  1. What happened to the old "A/B...A/B rhyme scheme...it seems to have fallen off the literary scene (except at the online Home of the Green). GMG!
  2. Bump! ....many of Cedrick's friends are in town this weekend. Of course, we're his friends, too! GMG!
  3. ....and that because of special Mean Green celebrity recognition with the 100 Year theme and all plus some of our most famous doing the coin toss at the 50 yard line pre-kick-off! Yes, I suppose for some it can be fashionable to be late, but save that for another game...for certain not this one. GMG!
  4. Great notes, Fly! I was thinking that it was that Vandals win that put us in our first bowl game in awhile. GMG! PS: Was hoping that there will be a YouTube or NTVideo production of the highlights of this fabulous Mean Green gathering of last night, too. I Mean It's Really A Great Day To Be Green; That Is....Mean Green! Look forward to seeing many of you in just a few hours. PMG
  5. Simply amazing. When will "WE" get one of those again? Some are probably wanting to scrape the name Bill Snyder off KSU's football stadium the way some fans are so Roman mob'esque fickle and since I'm sure they are not feeling so much in a "family way" this morning. Of course, those still alive after their almost half century long football seasons losing streak probably saying..."oh, heck, this loss just a minor detour along a long highway for us." Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium/Wagner Field
  6. Scott Hall should already be in the NTAHOF. I told his dad the very same thing at the Indiana Hoosier game at Apogee 2 years ago. GMG!
  7. Tejas ! ! ! ! ! !
  8. Your best ever fire fighter helmet!
  9. Lots of "no shows" at G. Ford Stadium over at SMU. It was a sellout but many stayed home to watch the game on ESPN I suppose. Hindsight time, but anyone else a tad sad we couldn't have opened Apogee with Texas Tech instead of UH? That would have easily been a sellout with SRO in the wings. I am not impressed with either SMU or Texas Tech in the first half. They will get better but tonight they are not impressive thus far. GMG! Addendum: The Red Raiders have become impressive in the 4'th quarter.
  10. Alumni Pavilion? And I thought that was a Greyhound Bus Terminal all this time! (I'm just kiddin', KRAM1, just kiddin'). GMG!
  11. A loss is not an option.
  12. Without a doubt, I have 2 season tickets this Fall in Section 208 and they will be occupied tomorrow night.
  13. At my Hudson Oaks (Weatherford) Walmart, the guy behind the deli saw my Mean Green shirt the other day and he said his UNT freshman daughter and her UNT friends were fired up about going to the game at Apogee Stadium He said if he didn't have to work he would have come up for the game himself. Do parents of UNT students still get a discount? I think the UNT student body who will by the 2'nd quarter fill the entire east stadium will cause Idaho to have to call a couple of time outs they will get so loud.
  14. Very nice, FFR, very, very nice. GMG!
  15. If North Texas were playing Texas Tech (as SMU is now on ESPN) you would see our first S.R.O. crowd of about 35,000 (give/take) or...how many more the fire marshall would allow at Apogee.
  16. My guestimate is: 24,600 (cooler weather and it would be more). And I also believe the east student side will almost be full if not full. Wonder how Family Plan sales went for the Wing Zone? If that section ever became full for most every game our average attendance numbers would become dramatically higher. It's the best college football ticket deal in the Metroplex for a family of 4 so why not? GMG! PS: More overall interest? Just look at so many more on GMG.com who are posting or merely looking at posts and I think that even translates to more out there who have no idea this forum exists. I credit all this to CUSA membership plus our UNT constituency just keeps on getting larger, larger, larger and larger. Addendum: Interest once again? There have been almost 800 on this forum in the last 2 or so hours and this has to be close to some kind of record for GMG.com. Harry?
  17. Look like she's glad to see somebody.
  18. I notice a few of us picked the magic number of "35" for our Mean Green to score tomorrow night. Here's hoping DT/#7 lights it up tomorrow night, but if he starts out too slow or is obviously having an off night I hope our coaches won't be too slow to make a QB change, either. It is my honest opinion that we need to make a very strong statement about this football program tomorrow night at Apogee because is is easy to see that the Indians have been or are getting restless. We need to win first of all, but if we win big that would be that nice statement. GMG!
