG fans in the MG Nation. They were hilarious on Twitter during March Madness.
  6. I was at the 1968 Astro-Bluebonnet game that featured SMU vs OU & the Mustang Band knocked it out of the Astrodome that night. Irving Dreiboldt was their Band Director for years. Like Dr. Smatresk recently said our 2 universities do have totally different missions, so I’d say both marching bands would (somewhat) fit the same criteria? Here is some of their marching band at Apogee in recent times. ••• If not for Covid the GB would have been at GFord back in September. They can be quite the pep squad.
  7. Many on GMG have been a fan of the GB before it was cool to be a fan of the GB. Here they are as the special guest band at the Dallas “Bands Over America” recently. Be damn proud of this group—They deserve it. 🦅
  8. TCU may learn the lesson that you don’t put up a statue of your present coach (as they did in front of their fancy rebuild of ACS & that before UT/OU said “see ya’ later”, Horned Frogs); anyway, you don’t do the statue thing until the coach retires? ••• Lets be real here, our favorite school (& others) could not afford Patterson’s annual ACS parking decal fee with what TCU pays him for his annual salary. 👏👏KUDOS to all who showed up at Apogee for the matinee show the other day. Most of you who didn’t show had to be a bit surprised at it, too, eh? 📍Cougar Red, how was attendance at your game the other night?🙄(OK, we’ll give you the rain delay, too). Watching DVR’ed replays of many games from last weekend I’d say few have reason to celebrate their respective home attendance numbers. •••The NCAA may have to go back to enforcing their attendance criteria.😳 🔥 I sat by 2 LU Flames fans who were a blast to talk to during the game. It was a Fathere/Son who each flew from Virginia & Georgia (respectfully) to meet at DFW Airport & would rent a car to make the 25 minute drive to Apogee. They were fun & very complimentary of the Mean Green Village venues & the GB. I told them Wren, Don Loveless & company visited their IPF among several others before they finalized our blueprints. Here’ some of our crowd the other day. We’ve all seen worse for an almost winless team. . 🦅
  9. Mason Fine was Bryce Drummond’s QB tutor at Pawhuska HS, Oklahoma. As I recall Mason Fine received some of the same “he’ll be a very average FBS QB” critiques on GMG, too. Seems to me small HS college recruits most all get similar critiques. In some cases they turn out to be true. (Remember #1 Texas HS recruit Milton Collins of Blooming Grove, Texas, who Fry signed for North Texas)? Sometimes GMG is hardly the source for hitting it spot on with new HS recruits or during the search for the next UNT HFC so maybe we should be content to just let those who make the big bucks do their job? I think Wren Baker will do just fine in the next head football coach’s search for UNT. We just don’t know when that search will officially be.
  10. End of 1’st Quarter pic. Probably couple of thousand still tailgating on The Hill.
  11. Imagine if we were 5 & 1? GMG!
  12. Hello old Coog pal! (Of course, I knew he was that, but thanks for reminding me. Whatever happened to Mr. & Mrs. John J. Moores? 🦅
  13. Maybe it’s a money thang’? Wonder if we have a Fertitta out there who has a spare $50 million he could give or float a loan so “In Wren We Trust” could finish out the Athletic Center/(hopefully full End Zone Facility) & then move on to varsity baseball & then—a re-do of the fabulous Super Pit?
  14. I know I’ve brought up SMU the last 4 decades any time I have indigestion, but maybe it’s time for us all to move on from this kind of thing? SMU will do what’s best for SMU & I don’t think our goading them in their time of disappointment with the Big 12 thing is a healthy thing to do? Like Smatresk said both universities have different clientele & different goals so...... I’ll try to cease & desist on the subject of SMU if the rest of you will? I seriously promise. 😇 🦅
  15. Kinda’ funny how I think it worked out this way (per the thread title). Even after the MWC said they were not going to expand, but in this era when contracts are not even worth the paper they’re written on how could AAC Commissioner Aresco take Craig Thompson at his word when it came for the next re-alignment? 🗣SO—WALA! UNT is now in the AAC (& not the only MWC member in the DFW area). IT’S GAME DAY! 🦅
  16. Nothing. I do like your End Zone facility truth be told. 🦅
  17. You are probably right, drex.
  18. For the future—after you get the money.
  19. Thanks for setting this event up, greengal!👍👍 🦅
  20. Older renderings but not bad looking.
  21. 😊 “You’re absolutely right, Ollie.” (Stan Laurel)
  22. Unusual that a UT System school with Austin-biased Board of Regents would be allowed that luxury. There’s got to be more to all this.
  23. If I were La Tech I’d go Indy’. They have the balls to do it & to be successful doing it.
  24. I remember reading the NT Daily when David Moore was it sports editor. I liked his work.