  19. Good one, NTSUEagle ! Wonder just how many coats of "plastic" Ms. Joan has on that mug of hers? She must hold the Guiness Book of World Records for facelifts!
  20. Superb job Brett Vito 7 staff!
  21. I will be wearing a new Mean Green T-shirt & baseball cap I purchased from Denton's new "Barefoot"store yesterday off the Denton courthouse square. Barefoot has a very large and nice "new look" collection of Mean Green gear and sportswear at very reasonable prices); and (again) it's off the square on the northwest part of it near the police/fire department (?) plus.............I'll be wearing some nice new white khaki shorts from Kohls. HOT RUMOR: I heard Joan Rivers and the Fashion Police will be at the Apogee Stadium Mean Green Carpet to see if we're all up to date and Texas chic with our new Mean Green sportswear. BUT......guess what our North Texas Mean Green football players will be wearing for those who think it will to too hot as most all of us sit in the shade wearing our T-shirts and shorts? GMG!
  22. Listen To Me Now, OK? Folks, the Apogee Stadium west side (press box/suites) will be in the shade not too long after kick-off if not part of the kick-off.part of tomorrow's timeline. It's when you are in the gol' darned sun as to when it gets hot. I almost did too much of that merely feeding a couple of horses yesterday and just walking the pasture. Moral of story: Get out of the sun and into the shade and by all mean..........hydrate like crazy during our Texas heat spells. Repeat: The shade on Apogee west side will already be in place at kick-off or soon after. Do we have a few real Texans who are going to be coming to this game? Heck, I'm T-2 diabetic (as you know by now) and will be roughing it out in much of the tailgate sunshine. A shade will most obviously be a commodity, tomorrow, of course. Even if it got too hot, one could always go back to the car, turn AC on, listen to game there and then come back to the stadium to finish the game. We've had hot games before and as one said, many were well attended and most stayed. GMG! PS: I do wish from now on any late August or first part of September games at Apogee would start at 7:00 PM.
  23. Hate to throw ice water in a few faces (especially after you've already had your 1'st or 2'nd cups of coffee), but jdennis82 is right inasmuch as.... ......we haven't beaten Tulsa U since I was a 17 yo senior in HS. We did it in grand fashion since we broke the SWC stronghold on an ABC TV televised football game weekend back in 1968 and won with a whole bunch of people in the Southwest seeing us beat the Golden 'Canes on television. (Back then I think most of the schools in the Sun Belt and a few in the new CUSA were playing NCAA College Division or NAIA level football and I honestly can say I was vaguely aware of most of that group's existence some of whom we would later call conference-mates). I've predicted a 35-10 win tomorrow night, but I also have to remind myself how anything is possible on any given Saturday. After all, the USA did beat the Russians in hockey in 1980 and sports scribes were describing that as tantamount to a high school football team beating the Pittsburgh Steelers so with that.... I refuse to high 5 anyone tomorrow until after the game is (hopefully) safely tucked away. GMG!
  24. To 7Travis5's above post, these former North Texas players had no problems being found by the NFL. (That's OK...you are a newbie' here). I am not sure any SWC school could have topped our NFL draft choices during the the late 60's and eaven early 70's of North Texas Mean Green football era which included Joe Greene (#1 NFL draftee), Cedrick Hardwick (#1 NFL draftee), Steve Ramsey (NFL draftee), Glenn Holloway (NFL draftee), Ron Shanklin (NFL draftee), Chuck "Hatchett" Beatty (NFL draftee), Leonard Dunlap (#1 NFL draftee), etc, etc, era. I repeat: I don't think "ANY" single SWC school did better (collectively) with draft choices in the late 60's and early 70's. It was truly a golden era for our program that most schools in today's P5 conferences will most likely never even duplicate, either, IMO. It will be fun and very meaningful to most all of us of the Mean Green Nation to see former North Texas Mean Green & NFL greats Cedrick Hardman and Mean Joe Greene together again at the 50 yard line flipping the coin to get this special football season started. Wish I could have seen them play as a UNT student, but of course had that been the case, I would be much older than I am now.
